    MCG tutorials are very few. Your tutorials are very meaningful. Thank you. I hope to see more tutorials on MCG in the future

    Man 3ds Max is so powerful these tools are so underrated people just don't take advantage of it, You literally have infinite possibilities with this as well as OSL etc . . .

      This isn't needed anymore as we now have the array modifier.

    The biggest limitation of MCG that prevented widespread adoption is the mere fact that you cannot see in real time in the viewport what you're building. It's all good when you know your stuff, but for a first day starter on MCG, this is a major roadblock. Too bad AD can no longer update this otherwise great concept of node scripting...
    Great tut, btw!

    I know this is a year old, but I have a question: I followed along and made a wall, which is for a project. But I wanted to give a random rotation to each element of the wall, not gradually like you have, but random each time, so the wall is crooked. Is there a way to do it?

      Have you looked at the Array Modifier and explored what it can do?

      @@paulneale Hi Paul, yes, I've just updated to 2023. I was using 2022. I've got it to do exactly what I wanted.
      The sad part: I didn't like how it looked. But now I know, at least :)
      Thanks for the reply though

    • @paulneale
      @paulneale  2 роки тому

      You make modifiers, procedural models, controllers and the like, you don't use it for adding existing modifiers to other objects. That is what Max Script is for.

    Wow , thanks for a brill tutorial,
    If you wish to expand at all , how could you set first and last to different geometry?
    Eg hook one end and a ring the other
    Thanks again

    • @paulneale
      @paulneale  2 роки тому

      Might be best as a create geometry type MCG where you can select geometry to be placed on the a path instead of a modifier. Can easily be done.

    • @paulneale
      @paulneale  2 роки тому

      Just did a test with a modifier and it works perfectly. You need a couple node inputs and a little voodoo and all is perfect.

    is it possible to modifier for splines and not meshes?

    • @paulneale
      @paulneale  3 роки тому

      You can create a spline primitive but I don't think there is a modifier that directly works on and outputs a spline.
