Best part about any racing community is the willingness of fellow competitors to help fix your stuff as everyone wants to actually beat you not because your broke hahaha
Ive a good example of this, I was racing a class (here in the UK) and was getting a handle on a new setup. the fella I beat in the same class last year heard i blew a head gasket and was out of spares (if your in the UK, i raced a rover k-series so you know i had a few spares) and i drove the 600 mile round trip to the event without support, he offered to drive me to the next town over to get a handfull of gaskets, and he did. turned out I cracked a liner and id foolishly not brought any spares. But that whole deal highlights drag racing for me, here was a guy I put on the trailer the year before, driving me out to get bits to fix my new combo which looked more promising. thats why i love motorsports.
I always want to beat somebody when they are at their best, not when they have some broken parts. Then you know you really did better than them, not just got lucky.
@@denisohbrien and the Internet community has via people like Finnigan, Cletus and a lot of others have managed to keep that attitude and make it even stronger. iv seen a huge shift back to that culture in the last 10 years and it's wonderful.
For me, these are the best videos you have ever released. Congrats and thank you Finnegan and the entire production team. Looks like we get to watch bi-coastal Finnegan (at least for a while...)👍👍👍
I have coworkers who said they've met them on Hartwell (would make sense) and I had no idea. I live a stone's throw away from the lake and have a boat at a marina there, and it would be so cool to see them testing out here.
43:58 - Wow, this really showed just how hard the boat leaves. The other boat left at least 1-2 lights ahead of you and you went by him like he was tied to a stump. What an amazing boat!
Holy God, that launch is so violent it makes my butt clench just WATCHING it. BTW, all the camera shots are awesome, makes it feel like we are in the boat with you. What a ride!
I was struck by similarities of bull riding in my youth. In the gate, grabbing a rope and letting the starter know you're ready to come out of the chute. So cool, really upped your game on video.
What an awesome group of people! The racing is one thing, but to be surrounded by so many friendly people willing to help is a whole different thing. Great content! 👏👍
It doesn’t matter if it’s hydroplanes, flat bottoms, stock outboard, offshore,or drag boats us boat racers are all the same and treat everyone like family and always lend other racers a hand and that’s what makes boat racing great!
We know Mike love cars and junk, but here is his real LOVE of speed. He was giggling and laughing every time it ran, even the junk runs. Have fun and be safe!
You are getting there despite the set backs. Lots of help from your friends , so good to see. Nice combination , and will be cool once sorted out. Thanks for a great video.
Just imagine if you hadn't blown up Blasphemi due to a lack of fuel, you might have blown up an all carbon 10.5L Chevy! Good thinking on the fuel check. Great content as always! Thanks for the content FSM!
Thanks Mike, this is the most fun I’ve had on a YT in a long long time. I think because you involved us in every part of the process. From seeing the boat for the first time in person to the anticipation and wonder of the first drive. When you were on the line for the first time, my heart was pounding, then when you stabbed it the hair on my whole body stood straight up, then during the run out a huge deep breath and relief that for the most part everything went okay. Now I have unbridled anticipation for the next runs to see how fast I can go. What a blast!! Thank you so much Mike for sharing everything with us. I swear it feels like I did it. Lol I’m worn the hell out!!!
This is bad ass and why I watch all the videos you put out. You have one heck of a good time and it's really enjoyable watching you. Keep up the good work Mike &crew!
Mike, I think that day of qualifying was really good! A water-borne vessel sitting for two years simply doesn't provide for instant reliability. And one with which you had no prior experience. Of course, I can't wait for tomorrow.
I've not raced a bunch of things but I have never ever asked myself why I was sitting in the seat... couldn't wipe the smile off my face.. it's always a blast.
Just the opening shots are great. The dudes gal is just calmly sitting inches in front of a mountain motor with a giant scoop on it. It's just her little weekend toy, no worries. Good times!
Mike .... this video series of you returning back to Drag Boat racing is awesome !!!! . I found an old photo album I have that has pics of the early 90's of Drag boats i watched at Socal IHBA and NJBA events and even the IHBA World finals at Firebird lake That's awesome the NJBA official is wanting you to get into a Hydro boat , you should take up his offer
I started going to the Columbia Drag Boat Association events when I was 6years old and drag boat racing is by far my favorite motorsport. Seeing this really makes me miss my 67 Sanger V-Drive.
I was part of a hot boat club here in ATL back in the 90's. We went to Augusta to watch the drag boats one weekend. Top fuel hydros are almost scary to watch. It's just surreal.
Mike’s right - just get out and race anything. I won in PWC class 2 years in a row at a local lake. Nothing’s better than racing with friends and family, being around other racers, and the noise!
This series is really engaging , a great glimpse into a cool racing community, one of the best things you've presented, really great content , thank you!
I got to drive a flat bottom hemi powered V-Drive drag boat back in the 80s when I was working at a local Marina in the engine shop. That thing was scary even with the throttle stop wired shut. Fun stuff.
Dude, this is fantastic. You motivate me to live life to the fullest. You only live once! I’ve got a custom motorcycle project I’ve been working on and this series is pushing me to get it done. Thanks man! And thank god I’ve got one of those cool wives.😅
When I saw the title I was like Oh no here we go again, another speedweek disaster, but no it was all awesomeness, a few issues but you look like you're having a blast Mike, looking forward to part 3.
Great episode as usual Mike! It's gonna be hard to keep valvesprings in that motor. If it's got 1.8 rockers on it you might consider going to 1.7s for reliability. It's gonna need those high dollar springs and you probably will have to run the valve lash each morning you race then check again at end of the day and look for changes. I'm sure you will figure it out but it's probably gonna use valvesprings as expendables just like fuel and oil, LoL. Let's hope not and again I'm sure you will figure it out. Best of luck man. Keep em coming!
I watched part one and fell in love with the boat 18 minutes into part 2 and I've never wanted to drive something so much in my life!! Dude that thing is fucking wild!!
Great job guys and gals. That's a lot of tech. You should take the man up on his offer to pilot a Hydro V-DRIVE TWIN SCREW HYDROPLANE. Central California watching.
Lots of help there Mike. All sorts of people who are knowledgeable with that type of boat. I was very surprised to hear you say that jet drag boat racing isn’t that popular and you have to travel hundreds or,in some cases thousands of miles, to find a course to race. Good Luck with your quest to keeping this boat. 👍👍🇨🇦

Amazing boat ! Hope the engine is not toast . Nice to see you get to do something you love ! Now you need a 6 second mini truck ! Thanks for all the great content and shows over the years !
For the 6.0 class could you try to limit your holeshot then run flat out? I would think this would not unsettle the boat during the pass. As an old bracket racer I know how trying to hit that number can drive you nuts sometimes lol. Keep having fun that's what it's all about.

It's the difference between a vlog-style video and feeling like we're there with him. So cool.
I'm appreciating the filming on this one as well
Yeah stunning job
You really don’t need to record every conversation you have! Just edit in the highlights of the day!

I love the documentary styling of these videos. Also I love seeing fin get back into something he obviously loves so much!!
Great story! And, the format and production have me hooked, I love it!
Thanks for the video Finnegan, I love to get to be a fly on the wall in a thing I would never experience in my real life.

And that run was with the MSD cutting the ignition!
I noticed that, too. This thing leaves like a rocket compared to most of the boats ive driven.
@@FinnegansGarage We all noticed you dropped the ball on the launch but dam that does get off its keester and go. Nice work!
