The Royal Mint really stepped up their counterfeit security solutions with the release of the 2021 Britannia Gold and Silver Coins. The coins feature 4 new security solutions for 2021 making this new Britannia one of the most secure bullion investment coins in existence today. The threat of fake coins, fraud and money laundering is real and I'm happy to see that the Royal Mint made these changes. I also think the coin looks visually stunning and I personally look forward to owning both the Gold and Silver versions. I have placed a pre-order for the 2021 Silver Britannia's through APMEX and they are tentative to ship to me by the 4th week of October, 2020. A video will follow of their unboxing when they arrive.

Thats why I only buy from reputable sources. JM Bullion, APMEX, or directly from the U.S Mint.
I don't do eBay or Amazon.
I buy from Liberty Coin on eBay, and Apmex on eBay usually that is it unless its supplies or something else. I prefer JM Bullion for price and Apmex for shipping/selection.
@@floridastacker Agreed! The way my budget is right now, I shop almost exclusively with JM Bullion because of price. APMEX has great shipping. A small order I placed a few weeks ago; less than $180 with APMEX shipped the same day, and I was really happy with that.
The only gold I can afford to buy are the fractional 1/10th oz gold coins and the smaller 5 gram down to 1 gram gold bars. And of course I buy as many Silver Eagles as I can.
I'm on course to being 100% debt free by summer 2022. So that's where the bulk of my money goes; paying off my debt. Once that's done, I'll be in a better position to buy other gold and silver.

Good choice! You had a great review as well. I had already started working on this project several days back and decided to finish it as I think we'll see more videos on this coin when they start showing up for unboxings. I have 5 coming and hopefully can order 5 more this weekend.

Great presentation. I preordered 5. I may have to grab another 15 before long. I do wish however, that the smaller (privy like) security feature was a bit smaller, so as to not take away from the coin. Thanks.

My stack is mostly American silver/patriot themed but I do have a 10oz Brittania Bar and a half tube of 2020 coins, they are good looking! Wish the US Mint would create 'Lady Liberty' bars and coins to rival the Brits! 🇺🇸 🗽 😎

I love the chariot on the original 1997. I need to pick up a few more of the 1997's but at the moment looking at bulk stacking and Gold sovereigns (due to the CGT rules here IN the UK). But a tube of 2021's is definitely on my purchase list now I ticked off my 2020 Libertads, Kookaburras and 2 China Pandas (don't like paying the CCP but I have the aim I two complete sets).

I have a complete set of Britannia's including the proofs. I love them and not just because I'm a Brit. Due to Capital Gains Tax I'm looking to shift into the UK standard bullion coins now I've hit my target of 10 complete sets of Kookaburras.

Looks like these features on the coin will become standard as the prices rise.
I see more coin changes with the other mints to follow now that the US and UK have followed Canada with the added security.

Hi I have the 1/4 ounce 2021 Britannia (gold) an a 1 ounce Silver 2021 Britannia because I am from the UK they have been available here for a month now or so. I can confirm these coins look a lot better than the 2020 versions. Mainly due to the waves and added detail on the shield it just looks a lot more 3D and impressive let alone more secure. I Hope that gives some insight.

I really like the new security features I don't own any Britannia Gold but this peaks my interest.
The only issue that I had with the article and I know you didn't write it, is the use of BCE which takes Christ out of the equation. It is from his birth until now is how we keep track of the years.

The biggest issue facing gold US coins is that they are not pure enough for the Asian market. I hope they sort that.
Should have put security feature in Lizzy's crown (or face lol) instead of having it look like a "stain" on Britannia's gown. If it doesn't look better in person, my fav coin has been ruined - IMHO...
That's actually a pretty good suggestion on the location. I'm optimistic however for this coin as a whole. I feel like it steps the Britannia up a notch globally.

I don't like how the security features are becoming more prominent than the coins themselves and are becoming the main feature.
I think the security detail should be subtle and blend in with the coin. The security details aren't that important. Blank planchets of gold and silver are testable and can be proven to what they are as they have been for thousands of years due to their unique properties, laser engravings although nice are not required to identify a metal.
Counterfeiters will use lasers in the near future too, it's a meaningless exercise.
