As I watch this I can't help having a huge grin om my face from the sheer joy Finnegan has with this boat. His love of boating is incredibly contagious...and I've never been speed boating but now I sure want to...
I grew up with Drag boats at Marine Stadium in Long Beach love and miss it so stoked for Finnegan you can see the pure joy and buying that boat and hanging with his buddies give them hell love y’all
Its so sketchy going that fast riding onto of the water but soooo freaking fun cus it's so sketchy. Never been boat racing but been on some fast boats before. Jet skis are wild too.
Right? He said I sold my boat and I was gonna be out for good, but he was looking at boats online the day after he sold his lol.. Nothing like money burning a hole in your pocket.
When my Papa was still with us, he worked law enforcement for 32 yrs. Retired outta Water Patrol. He worked on Barkley and Kentucky Lakes. They'd have jet boat races on KY lake every year and he'd always work em'. Always loved hearing the stories and getting to go out w/him on occasion as a child. Glad you're helping keep the sport alive Mike!
Mike you are one class act. I met you years ago on a trip to Mopars at the Strip when when you guys took the Super Bee out. I road tripped the Orange Cuda with you from Barstow. My son Jake and I have followed you ever since. Love this series as I gives the back story of what goes on in the pits between rounds. Keep it up.
Mike, see that you just used the phrase "game on" that's exactly the name I wrote for the new boat in a previous post! It's a natural progression for naming. Looking forward to the series of episodes! Take care. DB Long Island, NY. Ps:Yes we have drag boats and gassers here.
You could call it 1UP. A new life after game over, also forgot to say, I absolutely love you content and your giddy attitude towards everything in life. Keep doing you!
Hey Finn, beautiful boat mate. Down here in Australia out black widow spiders have a red back, being Aussies we got real inventive and called them Redbacks. That top shot of the boat with the stripe looks just like one. If the boys haven't given her a name yet, I reckon Redback would be a fitting name.
You just took me back! My dad lives in Bakersfield and I got stationed at Beale Air Force base north of Sacramento for my first 8.5 years. I spent MANY weekends at Lake Ming ripping his 1970’s V-Drive Sanger flat bottom across the backside of that lake. That was between 2000-2008 and he still has it. It’s got a big block built by Dale Lambert who was a legend of an engine builder/tuner in the Bakersfield hot rod/drag boat scene. Enjoy the new boat and can’t wait to see more liquid quarter mile content!
There is no greater feeling in the world and back in your jet out in the water starting it up and when the pump finally catches prime the boat shifts forward on the trailer and the engine loads and you know your ready to rip! 👌🏼 congrats bud! Sick boat! Sad to see the placecraft go but this this is sick!
Mike!!! Damn FUN!!! Massive Thanks!! Really have enjoyed all your content. Regular guy stuff, from a couple of EXTRODINARY, regular guys. I'm sure I'm speaking for a lot of us in saying this. We know we have a role in your success as consumers of all that is "Mike Finnegan" and we are happy to do our part. It's a win win, know brainier. Vicariously we enjoy life more with you. You do you, really well. Do us a favor and Thank God, once in awhile cuz we all get blessed with watching your success. Thanks Mike. Thank you God for Mike and his ability and wherewithal to express our brand of success.
1976 Camaro. At least 16 years old. Mike born at least by 1960. I never would have guessed. He looks younger than that despite the graying beard. A lot of guys start the gray in their 40’s. Great video and exciting trip. 👍
Beautiful looking boat. She sounded really great on that last shot of you accelerating away from the start line rope. Great bunch of guys assisting you too. That extra money you had from selling “Game Over” was obviously burning a hole in your pocket. Good Luck.👍👍🇨🇦
I was born and raised in SoCal, left when I was 40 in '92 and the only thing I miss about the place is the Mexican food and the Seafood restaurants on the beach.
Yes sir, I lived in San Diego 2000-2004 and I really miss the Mexican and the Seafood also. I stayed at my brothers in Pacific Beach for the first 8 months or so. There are so many really good places to get Mexican food and I'm making myself hungry as I type!
Mike, This is by far "The Best" video episode that I've ever seen, of yours. It has the look of a well produced product for television. That coupled with your natural easy going sense of humor has made this so very much fun to watch. Big props to your friends who also double as your crew. These guys are studs. I've LOVED jet boating for 40 years and this all reminds me of great times with my buddies back in the day. Thanks for taking us along for the ride and good luck with the new boat (It Is Super Bitchin) as you dive head first into 3 classes of California Jet Boat Drag Racing! PS, That little Abigail is a sweetheart. I'm Stoked for episodes 2 and 3.
>It has the look of a well produced product for television. What? No it doesn't. Some of the *editing* has the feel of a television production. The actual look is really, really rough because of the vast differences between the cameras they filmed on. There's only so much you can do to correct the color and exposure, but I'm not sure if anybody even tried. I'm not upset about it because filming to production to release is happening really quickly for this series, but they really need to set up some color and exposure correction presets in the editing software to at least get the cameras in roughly the same ballpark. Like, nobody is saying "go buy a triple trackball color grading control surface," but c'mon, at least pull up the adjustment window and give the washed out camera some tweaks to bring it closer to the nicer footage. Side note: good audio quality is much more important than good video quality on UA-cam. People will accept that one camera looks kinda weird and crappy compared to the other shots, but nobody will accept the "narrator" jumping between a whisper and ripping your speakers apart, or just going silent because somebody forgot the audio for 45 seconds.
@@DonOblivious Okay then. I guess I will just enjoy it as it is. And I DID enjoy the video. I am looking forward to episodes 2 and 3 Finn. Have fun with the new Drag Boat!
Used to run drag boats at Long Beach Marina and lake ming in the early seventies with a Sanger pickle fork called motherforker. Gene Palmer was the owner and driver. I built the boat and the engine. Had lots of fun Crazy Wayne Cronan
What a lucky man! Hard work and Hard play and most importantly an understanding Wife nothing like it! Thanks again for the great content for all of us old racers who live vicariously through your journey back to racing. God bless you! 🙏🏼 Stay safe.. keep the wet side down.👍
What an incredible boat. It's got such a beautiful paint scheme and classy accents with the chrome. I love how purpose built it is for racing too with the seat placement and all the forethought to make it as light as possible. I can't wait to see you having a blast racing this beast. Good luck and I hope it always runs safe for you.
Awesome Mike well done. I had a chuckle when you went to remove that water bypass with the little hand allen key and I saw how tight the cap screw was, the video then cuts to you with a 1/2 inch drive ratchet and extension. Give it hell!
Hahahaha! I did one of those Traffic Schools too! It was called "Pizza for you, Comedians too"! I will never forget it. I took it in a hotel in Leucadia. I had a motorcycle as my daily driver and I drove Class B trucks for work.
I’m guessing you flew into SD to pick up that truck because flying into at least ONT would of saved you at least a couple hours in traffic. Sweet ass boat ! Can’t wait to see it run. 😍
This is so Rad Mike, Or Should I say Mike (Wrong Way) Finnegan. Sorry Dude but I had to Say it. That is one Badass Boat. This Episode was epic, Thanks to Chris for all the hard work putting this episode together and to Wiley for the being behind the Camera and getting all the great Footage. I also did not know that you could get stainless pipe bends already polished before you build the Headers. I hope In the upcoming Episodes You let Us know how much quicker in the Holeshot this New Boat is compared to Game Over. I've lay awake at night thinking about driving this boat ever since I bought it.

Yep, when going fast on water… lots of things can make you stop quick, in like on land there is no rolling.
Its so sketchy going that fast riding onto of the water but soooo freaking fun cus it's so sketchy. Never been boat racing but been on some fast boats before. Jet skis are wild too.
I love how Mike try’s to rationalise his purchase. We’ve all been there :)
Right? He said I sold my boat and I was gonna be out for good, but he was looking at boats online the day after he sold his lol.. Nothing like money burning a hole in your pocket.

That boat is sick! I can clearly see why people love the sport. Horse power, beautiful lake and people! Looks like a good time to me!
Your jetboat drag racing videos may spark a renaissance for the sport...

1up is a good one. I was also thinking of Bonus Time or Power Up.
Now that's good clean American fun. I like the simplicity of your boat. Less wrenching more fun. Thank you for your time.

This is the early Christmas present I didn’t know I needed
So friggin’ cool, thanks for bringing us along!
I'm surprised California still allows power boats in the local waters
Give them time
It doesn’t have the .50 caliber clips with heat seekers (Maxine Watters) or assault clips on it. So it’s good.

Literally the best gearhead channel on UA-cam.
You look so comfortable in that environment! Congratulations on your new boat!!!
Watching your jet adventures makes me want to get into the sport. Cant wait to add the jet boat races to the list of drag races we go to!
