I never comment but as stated, this was an invite only show from the Ten Club. I was 14, Cobain had just died and this was my first concert ever. And suddenly I find it on UA-cam. I'm blown away. I'm 37 and this is a time machine. Very Moving.

It boggles my mind that there is audio and visual from this concert that I went to 20 years ago. Gives me chills. I was in the last row of the balcony standing on milk crates to see them. Never forget it!
Andy Sharry what a great memory for you!! This music is still superb.....I wish I were there, Thankyou to whomever shared this video Love!!! The Energy and the Sound just gives me chills
wow I haven't heard this version since I was about 11 years old... I had a bootleg mix cassette tape of this concert, shitty quality, muffled sound but man did I play the hell out of that tape and this song specifically. This is Pearl jam right here
just discovered this new old pearl. I thought I listened to pretty much everything from them but I was wrong. Powerful, both in the rhythm and the lyrics... exactly as I like
Same. I don't think they suck now, I just think that the time period from 1993/1994- 2000 was when their best songs were written. They're getting older now, but there also much more mature. They're not the same 25 year olds anymore. This music was written because of their worries, insecurities, and opinions of that time. It's much different now. But yes I agree this music was more raw, true to themselves. Much more meaningful IMO. Plus I feel the instrumental parts very better then.
Take me as is I don't need this I die just to live Immortality... I can't take a walk I won't fight this world I won't save it all It is not my fault Take me as is I don't need this I die just to live I won't stay long I'll be long gone I die just to live...
The sound is so good because they used the official band recorded audio from they sound board (SBD). This concert was featured with they reissue of Vs and Vitalogy last year. That's where the audio came from.
kinda. The was the second time they ever played this song, the first time being the night before on April 11, 1994 at the Boston Garden in Boston. This song was only written days before that, most likely about the death of Kurt Cobain ad he died that week. The original lyrics from this video were actually changed when they
Always one step ahead they need be to feel safe and alive, the W's of Seattle, that brought this sound to the world. All kids in the end and pure as hell in sound.
You wont find the same kinds of Mccready solos in their newer stuff. And about what the other guy said, I dont feel they fell apart after Dave left the band. They transitioned into a more alternative band. I think Jack Irons was a decent drummer for that time, and I think his drumming is why Yield sounds the way it does. He was appearantly also a nice dude, brought everyone together. Matt Cameron is alright, but I feel like his style of drumming is to heavy. Its suits soundgarden, but not PJ.
Great place to have seen PJ, The acoustics are incredible at the Orpheum in Boston, At least they didn't light the curtains on fire like Alice Cooper and JeffBeck did 2 years earlier 😁
Matt Cameron sounds great with Pearl Jam! I love Dave Abbruzzese (he's the reason why I picked up drums tbh) and I miss him as much as he next guy but damn guys. You need to move on. It's almost been 20 years since Dave was fired. Let it be.
No you are right.. "SUCK" is harsh..Money,security and kids can change a person's outlook... Vs & Vitalogy are the best albums IMO.. I love No Code and Yield tho and parts of Binaural.
+Noe Cornell I could take the sun I could call the couple everyone I won't sell the comfort in the world I can't take it off I won't say enough it's not my fault I don't care if there's something in the way Take me and burn I don't need this I'll die just to live Immortality I could paint the moon I could reflect light into a room If I could the fortune of the glare I could paint it all I won't say enough it's not my fault I won't call the alter in the air Take me as is I don't need this I'll die just to live Immortality I can't take it off I won't fight this war I won't save it all It is not my fault Take me as is I don't need this I'll die just to live I won't stay long I'll be long gone I'll die just to live It's probably not 100 percent accurate, but these lyrics are unofficial, I got these lyrics by listening, I'd say it's probably about 95 percent accurate
I know this comment is 8-years old, but here's my guess. Maybe the person that posted this was there and this is their footage, or they got it from somewhere else. In February 2011 PJ released the 20th Anniversary Editions of Vs and Vitalogy. With one of the bundles you could buy, the entire show at the Orpheum came with it on its own vinyl. So the person took the professional-quality audio from the vinyl and dubbed over his video-recording.
They reconciled their differences before Cobain's death. Vedder talks about it in the PJ 20 movie. They even show a clip of Vedder and Cobain actually slow-dancing together(I THINK from one of the MTV awards shows). I've also seen a clip of Cobain talking about, how at first he didn't like their music or the band, but that he had since spoken with Vedder and liked him as a person.
As a really honest PJ fan I thought them letting Abby go was like Zep firing Bonzo! But, if anyone could replace him its Matt although I love Dave's Jeremy.
This is back when Eddie meant it when they all meant it then I think they're their wallets got kind of fat and kinda started losing that spark plug that fire and just kind of had to find it get up on stage for another day for another dollar and that's how you get dances with clairvoyant
He started writing from a place of anger, struggle, hunger to make something of himself, and then he did make something of himself. Now he has a good life, happiness, a loving family. So now he has to write from a place of contentment, accomplishment, happiness. of course that will change the music. Doesn’t mean it’s bad though, just different.
Daves drumming on hold on is perhaps the best piece of drum work I've ever heard, I like matts personality better, but its ludicrous to compare the two as drummers, dave was unbelievable.
This is the first time this song was ever played live. 7 months before Vitalogy was released. Eddie obviously did not have the lyrics finished yet so he was freestyling a bit. Can still hear parts that were put into the final version.

recorded this song in the studio, which is the version you hear on Vitalogy. This version has the lyrics coming from more of a first-person perspective, rather than a third-person perspective like the lyrics on the studio version of Immortality

Eddie Raia you are soooo lucky ! 🥰
Thats cool bro
This is one of if not their best show ever played. So a fantastic first show!
Wow, lucky you! I wish I was there, man. This show is quite something.
My friend and fellow drummer Dave Abbruzzese makes this show! Eddies in top form too. !
Lyrics (before Vitalogy album):
I could take the sun
I could call the couple anyone
I won't tell the comfort in the world
I can't take it off
I won't say "Enough, it's not my fault"
I won't care there's something in the way*
Take me as I am
I don't need this
I die just to live
Immortality
I could paint the moon
I could reflect light into a room
If I could (afford) the fortune of the glare*
I could paint it all
I won't say "Enough, it's not my fault"
I won't call the altar in the air
Take me as is
I don't need this
I die just to live
Immortality
I can't take a walk
I won't fight this world
I won't save it all
It is not my fault
Take me as is
I don't need this
I die just to live
I won't stay long
I'll be long gone
I die just to live

Indeed
Dave is a beast in the drums, but he also knows how to bring the right intensity and is fully demonstrated in this song. Big Abbruzzese!
Thank you.
I miss Dave Abbruzzese so much !

Make it 30 years now
This is the way it’s supposed to sound. They never regained this level of greatness again once they let Abbruzzese go……
This just might be the greatest concert ever.
I love that snare sound
They played this version last night in Fenway (September 4th, 2018)
Du u have the video? :O
This is the best version of Immortality imo. Very dark, beautiful at the same time.
I LOVE Tremor Christ, that song is awesome!!
It's why I think the studio version is different. They could never do this again.
And I mean that as a positive. Something happens here that makes the band come closer.
Miss the organic and amazing drumming of Dave.
I WON'T STAY LONG, I'LL BE LONG GONE. I'LL DIE JUST TO WIN....................................
Abbruzzese MAESTRO !!
Bien dicho.Maestro
no doubts, but this songs is more about Eddie and his lyrics
sounds right and good with dave abbruzzese
amazing lyrics by far. amazing drumming by far.
by far the best version....deep lyrics and performance

Amazing. Thanks for posting.

Listen to this version and tell me this song isn't about Kurt
Can’t do it.
My favorite version of this song.
What a sound , what a song
Probably my favorite version of this masterpiece. Tough deciding between this and Benyroyal. These early lyrics are so freaking awesome.

Me too but about 19 yr old. It was muffled but I loved it sooo damn much . I swore when this is recorded some day it might be their best song ever
I never knew there was two different lyrics to the song before and after love both
There are actually three or four versions. This one is the best, imho.
Exelente batero Dave es lo mejor que le paso a Pearl Jam su tecnica los juegos de platillos es y sera el mejor baterista de pearl jam
never heard or seen this version before although i am a fan since i first saw them at pinkpop (holland) in 1992. i was 19 then, and am 43 right now.
I’m in love with that concert! Happy for you to be there.

It was really cool he sang these alternate lyrics at the Fenway show all these years later.

My favorite version.

Whats the story behind this version? Was this a one time thing for this version of the lyrics?
Didn t really think Pearl Jam liked Kurt Cobain because Kurt complained about them. Knew he hated Tool.
They reconciled their differences before Cobain's death. Vedder talks about it in the PJ 20 movie.
