If you have a new chief and you're not liking the stock seat, then I highly recommend this seat based on my first impressions.
Definitely do your research and think about it before purchasing, but I am a very happy customer so far!
I am in no way sponsored or paid by Saddlemen to make this video. Just a guy trying to make some youtube videos
Hello Indian goodbye harley 😎. In my humble opinion indian have really nailed it especially with the "big blocks" I'm fortunate enough to have a 2020 chieftain darkhorse and that thing just blows my mind. Plenty of power, tons of torque, comfy as feels half the weight it really is. Handles great, suspension is awesome and that's straight out the box! Great video to by the way. Cheers everyone 🍺 🍺 🍺 🍺 🍺 🍺 🍺 🍺 🇳🇿🏴🇬🇧😎
You should be ashamed of yourself for putting the butcher's apron right next to the Saltire.
People sure like to hang out in the passing lane. Even when there's plenty of open space on the road. The torque and manoeuvrability of that Bobber looked pretty handy in that situation. No need to waste time waiting for dodlers to wake up, just dodge them and blow past.
That's Texas for you haha. He don't view that lane as passing only even though it's really supposed to be. The torque is great! Don't Don't need to drop a gear. Just pull back on the throttle and get all the power you need
To say this guys an aggressive rider would be a massive understatement !!
I like to think I’m more of a proactive rider than an aggressive rider. Do I go faster than I should? Sure. Do I weave through traffic more than I should? Sure. BUT, Houston drivers are crazy and I find going a little faster than traffic keeps you safe. As far as the weaving? I plan out my move before I take it so I’m not just flying through cars reacting to what’s going on around me
Love how this bike have power 24/7, proper highway video! High speeds & when u need more power u just twitst & the bike goes faster with no problems. And it looks smooth and comfortable. Recently I started watching a lot of videos about the Chief Dark horse, cuz i'm thinking of getting it. So far from what i've seen on the internet this bike is amazing!
Only real downside I ran into is that the engine on that thing gets HOT. So if you're in a southern state or some place with similar temps, be prepared to turn it off at long red lights during the summer
Jesus what a beautiful bike..im on the scout bobber..dark horse is goals
Thanks man! You're gonna hate my next video though lol
love the look. i got a 22 chief dark horse in stealth gray with the front facing air intake. just bought the saddlemen step up with red stitch along with dean & speed Rampage Muffler and the Sissy Bar. can't wait for those to come in and for spring to hurry up!
Thanks! I've got the stage 1 slip ones with the baffles out, but have the freedom 2-1 full system on the way. Can't wait for it! I've got the forwarded air intake as well. Easily my favorite part of the bike
@@darsoma9522 have you done any long trips yet? and did you get the comfort gel insert?
@@mn_viking9631 @@mn_viking9631 not since I've put the seat on. I would have this weekend but I picked up a nail in the rear on Saturday. I talked to a saddlemen rep when ordering the seat. I found out that the riders seat always has the gel insert. The additional gel insert that's optional is for the passenger, which I did not get.
What dealer did you buy from? Im in MN too looking to pick one up. Is Lakeville good to work with?
@@jheds8573 the new owner of indian motorcycle of the twin cities in st paul is the place to go. the dudes who own Lloyds garage are involved.
Air ride would soak up any bumps and still give you that lowered stance you like 🤙🏼
Just the video I was looking for! New sub!
Thanks man! She's currently got no pipes on her 😭 had someone who wanted to buy my stage one pipe and my full system got delayed so no riding for a couple weeks for me
Nice ride. You definitely push it through the lanes haha. I am looking at some Black Katz Pipez slips on purely for sound purposes. I also keep looking at seats. I really want to see more Chiefs with the Saddlemen Renegade (solo) to see if it offers more back support than stock. I am just not a fan of the step up at all. Totally changes the look of the bike. But that's just me. No hate
So the renegade doesn't look like it'd do much over the stock seat, but indian just released a new sports chief with a new seat on it. Could probably just buy the seat over the counter. Looks like it'd do the job pretty well. Saw it and actually thought "damn! guess I wasn't the only one complaining about slipping out of the stock seat!"
ahhh Houston texas riding. I find highway riding boring. Im glad I have lots of 2 lane blacktop to ride on with turns and hills.
It is. I get out of the city when I can, but the concrete jungle is where I live… for now.
@@darsoma9522 At least you are thinking "for now"... Don't let the concrete jungle consume your soul.
Being 5’7 on a chief bobber, I need to sit closer to the bars. I haven’t seen too many options if any for a reduced reach aftermarket seat
I’m about the same height and the saddlemen felt perfect for me
Looks great!
Very happy with both the form and function of it. Didn't know a motorcycle seat could be so supportive while also being very comfortable! You guys knocked it out of the park
@@darsoma9522 Appreciate that- welcome the Family!
Whippin that thang mayne💪🏽
Smooth and fast..love it
You got it haha. Loving it more every day
I love that digital speedometer. I wonder if I can get that on my scout bobber
You know, I actually looked into that. It looks like it would fit in the bike just fine. The only thing that worries me is that it's programmed for chiefs. If I had to guess they probably use the same or a similar ecu. I can't say for sure because no one has tried it yet lol
@@darsoma9522 guess there's one way to find out 🤔
@@Skuuskuu87 haha you let me know how it works out man! I'd love to know
@@darsoma9522 I'll just have to find one. I typed in 21 indian scout bobber. And some popped up sooooo. There's hope
I love everything about the bike, except that speedometer. A big reason I ride is to get away from screens. Give me analog.
Can you comment on the suspension and wind in your face.
I am considering the chieftain but like the chief better if I’m not compromising suspension on the bumpy roads. Also have you come across any windscreens or fairing options other than the super chief windscreen which I don’t like.
Suspension is very short travel. I have bottomed it out. It doesn’t hurt or give me any discomfort but I would like if they introduced some fox shocks like they offer for the scout. As far as the wind, it’s not bad until you hit about 90mph on it. No options besides the Indian options for windshields at the moment. I’m hoping Memphis shades will come out with something that’ll look cool on it
@@darsoma9522 thanks I was thinking the same thing regarding a good after market windshield. Does the fox suspension offer something closer to a chieftain suspension or just a slight better than factory?
@@darsoma9522 from my understanding, music city Indian has loaned Memphis shades a chief for design and fit of a fairing. Hopefully, not much longer before they release one
Where does that seat position you I need to move back about 2 inches
Will this seat fit standard Indian Scout? Mine is 2022.
@@84198 saddlemen may make a seat for the scout, but this is specifically a seat for the chief
Where did you get the seat from. I’ve been looking
What's the seat called? And it looks like it gives nice back support
It’s called the saddlemen step up
beautiful ride where is that located
99 in Richmond tx. We definitely get some gorgeous looking skies here in Texas
How long did you have to wait for the seat to get to you?
Seat took about 8 or 9 weeks if I remember correctly
Your whole exhaust is black. I don’t see the website like that. How can I get that?
When I got it, it came with the black heat shield. Indian swapped it to a chrome one and now you have to buy the black heat shield as an additional part. If it's not on the Indian website, just call your local dealer and they'll be able to order it for you. I believe it's a little less than $200 if I remember correctly.
Wondering if you ever drove the 111 Bobber and how it compared if so.
The 111 feels great to ride as well! I just like to go a little crazy with the performance stuff so I opted for the 116. You feel the torque more with the 116 but the 111 still feels more than powerful enough for someone who isn't worried about min maxing a bikes performance
@@darsoma9522 Yeah I would prefer the 116 and the TFT, just don't want to spend that much. I suppose if it wasn't enough on the 111 I could do a Stage 2 down the road. I just don't want it to feel to much slower compared to my Scout.
@@yojohnny5 so the stage 2 on the 111 is just cams. On the 116 its cams, injectors, and throttle body. If you you get a 111 you can always do the stage 3 which is 116 big bore kit, cams, throttle body, injectors, and skip the stage 2. Then add the touch screen ride command tach. It'll cost you more in the long run but if money is tight right now and you gotta have a chief, then eventually you would have the dark horse after doing the stage 3 and changing the tach
I like!
Thanks! She's got a flat rear right now. Waiting on tube and tire
Do you know that the top speed on that bike is? I hear a lot of people it’s either 110 or 120 or something in between.
I’ve been looking to take the speed regulator off but idk where to even start
Limited to 110 from Indian. Easy fix. Get your ecu flashed and tuned. As soon as my freedom 2-1 full system shows up I'm getting a real flash/tune on it.
@@darsoma9522
That’s what I hear, I plan on doing the same thing when all my stuff get here.
It’s a shame they put a limiter on a big twin with a 6 speed tranny
@@johnt4060 I'm just ready for that exhaust to show up!
@@darsoma9522 no doubt! The stock exhaust is kinda lame
@@johnt4060 well hey now, I've got the stage one and ripped out the baffles so she doesn't sound tooo bad right now 🤣
can't find any seat for the 2022 Chief on their website, can you send me the link?
I don't think it's on their website yet but if you go to saddlemens website and call them they've got it
If you search 2022 Indian Chief on the Saddlemen website you’ll see some options.
@@MichaelLee-fp5lh yes found it, thanks.
Nice 👍
Hey bud how’s the comfort for the passenger seat? Is the seat you got the gel seat? I’m thinking of buying it for my 22 Bobber Dark Horse. Thank you! Great video and safe riding!!
I didn’t get the gel insert for the back seat. You always get the gel in the riders seat. Mine is more of a style choice and an “it’s there if I need it” kind of seat. For more dedicated passenger riding, they have one with a bigger footprint for the passenger section that your passenger would much prefer. Doesn’t look quite as sleek, but this one isn’t meant for a ton of passenger use
@@darsoma9522 thank you brother!
I think the best thing anyone can do to a chief would be some thicker handlebars, i just cant get past those skinny looking stock mini apes.
My buddy did that with his and his new bars do look pretty sick
