    Wr all the way, I focus on tight off road but love it on back roads and low speed highway.

    Hands down wr250r! Love mine and it has so many good points over the 300L. Sorry to hear about your bike man. People are pieces of shit!

    Agree with everything you said and yep I'm happy with my uncorked WR250R. No way I'd trade it in for this Honda. I also got the front and rear suspension revalved for my weight and it's even BETTER!

    Why do you think the Yamaha won't release a WR300R? They already have a good 300 engine in the XMAX 300 that could probably produce a lot of torque with some adjustments. The only complain about WR250R from its users is that it needs to be reved to get it moving and that could be improved with a higher displacement.

      My money is on Yamaha releasing a tenere 300. The adventure bike market is hot and getting hotter. Throw the Xmax 300 on there with the wr suspension and boom! Don’t get me wrong if they do release a WR300 I’ll be first in line lol

      @@BackwoodsOffroadOverlanding the xmax engine isn't high performance, only SOHC, makes 27.6 HP and 21 ft lb torque. The wr250r/x can make that HP or more with after market exhaust and programmer. Xmax weighs 394 lbs, this tells me xmax 300 engine is heavy

    • @BackwoodsOffroadOverlanding

      Looks like yamaha just released their new wr250f now why couldn’t they just do that with the R ugh what a disappointment

    • @andrewcannon587
      @andrewcannon587 2 роки тому

      Xmax 300 is a SOHC engine, power wise similar to WR250cc, just a tiny bit more torque at low rpm. Yamaha need a more high tech 300cc, or lower tech 350/400cc. I prefer a 333 to 350cc, ~35 HP while keeping the same WR250 frame, brakes and suspension to keep cost down. Personally i feel the current WR250R/X chassis are overbuilt for a 250cc engine, the chassis can handle more stress.

    I am 6’3” so a tall seat concepts seat works for me and is all day comfort. And after valving the front and back suspension with GORace parts… the suspension is next level and I can crush the single track. I wouldn’t trade it for the CRF300.

    I rented a wr for four days this summer. It had great suspension for sure. But that seat was like sitting on a 2x4. My 50 year old ass hurt after about 75 miles every day. Maybe the crf is just geared more for us cushier riders. I havent ridden the crf, but id take a wider, comfier bike at this point. Thanks for the video.

      Lol after a bit of riding the crf would be like sitting on a 2x8. Shorter rides are a bit cushier

    Honda wants people to spend a ton of cash and buy a 450RL. That is why the 300L does not have the upgraded suspension.

    my neighbor bought a crf250L and we compare his 250L with my wr250x. The 250x engine + transmission are much more compact than the 250L, just better design overall than the 250L. I own 2 wr250X. I know the wr250r/x is made in japan while the 250L/300L are made in thailand. Btw, the 300L is only 286 cc, not 300cc

    • @BackwoodsOffroadOverlanding
      @BackwoodsOffroadOverlanding  2 роки тому +1

      Yup and much better quality coming out of Japan!

    • @andrewcannon587
      @andrewcannon587 2 роки тому

      @@BackwoodsOffroadOverlanding also compare the compactness of the engines**. the WR is more compact design, automatically less weight unlike honda crf250/300L cut weight in frame, exhaust pipes to reduce weight, light weight suspension
      ** this mean center of gravity is higher, making it feel heavier too even tho the new 300L had reduced weight alot from the 250L. That is why the 250L/300L is tippy

    Not to mention 2 big bads about the CRF frame. 1. the subframe is 1 piece so if you loop it or overload it and crack it you have a salvage title on your hands. 2. The CRF frame is still mild steel so with beefy after market pegs the frame still gets bent on some come offs, even low speed ones. I had a 2015 250L that I put WAY more money into than I care to admit and the WR250R stock still wrecks it. The KLX300 however might be closer on the mark but so... ugly.

    Been waiting for the dealership to call me now for my 300l over 6 months...got me rethinking. I had a wr250r before but sold it. It's crazy where I'm at wr's are selling for under 5k now! I might think about it.

      I like the 300L but still overall disappointment of the quality. Not a made in Japan bike makes a big difference but there are plenty of aftermarket folks with plenty of upgrades. I really need to get my WR back together and riding it again

      @@BackwoodsOffroadOverlandingI have to tell you that I looked for your video after I got my 300. You are 10000% spot on. It's crazy no one's talked about how stupid that kickstand is and how annoying it is. I was looking forward to the 300 for a year and under one week I want to get rid of it! Ktm 500 or wr250r for me.

    I have a 2015 wr250r and was really considering the crf300l...but after watching your video I'm thinking of holding off to see if yamaha comes out with a wr300r which I hope they do. Keep it single cylinder and light weight. I'm an experienced rider but im short at 5'7" 135 pounds. I did not get a lowering link but I have a seat concepts comfort low seat and I can tippy toe.

    • @BackwoodsOffroadOverlanding
      @BackwoodsOffroadOverlanding  3 роки тому +2

      Not saying the CRF300L isn’t a good bike but Honda for sure could have done a bit better especially in the suspension department! They are hard to get currently might as well wait and see what happens! If Yamaha releases a wr300 or a T300 I’ll be In line for either (I’m hoping for a single cylinder tenere 300 ;) )

    So even with a lowering link was the seat height still too tall? how tall are you? Yes, the suspension on the Wr makes a big difference...What don’t you like about slipper clutch on the crf? Great video, thanks

      @BackwoodsOffroadOverlanding  3 роки тому +1

      I’m 5’9 with about a 30” inseam and was tippie toe on the Wr even with the yamalink. The slipper clutch is just different maybe I’ll get use to it just feels weird and not normal on a bike.
