  • Matt and his partner, Linda, moved in together but didn't have enough space for each of their teen daughters to have a private bedroom. So, they decided to buy two container homes to act as backyard tiny homes for their girls. This gave the girls the privacy they craved, while keeping them close to home. In the future, Matt and Linda may use these container homes for their aging parents.

    I’m in my late twenties and planning to build a tiny house in my mother’s backyard. Rent and house prices in my city are just insane so this is the best option for me to get my own place :)
    EDIT: ok, I get the feeling some people aren’t really reading what I wrote and projecting their own interpretation onto what I said. So I’m going to put it up here for everyone to see.
    MY MOTHER was the one who suggested I get a tiny house in her backyard. I will be paying for the whole thing MYSELF. The average house price in my State of NSW is $1.4 million. I’m still saving hard, but this tiny house will be moveable anywhere I go, and will cost around the $100k mark.
    Hope that clears a few things up

    • @dra6o0n
      @dra6o0n 2 роки тому +8

      Well when your family is living together but have no privacy if the kids are grown up and married, how is that any good?
      Home ownership is off the charts this generation so it's worthwhile to look at all the options, as well as affording to live on your own isn't always possible unless you have a job that earns you 3-5 times more than the minimum wage.
      Why I say 3x or more, is because of income taxes depending on where you live. The more money you make the more is taxed, hence 'less' given in return for your own spending.
      Here in Canada, they imposed a 50% taxation if you go over the 40 hour per week limit, which hampers people wishing to earn more, and forces companies to hire more people in general. But this ends up causing a opposite effect, they hire less, and rotate people more or make them work more days for less hours.
      The only choice is to aim for higher wage tiers, but that comes with it's own category of taxation, as well as responsibilities and hardship depending on the job category.

      @@kevikev214 There is a reason everyone wants to move into Suburbs. Get away from arguments and stress of others. These properties are zoned as residential 1 family lots. Humans do not like change. When these kids grow ,they will have significant others move in and raise kids or move out. If they move out these owners will try to rent and now multiple families on sewer,water,trash,parking, electric,and cable. Where the neighbors have to pay a premium service charge on those amenities. Now those fees and taxes are bypassed. Neighbors properties will drop in value. Would love to see update on this. City and code enforcement probably called daily. Again....climate, climate, climate. Perfect setup for anyone to live; kids, granny in time, etc. and enough layout for one; no problem. Great video....you're at the top of this "chosen field now"....showing videos with good speed, proper panning, sounds that are not too high/low. Good Drone work as well. I can easily see moving into one of these...in a tiny container village with some sort of "Center hub".

      Exactly. I don’t understand the people in these comments saying the dad is loving. The dad is indulgent and the girls probably think they’re just gonna have everything handed to them. Since when did spending $140,000 on your kids become acceptable. That’s a college education, something lots of people can’t afford.

      Easy for people who have not experienced life elsewhere than their own little parts of the world to think so provincially instead of seeing the great solution this is for multiple issues.
