Two years after the attempted Helghast invasion of Vekta, an ISA fleet led by Colonel Jan Templar is sent to attack Pyrrhus, the capital city of Helghan, with the goal of deposing and arresting Emperor Scolar Visari on charges of war crimes. Among the ISA units taking part in the attack is Alpha Squad, led by Jan's old comrade Ricardo "Rico" Velasquez. Sergeant Tomas "Sev" Sevchenko, a veteran of the ISA "Legion" battalion, is assigned to serve as his second-in-command.
Tasked with securing Pyrrhus against the fierce resistance of the Helghan Second Army, the team quickly discovers that the Helghast are well prepared for an invasion. Using Helghan's harsh environment to their advantage, they have developed new weapons and equipment, none of which the ISA has ever seen before. Furthermore, the planet's fog-like atmosphere, gritty deserts, and constant storms pose almost as much of a threat to the invaders as the enemy themselves.

The graphics on this game was ahead of it's time. Killzone is probably one of the most underrated video game series of all time.
Agreed on that. Killzone 2 has a breathless pace from start to finish with great shooting mechanics. It's a shame it's so undervalued

the graphics only are what makes a game good ,The characters and voice acting wasnt the greatest of that time and the story wasnt that good too
It was overshadowed modern warfare 2 and left 4 dead 2 both came out the same year
They pushed the power of the PS3 very professionally and made a game that’s outstanding

I think that they don’t want to put money in a remastered, cuz many people won’t like it, and the mechanics that this have in the ps3 was unique, and would be a hard work to change it for ps5 but I have hope, that they would make that shit would be great and the multiplayer shit that’s was awesome

I like how everything goes from bad to worse and how every moment where you might be hopeful immediately gets crushed by cynical reality. Templar manages to bring down the grid when he crashes the ship and everyone thinks he didn't die for nothing. Then the Helghast drop a nuke and make every loss suffered by the ISA meaningless.
Killzone is one Underated Series,Its Story is cool and the Helgast has to be the Most Coolest looking Villains I've seen.
The Shooting,Melee,Cover,Explosions,SFX and Visuals its all Amazing.

This is honestly my most favorite Killzone, still Kinda wished to have played as a Helgan defending his Homeland in contrast to a Vektan defending his in the last one. It'll be a much more better plot and really gives insight on the minds of the soldiers fighting on both sides of the war. Nevertheless I loved this, the actions scenes and gameplay are amazing and the graphics are good for it's time, and it still holds up to this day.

Sev sitting at the end, has some weird detail to it. I think he really took what Visari said to heart. That if they were to capture him, Helgan will go into chaos against the ISA. More blood, more war. I think he realized that Rico literally killing visari, that this was definitely going to get WORSE. So although they stated they were fucked before they stormed in to where Visari was hiding, it's a whole new level of "Shit dude we're FUCKED fucked aren't we?". And he just sits there and doesn't care about the waves of enemies he was concerned about before.

Killzone 3 happens to finish up the story and later on Killzone 4.
Wishing this series never fell off. One of the best shooters on PS. Even for todays standards the graphics held up fairly well.
This game was the reason I bought a PS3 back in 2011. I already had a Xbox 360 since 2009, but Halo just did not have the same charm. The Killzone series is a forsaken masterpiece.

I remember how cinematic and next gen the graphics this game had and Its just too good.
I really loved how smooth the gameplay is despite it actually running on 30fps and I think this one of few games where the motion blur actually looks appealing.
The multiplayer to this game was super competitive. It was extremely fun. I loved it so much!
One of my favourite games that I used to play during childhood...Colonel Radec is one of the best videogame villain...I absolutely love that character

the thing i love about this series is that it's never hollywood-esque sort of corny/cheesy, it's just so dark and tragic, every single moment that seems hopeful is immediately smashed into a brick wall of even more tragedy, so much death in vain, makes you feel nothing but regret, things get worse and worse, it's just a great fictional perception of reality
watching this made me wanna go dust off my super old ps3, plug it in and play this amazing game again
I remember my brother bought this game over COD WAW and I was kind of upset but then I started playing it and now it holds some great memories.
Both this and CoD WAW are literal masterpieces of gaming. They cannot be compared

Just got to the middle of the game, and it suddenly freezed, fully. Had the feeling of non-accompished mission that I had to complete. Thanks for making this game movie, it gave me a chance to look how this great game had ended. Now I am going to play third part with all the plot sense that I needed. Appreciate it. Thanks a lot

@@Decepticon117 I don't think there's a canonical explanation. He ends up as the second player character in Killzone 3 all the way to the end (yet makes no general appearance) so I assume he made it despite not being in the cutscenes or even being mentioned.

Radec was such a great baddie. KZ2 needs a full 100% remake for PS5.
They need a remaster for PS5. Even a simple upgrade like higher res textures and 4K at 120fps would be awesome.
One thing interesting about the whole plot is the ISA is the invader and the aggressor where as the Helghast is trying to defend their home. However, the ISA is made to look like the good guys. Shows the true nature of conflicts where neither side is 100% the good guys or bad guys.
This game was the first game I played online for a PS system.

The german writers at Guerilla clearly have no idea that nuclear radiation exists. Red Dust should have rendered Pyrrhus Uninhabitable even by Helghast standards.

How did Templar go from a spec-ops captain to commanding an entire fleet? I know he did a lot of important stuff in the last two games but I've never seen someone climb the ranks that quickly.
He was born to command, and command he did.
I got Killzone 2 and Shadow Fall. I really like about ISA and VSA.

I know that Rico is arguably the most unpopular character in the killzone series but you have to admit that guy Richards that Rico beat from 1:13:50 to 1:14:08 had it coming for talking about Jan Templar that way.

In another movie video where the pitch wasn't altered, parts of his speech were muted by YT for whatever reason. So I imagine they had to get around that issue for their video.

Radec deserved better, one of the best villains in video game history - much more likable than Sev and Rico IMO. Even Visari had so much charism and value to the franchise that killing him off could never replicate or replace with KZ3 and Shadow Fall.

I beat this on the hardest level... Not the hardest shooter I've played (that would be PS1's One), but it's the hardest FPS i've ever played. So well done, 3 and shadowfall doesn't compare in terms of the main game. I did like 3's multiplayer better than 2's but 2 was so visceral that it wasn't dislike but pure intensity that made the mulitplayer both hard to play and stop playing.
Killzone 2 one of the best PS3 titles it was overshadowed left 4 dead w that came out the same year but released it late 2009 and modern warfare 2 came out in November 2009 where that game Exploded into popularity probably forgot this game

Killzone 1 had the perfect balance of believable sci fi. Killzone 2 went backwards. Killzone 3 was a Frankenstein. Love Killzone series but yeah kz1 the best. Want to recreate that success look at your first entry.

I really hated this series for the biggest and most damming flaw, ONLY BEING ABLE to play as the 💩 ISA. I didn't even bother to finish none of them, before I got irritated. Now if this is remastered and redone with a fully fleshed out Helghast campaign, I'd gladly check out that.
