I'm surprised you didn't mention Gaxkang's shield, Fade Wall, which has the emblem of The Dread Wolf Think about it, Fade Wall, Dread Wolf, Solas creating the veil, or the WALL of the FADE They planned the entire story from the beginning and you cannot tell me otherwise That said I hope they don't take the boring route and have the formless one be the intangible greed of men or something like that, let the formless one be a boss, not a metaphor!
First playthrough of DA:I, my character and I were both exhausted with that area, and her party was nearly exhausted of potions. Though she tried for good, that was one battle she had to avoid. As Josephine might disapprove 😉, she went with "Power." She did feel guilt over the good man's death, but that's the way of wars...
Huh didnt realize that man was that important in DAI, I need to go back an do origins an DA2 for theirs, this was super cool an super helpful thank ya again!
when fighting Gaxkang, save before entering, put the difficulty on easy, blaze through the fight and just before you deal the killing blow, switch it to nightmare mode, this will increase the chance of good loot dropping. this being the keening blade and the fade wall shield. this is the best warrior sword in the game (only usable by warriors). if the sdword and/or fade wall doesn't drop, reload and repeat the trick until they do.
The Formless One could be the Nightmare Demon, not the Aspect we fight, but the Demon that forces us to sacrifice an ally in order to escape. Why? His shape could be adaptative to people, situations, convenience. He is not necessarily the biggest spider DA ever created, that could be the form to terrorize the inquisitor, that dislikes spiders. Cassandra tells us that she didn't see spiders, only maggots crawling in filth. Well, what do you think?
The Nightmare demon is still around and very powerfull, so who knows! The fact that it looks different to everyone coud explain the name ''The Formless One'', it would fit. Though I feel like it would take much more than a party of 4 to defeat it 😆But I guess we'll find out in the next game!
@@RushRun Here's to hoping for a DA5 at some point! Though I'll be glad when I finally get my hands on DA4 😅 (Or I should say...DAD. Nope, still feels weird.)
@@LisaLynnsTavern, They still have to clarify if it's really Dreadwolf (a single word) or Dread Wolf. Then we can think about DAD or DADW, that it's even 'weirder' (does this word exists? he he).
@@RushRun While in game it has always been ''Dread Wolf'', looking at the title image, it seems to be one word. Which makes sense I guess, they've always had the one word sub titles (apart from DA2). So I think it actually is DAD xD

I think The Formless One is a magister in Tevinter's Magisterium and has been taking the forms of various magisters over the centuries to maintain power and influence. DA4 might have us investigate this, and if successful, reveal The Formless One and fight it. I don't think any of them die or cease to exist upon being destroyed in the real world though. I think they are each powerful enough to return to the Fade in their complete forms, though getting back out of the Fade will be difficult for them. I think Xebenkek appeared as male to Tahrone simply because males are what Tahrone desired. I think they only appear as male if their target desires males (Dorian makes a comment about a Desire demon he met being male as well). Otherwise, their default appearance is female. Interesting fact. It is possible to have royalty strike the final blow on each Forgotten One. Alistair can slay Gaxkang, Sebastian can slay Xebenkek, and Cassandra can slay Imshael. Another interesting fact. Each protagonist, in addition to being able to slay each Forbidden One seen thus far, can also come to rule over the area each Forbidden One was found occupying. The Hero, if a Cousland, can become a monarch of Ferelden, the capital of which is Denerim. The Champion can become Viscount/ess of Kirkwall. And the Inquisitor can claim Suledin Keep for the Inquisition.
@@LisaLynnsTavern Thanks. I forgot to mention, and this was an early theory of mine, I thought Flemeth was The Formless One back at the end of Origins because Gaxkang will make a reference to the signal fire at Ishal (if you pick the right dialogue choice), which is where Flemeth rescued the Wardens. So I thought the two characters were linked. I was close. But Ishal did help me predict ahead of time that Solas was Fen'Harel, since he makes reference to the Wardens lighting the signal fire as well. I think certain places hold magical significance, and ancient beings from long ago have the ability to see what is happening in those locations. And sure enough, Trespasser gave a codex showing that the Forbidden Ones and the evanuris had a history of being at odds with each other.
In Nightmare in DA:O you can make the Gaxkang fight easier by using Mana Clash on his Arcane Horror form. Mana Clash is broken, it will annihilate everything with mana and possibly the game itself (this ability is very prone to crashes). For added punch, Mana Clash him with a Spirit-Juiced Wynne. Xebenkek can be easily isolated from her alies, making this fight pretty easy. In DA:I, once you are high enough level and have fully crafted high level gear you pretty much trivialize the entire base game including Imshael, the DLCs are harder, especially Jaws of Hakkon.
Oh yeah Mana Clash is OP. Also yes, Inquisition's DLC are much harder, you don't want to know how long it took me to get through the waves of Darkspawn in the Descent the first time I played it, lol
As per usual.)
Dankje! 😄 En jaa hahah die ben ik wel van plan om te maken at some point, and I'll make sure to include the Lord of Pies!
This channel just popped up in my feed and it’s been great! So much lore spread throughout DA games and it’s books. Have you considered a patreon? If I enjoy a channel, I have always been willing to contribute to their work. Thank you and I look forward to your future work.
Thank you so much! I hadn't really thought about it much yet, I kind of just started making these for fun and wanted to see how it would go 😅 Maybe in the future!
First time I got to imshael I was level 15, only managed to kill the giants by using Solas meteor shower and mark of the rift on the other one, ended up running out of potions and only thing that saved me is that pride demons are super slow and if I went around the big pillar in the middle of the arena if have just enough time to get one follower up, Cassandra probably went down like 20+ times though XD
Can formless one be the nightmare? I beat him nightmare as a warrior and in hard as a rogue, is not hard, specially if you use Wynne. We don’t talk about the choice spirit.
Yeah, when a spirit dies its energy is returned to the Fade and could later be reformed (although its personality may be different). Demons are spirits whose purpose has been perverted, so I'd say something similar would happen if they die. The Forbidden ones though, I kinda doubt they are truly dead. xD
I'm so happy I found this channel, it's expanding on Dragon Age in a way I didn't even know I needed.

It is more than likely that the three we’ve killed up to this point are not dead but simply banished back to the Fade.
Yep!
I love that every DA lore video uses DAI music bc Trevor Morris ate that soundtrack up
I never found the Forbidden one, Gaxkang, in dragon age origins. Well I know what im doing on my next playthrough haha
