- This game feels super dated now, it's kind of crazy looking back.
But it was a great game in its day. There's not much story that goes on in between in the cutscenes, but I left a little extra in just to reminisce. Some amazing cutscenes for its time.
Killzone takes place in a fictional world set in the year 2357. After nuclear war rendered much of the Earth uninhabitable in 2055, world governments formed an international order known as the United Colonial Nations. Partnering with private firms, the UCN moved to establish human colonies in Alpha Centauri, a system occupied by two planets: Vekta, a rich Earth-like world (named after the CEO of the mining conglomerate Helghan, Philip Vekta), and Helghan, a barren wasteland named after the same company. The Helghan Corporation sought to buy ownership of Vekta as well, but when the UCN imposed sanctions against its unfair business practices, a war broke out (known as the First Extrasolar War), which led to the ISA, the military arm of the UCN, driving the company out of Vekta. In response, the exiled colonists established their own civilization on Helghan, built on the principles of militarism and authoritarianism. The harsh environment and atmosphere killed many Helghans, forcing the survivors to use respirators and air tanks just to breathe. Eventually, the population, now known as the Helghast, mutated into pale-skinned hairless humanoids with increased strength, stamina, and intelligence. Violently xenophobic and convinced of their superiority, the Helghan consider humans to be beneath them, and dream of one day reconquering Vekta and expanding their empire to Earth and the neighboring star systems.

But it was a great game in its day. But it did lead to Killzone 2 and 3, which are imo some of the best shooters in the PS3 era. There's not much story that goes on in between in the cutscenes, but I left a little extra gameplay in just to reminisce. Some amazing cutscenes for its time.

The control scheme for 2 was dogshit, and the Helgast "MG-42" clone was decent, all I remember about killzone.
Always liked the extended lore and story though, just wish it played better.
@@xmm-cf5eg Just played the 2 can confirm about the control scheme. It felt like I was driving a truck sometimes. Annoying as fuck. Especially during boss fights.
I adore the ISA dropship. Impractical but awesome. It's like a flying pickup.

You know I think Sony really needs to revive the Killzone series I feel like Gorilla Games doesn't care about the Killzone series anymore since they are so highly focused on the horizon series don't get me wrong I consider Horizon zero Dawn and forbidden West game of the year but they need to revive the Killzone series by remaking the first KillZone game for PS4 and PS5 this will help entice new gamers get into the Killzone series and even make a new multiplayer mode that is similar to Killzone 3
i was like 10 years old and didnt know English yet. But still i loved this game so much that i still remember by memory the intro speech. Now im revisiting it to understand the story 15 years latter. It was my favorite game from my childhood. And can we all appreciate a game from so long ago with this (simple but) good charachter writing ?
They need to bring this series back. It was so good.

yo this is perfect. Just got killzone 2 and 3 and was looking for something to watch for the first game. The cutscenes plus some of the dialogue while playing is exactly what i wanted. Great stuff
This series of games needs a remaster. I loved them.
When you realize the Helghast were the good guys the whole time!!! God I love this game I still play it & Killzone 2.
P.S that opening speech cinematic is one of the best openings in gaming.
If you read the whole backstory to Killzone, both the ISA and the Helghast are in the wrong, you should be rooting for Earth, not the two sides in the actual games, neither are necessarily good.

For all the franchises narrative faults, the first one easily had the best characterization IMO followed by 3.

Shadowfall is the weakest in the entry but the other games had good in terms of lore and played well except for 2 which was a bit buggy but still good

My PC-Elite-Gamersoul is bleeding ... argh ... i can even feel the Pain from every Helghastsoldier.
But i bet back in the Days, it was a great Game.
the setting atmoshpere and look of the enemies are cool. but the gameplay is so slow and clunky, and at times infuriatingly shit. it very much feels like the first baby steps into modern fps games, and it does not pull it off succesfully. and the remastered version has terrible blurry cutscenes, like they ripped the scenes from a youtube channel. i guess they lost all the assets. what comes after is cool, but this game in current date is not worth anyones time. just whats a cutscene movie like this.
Fun fact: the Actor who does the Helghast Leader speech is the Fabulous Brian Cox who has been in about a billion kick ass movies including Super Troopers 1 and 2, Nuremberg, Churchill and even played alongside Johnny Knoxville in the Ringer; which I’m sure the SJWS and Leftist Hollywood would never allow know. Watch your freedoms disappear now that Biden’s here! Brian Cox was in Jason Bourne Trilogy and he is talking up McDonald’s with his killer Scottish Accent’ why do kick ass people come from Scotland? Funny ass movie on Amazon Video Get Duked is fucking hilarious!
