FMS Model 1:18 CHEVROLET K10
Every Chevrolet truck has its own story behind it. Pickup trucks have always been an American car culture and the symbol of the American spirit. This was until GM's brought a new set of naming principles - the C for rear-wheel drive and the K for four-wheel drive in their all-new lineup of Chevrolet pickups.
With a tailgate that lowers the loading height, a spacious cab and a sunken frame, FMS’new 1:18 CHEVROLET K10 adheres to the revolutionary "square body" and features a perfectly replicated K series in terms of 4wd, metal beams, aluminum frame rails and reliable multi-link suspension system.
RC model pickups with hard plastic bodyshells are rare and precious, when mostly SUVs dominate the area. The large cargo space and retractable tailgate makes it easy to carry all kinds of 1/18 simulation parts such as motorcycles, kayaks and various camping equipment.
As a perfect 1/18 duplicate, the FMS CHEVROLET K10 shares the same linear design with the real car, as well as a curved grille and outside front bumper. Elegant detailing with a premium two-tone color scheme, the body's mirrors and front and rear bumpers. Move the camera and focus on the spacious and comfortable car's interior, from the bench seats to a center console and steering wheel.
Open the hood and explore the large inside space where the motor, ESC, receiver and battery are readily accessible, making upgrading an easy task. Light sets have linked light control functions with light control plug-ins including headlights, turn signals and reverse lights.
Scale replica K10 tires and wheels as featured on the real truck, moulded in a soft all-terrain pattern for running on any terrain.
The 1/18 Chevrolet K10 - perfect as a static model until you switch on and imagine yourself behind the wheel of a legendary Chevy Pick-up! A surprise gift from FMS for you in 2021.
C/K is a series of trucks that was manufactured by General Motors from the 1960 to 2002 model years. Marketed by both the Chevrolet and GMC divisions, the C/K series encompassed a wide range of vehicles. While most commonly associated with pickup trucks, the model line also included chassis-cab trucks and medium-duty trucks and served as the basis for GM full-size SUVs. Through its entire production, the model line competed directly against the Ford F-Series and the Dodge D series (later the Dodge Ram pickup).
Used for both the model branding and the internal model code, "C" denoted two-wheel drive; "K" denoted four-wheel drive. Four generations of the model line were produced, including the second-generation "Action Line" and third-generation "Rounded Line" vehicles. For the fourth generation, GMC revised its branding, changing to a singular GMC Sierra nameplate (C/K remained as an internal model code).
For South America, the model line was manufactured by General Motors Brazil, who produced versions of the model line for Brazil, Argentina, and Chile from 1964 to 2001.
As GM entered the 1990s, the company revised its truck ranges, replacing the medium-duty C/K trucks with the Chevrolet Kodiak/GMC TopKick for 1990. For 1999, GM replaced the fourth-generation C/K pickup trucks with an all-new model line; in line with GMC, Chevrolet dropped the C/K nameplate (in favor of a singular Chevrolet Silverado nameplate). Initially marketed with its successor, the final C/K pickup trucks were produced for the 2000 model year. From 2001 to 2002, the final vehicles of the C/K model line were heavy-duty chassis cab trucks.
The third-generation C/K was introduced for the 1973 model year. Designated the "Rounded Line" generation by General Motors, the C/K grew in size inside and out. As pickup trucks increased in use as personal vehicles, cab features and options moved closer in line with GM sedans (with power windows and power door locks becoming options). To further expand its practicality, a four-door crew cab body was introduced (offering 6-passenger seating).
While relatively straight-lined and boxy in appearance (leading to their "Square-body" nickname from the public). - Авто та транспорт
When I saw the thumbnail for this I honestly thought I was looking at a real vehicle! Beautifully done and the interior of the camper is really beautifully molded. Also a clever touch for the manufacturers of the RC truck to put the main operating components under the hood.
Thanks a lot!
Just picked this truck up for sale for $99! Man what a cool, capable RC
I wasn't in love with this range of 1/18 scale RC crawlers *until* the price dropped. Just ordered a Rochobby Fire Horse (FMS, RocHobby and Eazy RC are all same company, just different "trim levels") which is a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4 door in disguise. $68.99!
Love this kit I grew up back when these were everwhere
Thank you! And thanks for watching :)
Now that's how a truck is supposed to look like. Sweet. Awesome Job. Keep up the good work. Wow!!!
Great job on weathering the truck up Chris it looks like a true off-road camper 👍👍
Thank you! And thanks for watching :)
Very cool as usual.
Thank you! And thanks for watching :)
Excellent & very entertaining presentation 👏👍😀!!!
Thank you! And thanks for watching :)
Cool bud! Wow, looks like the real deal! 👍👍✌🏻🍻
Thank you! And thanks for watching :)
@@hpiguy - yes indeedy buddy, you’re very welcome!
inspiring! I'm currently waiting on a WPL C24 1/16 scale Toyota Hilux RC Kit to arrive in the mail. Can't wait to try a few things out. Thank you, and always love the content.
Thank you! And thanks for watching :)
Truck turned out awesome! I really like it with the camper.
Thank you! And thanks for watching :)
Very cool, thanks for sharing the part about your grandpa.
Beautifully done ✔ 👏
Wow! You weathered that Chebby super nice! Awesome work! 👍
Thank you! And thanks for watching :)
Nothing had rust out like a chebby,,plus " lucky " owners never washed them properly which didn't help, mud liked to settle down into those square wheel wells hence the jagged fenders just like saw blades & gm never changed that problem
.
The interior looks Awesome ,better than the plane black .
The weathering looks spot on ,I have owned ,a few square body Chevy trucks .
The interior of the camper Awesome too ,
You do great work ,bringing this truck Alive .
I had a '78 silverado C10 2 wd ,silver with white stripe and a white cab top .
The video at the end was very cool
Thank you!
Your a talented individual at weathering these models and making them look so realistic. In the pictures I thought I was looking at the real truck. Loved the seat cover.
Great job on this one, doing the interior of the camper. Like the idea of that cloth seat for the truck.
Thank you! And thanks for watching :)
I think everybody had at least one sqware body GM truck if you are old enuff to remember those. Great video!
Thank you!
Chris those stills absolutely look like a REAL truck sitting there! 🚑 help is on the way (bad driver) 😂
Thank you! And thanks for watching :)
nice build love the mix of different colors that really put it toghther
Thank you! Cheers!
Saddle or Indian Blanket seat covers are still available today!
And yes, EVERY beat up truck back in the late 70's and 80's had one, or two...
Thank you! And thanks for watching :)
Cool stuff always 😎 👌 👍
Top Job !! it looks real.. Bet your Granpaw would love it !!!
If you've ever been to Wisconsin you've seen these old Chevys, Fords and Dodges rusted to hell like this - very few nice survivors in the land of cheese and beer.
Chris - your detail work reminds me of that World famous upholstery shop "SEW FINE". Really - truly amazing. Your artist's "eye" sees, remembers and duplicates the things that make models real - scratches, mud, rust and fading. Thanks for sharing that talent with us! SEW FINE
I agree. It's a replica not a duplicate, and your eye for picking up the highlights is tremendous.
Wow, thank you!
Thank you! And thanks for watching :)
Man this is a dream, wish you’d sell that thing to me, I absolutely love your work, very good brother!
That simulation of making it look old and abused looks freakin on point! Awesome! Good job! 💯
wow just wow, i have this RC car myself
Thank you! And thanks for watching :)
Definitely my favourite build of 2022 Chris!! Thankyou so much for sharing all your tips and tricks that went on in this build. Have a great weekend buddy ☺️👍
Awesome, thank you!
Cool build! My Grandpa also had a slide in camper, but used it on a Ford "Camper Special" F-350. Drove out from the Midwest to Brownsville TX every winter and spent some time in Mexico. Seeing this was quite a nostalgia trip!
Awesome, looks like every Chevy truck on the road. In the rust belt states anyway. Love it.
Thank you! And thanks for watching :)
I picked one up before the Christmas holidays. Tore it apart and detailed it up like a nice going to town rig. White wagon spoke bead locks and BFG All Terrains. This lil rig actually got me building 1/25 models again. My main financial drain has been scale R/C trucks....
Thanks for watching!
Nothing better than a scale model that can actually run.
@@hpiguy I see the liquid chrome pen and the testors panel line accent bottle. What is the sharpie you used and the pen you did the door seams amd gas tank door seams?
Excellent work! I love your videos and the content is always interesting. This truck was especially well done!!!
Glad you enjoy it!
Awesome job!
Thank you!
Wow! When I saw this as I was scrolling through the videos this morning, I thought this was just another awesome model you had built Chris, I never dreamed it was an RC truck! What a beauty, and of course another awesome job by you detailing this gorgeous truck!
Wow, thanks!
Thanks a lot!
This is so awesome!!! Great video
Looks awesome 👍
It looked awesome before you started, but your weathering made it look like a real truck. Keep up the good work 👏 🙌 👍 👌
Nice work as always Chris!
When you pulled out the fabric for the seats, I was like "NO HE DIDN'T!!! Wait, WHAT!!! No he did not!!! OH YES HE DID!!!!" LOL
Yeah, a fun trick and it looks scale when glued into place and crumpled a bit.
That is an awesome replication of the old Square Body pickups! Absolutely incredible weathering detail and I like the seat cover! Very 70's- 80's! That camper with interior is awesome! I've been getting into the RC side of the hobby as of this year with some Caterpillar construction equipment!
Thanks a bunch!
Needs a little light inside camper. I lived in a sheepherders version while taking tourist on trail rides on horses in the Black Hills, South Dakota for the summer.
Thank you! And thanks for watching :)
Thank you for posting this video I just bought the same kits and I was looking for one ideas on painting my kits nice job and thanks for the video
I can't tell if that's squatting in the rear or it's torque twist. Either way, great video. There are a few things on Thingiverse that you can print for the K10 and the Glacier.
It squats like the real ones do with that much weight.
But also the springs are super soft for rock crawling.
Looks so good, great job
Thank you 😋
Cool .................... 👍👍👍👍
Thank you!
No Sir. Correction. That's not considered a rock crawler. That's what's called a scale trail truck👍 very cool video. Can't wait to see more of it.
Looks great
Fantastic.
Thank you! Cheers!
Great job Chris! I loved this so much I went and ordered one myself. Just got mine today. Let’s see how much trouble I can cause… 😂
Beautiful! What your top'-heavy beast needs is what the real truck has -- anti-sway bars. They'd be easy to bend out of stiff wire and mount to the chassis and suspension. How about an off-road ambulance with miniature strobes on top?
You've captured the look perfectly.
Yup, as is from the box it's made for rock crawling with very very soft springs.
Like I mentioned, you can simply stiffen the stock springs but I want to remove the camper for some fun crawling now and then.
That's hella awesome!!
Thanks!
I'm not going to do that to mine, but you really did an excellent job on this!
Nice truck!
Thank you! And thanks for watching :)
I’m getting that K10 for my birthday also I love RC cars and weathering! You did a Amazing job btw looks real!!
Awesome! Thank you!
Great eye for detail that truck looked 30 to 40 years older when you got done it looks amazing!
Thanks 👍
Hi Chris, Norm here and just want to say great video, I'm always amazed at your weathering skills and want to try it but just can't get it in my brain to do it, I have a couple models in my stash that would be perfect to do so all I need to do is get my head in the game, keep up the great work and you do inspire me to be the best modeler i can be for me👍
You won't know until you try, and remember that you're building it up in layers. The key is that paper towel-- most of the paint comes off before the brush hits the model.
Keep having fun!
The nice thing with craft paints is that if you don't like the work you can scrub it all off and retry.
Fantastic stuff!
Thank you! And thanks for watching :)
That's so funny, I just learned the silly putty trick yesterday!
A classic way to mask. Enjoy!
that would fit right in here in LA with all the people living in trucks and RV's
Thanks!
It even has GM’s new tree hugger logo on the box.
That thing is really awesome. I’ve been thinking about getting one and see about building it how I was going to build up a old ‘75 K20 I had. It was red and white, but due to the red getting oxidized, it looked orange and white.
Thank you! And thanks for watching :)
That is sweet buddy may have to get one of these myself
Thank you! And thanks for watching :)
Wish they would do it as a 24th 25th scale styrene kit
They do make a 76 and 78 Chevy and GMC model kit styrene
Cool truck buddy
Thank you! And thanks for watching :)
@@hpiguy my pleasure buddy
I just bought the fms type 82e
Magnifique travail, on dirait une vrai !
With the right color this could pass for the the truck in the show The Dall Guy. And it's a long wheel base.
Correct, easy enough to repaint.
Very nice, looks like my truck except for it's blue and a lot more beat up.
Thank you! And thanks for watching :)
Thats fun mate.! Looks good.!! "unscrewing" The pregnant woman? HAAAAA..!!!
Thank you! And thanks for watching :)
Wow
Another awesome build, watching your videos got me back into the hobby after a 10 year absence. Where do you get your music that plays in your videos? There are some familiar sounding tunes but can't put my finger on where they are from.
I just use free mellow music from the internet. Google helps you find it under royalty free music.
Awsome work Chris!!! But you need to practice on your driving skills.
LOL, yeah she's a might bit top heavy for bombing around.
I owned a 1975 Chevy Scottsdale bought by my dad brand new 😔 i dont have it anymore o how i miss my girl
Wish they made 67 -72 c10s like this scale in models
i ordered the hilux box for the bed and black cover too before the trucks even come😂
The wheelbase looks a little funky
Who else laughed when it flipped over?😂😂😂
LOL
A + again Chris. Will you be tackling the Aries from Moebius? It is a beast of a kit
Thanks!
I can never get Moebius to speak to me via FB or emails, etc. so I won't be getting that kit.
Modelroundup sends me the Moebius automobiles and trucks for review.
Take care!
I got a 1:1 scale K-20, 1976 mustard yellow and white two tone, daily driver. May have to see about this, wish someone made a static kit of one.
The grille on the 1/18 K10 makes it a 1977-78 model I think, so that minor detail is the only thing "wrong" with making it a '76. I would be willing to bet someone has made different 3D printed grilles for it. However, it would be easy to cut out the grille area and make your own with styrene strips, 7 vertical slats, 3 horizontal.
By and large most in-bed campers overhang the bed on all sides and most importantly had a full length door at the rear which meant you removed the tailgate. I think the camper you used is also underscale, maybe 1/20 scale?
If you don't mind me asking, what are the exact colors you used for the interior piece stove, cabinets etc etc. Thanks. Jim
Could you do videos for accessories that would work with this rc truck
what white filament do you use? Sexy RC truck btw!!!
What??? I thought that was a real truck until I saw the channel name.
Thank you!
All you need now is a r/c flat bottom boat and trailer to pull behind it.
2:53 shucks i thought this was gonna be a build everything type of model that most people get.
Hello there do you know where I can purchase the gears for the axials and transfer box I’d be very grateful thank you 🙂
How to have the flash orange light by button radio?
man its nice, but this is an investment LOL
Yes, and lots of fun too.
I see on ebay they have all kinds of other accessories
Yeah, looking to get the Toyota model and custom it all out with a different look than the Chevy
What are the length and width measurements of rhe camper in inches?
Where did you find the body for the camper?
It's named on screen and I say where it comes from about 6 times during the video. I even say and show on screen where to find a link to the entire line of stuff the guy offers.
Thanks for watching!
@@hpiguy yea sorry after I asked I saw it
I weathered the Toyota hilux from them
I plan on getting that truck too and using different accessories on it. Stay tuned!
@@hpiguy also if you are looking for a fj rc in blue Easyrc makes it in blue and its just fms under a different name
We're can you get one?
Information on how to acquire the items is listed in the video on screen and spoken numerous times. Thanks!
Scale sizes befuddle me. I now use this "method". 1/18 scale means if you build EIGHTEEN of these models and line them up - end to end they would be the length of the ACTUAL truck. If these were 1/24 it would take 24 models end to end to be the same length as the real truck. And 1/72 would need 72 models to equal the length of the full sized truck. Thinking this way when seeing a model, you can quickly work out how big or small it will be next to a real one - truck, tank, car or boat, scale = how many will equal the real thing
Correct.
Yes, you have it correct.
To figure out the size of a model you'd take the real length in inches and divide by the scale.
If the length of a real truck is 180 inches, simply divide that by 25 to see how long it is in 1/25 scale.
can I buy one of these?
Fucking thought this was a real truck in the thumbnail
I see whats wrong the driver fell out when it rolled over.
He's kinda wreckless for sure.
Truck needs a driver and passenger. Exceleent improvement otherwise!
Thank you!
You would throw that damn trouble just to make that once nice looking truck look like total s***
