@@paulneale Great site with a lot of useful material, thanks for that.I hope that we will see many more users of proceduralism tutorials in 3ds max on your channel
@zhongxinjin-z7p so the whole thing doesn't work now? You can't use this in any way? You didn't get anything out of this work flow other then it doesn't work if your pipe is way longer then I have it?
Found something odd. The Script Controller works for the Height Segments on a Cylinder but does not work on a Box or a Gengon. When I do the exact same steps for those two primitives, it sets the Height Segs to 200 and then is not adaptive. It doesn't respond to changes in the multiplier [curveLength SPL * 0.x] and does not respond to altering the length of the Line. Any ideas?
Hmm, not sure as I have done this sort of thing with most privatives. I'll have a go and see if it doesn't work for me but there is no reason why it shouldn't work.
Is there any way to make 2 or more variations of those cylinders so that each know can be r randomly selected from those?I hope you do more of these procedural stuff in max, maybe something like using wave function collapse to do randomized procedural rooms or something.I mainly use max so if its possible to do without going into another app that would be great for workflow.
@@paulneale sorry I mean knots, the cylinders with screws,i was thinking if its possible to have random variations as you extend the spline pipe. And yeah I guess that would involve scripting,I cant seem to find a maxscript for it or sonething similar. There are plugins for like Unreal or Unity,I havent seen for Max ,i think Houdini has.
@@paulneale Thanks for answer to me! I was trying and unfortunately it didn`t work, vertex just moved without extruding My version of the 3D max is 2022, maybe in that version it`s didn`t work like this?
This man is gold. I'm hoping for an extensive series of clips like this, since 3ds max is in a dangerous deficit in that regard.
Clips? Do you mean tutorials for Max? 3dsmaxtutorial.com/

Awesome again. It's A pleasure watching you work, so non destructive and theoretical!
hey finding your channel was a bless, thanks so much
Love it! Great and easy to follow.
Thanks Paul! wonderfully explained. Keep it up.
Awesome!! Super easy!! I can’t stop watching these! Thankyou!
Awesome Tutorial!!! Thank you so much for your Work!
This is so cool man. Keep going. How about to make procedural building tutorial in the future?
insane helpful tutorial, thanks a lot ❤
That's how you do things in Max 😊
Wow!! 😮 this is so awesome! Thanks a lot!
it is great! but the cylinder or other primitives have the limited max segments, when the shape length pass over the limit,it doesn't work

I want to know how to achieve this effect of making a pipe with curves in MAYA

@@paulneale Cool. I'll try it again also to see if I missed something.

Wave collapse like you ask would be getting into scripting but I could look at doing something one day on it. Not sure when.
And randomly select what Cylinder? The pipe it self?

@@MrPangahas What plugins are you asking about?
@@MrPangahas And there might be ways of driving a random selection of the alan bolts but I'm not sure why I would want them to be random.
You make it look like houdini
Yeah and I think it's awesome)
Wow...❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you for tutorial!
But how did you add a new vertex in spline? Maybe it`s a hot key?
Shift Drag

@@Konstantine_Ars Yes I think that was added in 2023.
I don`t see any of these option here in my Motion tab, is it Max 2024.02 stuff?
Yup, motion panel has been updated. Nothing that you can't already do through the dope sheet how ever.
amazing .. thank you
As someone who knows nothing about scripting in 3dsmax, is curveLength a built in function?
Nice buddy!
Brilliant, thanks!
thanks
nice!!
