Ok I should've probably mentioned this in the video itself, but I didn't because I always forget: BEWARE, THIS VIDEO CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR DRAGON AGE AND MASS EFFECT! All right there ya go
Tower of Hanoi is not a reference to Mass Effect. It's actually an ancient puzzle, loved by programmers for demonstration of recursive algorithm. And even for BioWare, ME was not the first game where they introduced it. KOTOR actually contained hanoi tower's - there they were representing power nods.
@@artsq1550 I know, the reference alludes to the fact that BioWare used them in their games so much. They used it in KOTOR, Jade Empire, Mass Effect and Dragon Age Inquisition 😄I feel like fans were pretty torn on them; some loved them, others hated them and were glad when there was not Tower of Hanoi puzzle in the game. This is probably why it says ''Unloved, unmourned''
I liked the video. There's only one thing that stopped me from *loving* it. So, there's a suggestion I'd like to make for your future videos. It's about the tone. In this video, the narration sounds very unenthusiastic-as if you're not really enjoying this. It feels kind of flat. I believe you should work on making the tone sound more lively, reactionary and organic-as if you're talking to a friend and trying to get them excited about something. Just a friendly suggestion.
@@MeowtronStar Thank you for the feedback! I'll try to work on that. I'm still very new to recording my own voice like this, so it's something I'll have to play around with and get more comfortable with. :)
Technically Dragon Age came out after Mass Effect 1, so I think the basis of religion for Dragon Age may have been built around that phrase, and inspired from Mass Effect :)
@@ty738 I don't want to be that guy, but Origins started development before ME1 (Origins in 2002, ME1 in roughly 2004 since development took about three years). Whether "thank the Maker" was a reference or inspiration, eh.

It honestly breaks my heart that there is no resolution to overhearing the Asari talk about killing Gunny in the hospital. It would've been great to have Shep tell Joker what happened to his sister, so that we could see more content between them. Not to mention, interesting to see what Joker's reaction would be if you allow the Asari to kill herself.
Definitely, hearing the story is tragic and it's Shepard who hears it. They could easily put 2+2 together after the conversation with Joker that his sister and Dad were from Tiptree. Would have loved to see that emotional conversation or even have the choice to tell him what happened.
@@BeautyIsJustAMask you can smuggle the gun to her through the spectre terminal iirc, she then kills herself, which demoralises the hospital staff and makes you lose war points
To be fair I didn’t know any of this because it’s been so long since I’ve played Dragon Age, but I thought it was sweet that the VA for Tallis actually played ME, had a romance, and then got to have a dagger canonically named after that character on a character they voice. I don’t know who came up with the idea but that’s pretty wholesome.
You forgot about one more reference. When you are at the camp in Dragon Age: Origins, you can see a Klendagon planet in the sky. The same planet you can see in Mass Effect 1, when you are exploring one of the planet moons. So it looks like Thedas is in one of the Klendagon's moons, perhaps even on the moon that Shepard is visiting. :P
With the blue rose of ilium Easter egg, in ME3 on Grunt’s side mission you can find a note from one of the krogan commandos who dies in the cave (in the dark) which you take back to his Asari mate on the citadel. These are confirmed to be Charr and the blue rose of ilium
It kills me that Shepard hears that Huntress tell her story but never knows that its Joker's sister that died so she/he can't have a friend tell him of his sister's death and instead will find out way after the war by a stranger.
Great video... some of these I knew, and some I'd never heard of. Off the top of my head, I can think of at least one more: When Varric gives the novel to Cassandra, his parting line in the cutscene is: "Totally worth it..."

One more, a conversation between Dorian and a messenger reveals Leliana has to find out information on members of the Inquisition, specifically their undergarments. Maker knows why, and we can discount this being a reference to her fondly remembering a stunt she pulled as a bard, that's already been referenced several times. Another cowl wearing woman goes on a panty raid, one that were she in Thedas might well not only join Sister Nightingale but willing to pull a similar stunt.
There is a reference in Mass Effect Andromeda where you get an email regarding the facial reconstruction suite. It jokes that it runs on antiquated Xenon, with Xenon of course being the antiquarian of the dark emporium where Dragon Age's mirror of transformation is located.

Thank you!
Solid channel not alot of content on biowares golden age anymore
Next video, Dragon Age references in Mass Effect. That would be cool.
Oh that's definitely on my list! It won't be the next one, but it's coming :)
huh, who knew that my life story transcends time.
Interesting, I didn’t know about most of these, despite the many times I’ve replayed the games.
Maybe you could do a switcheroo some time in the future. All of the Dragon Age references in Mass Effect.
That's the plan! :)
Thank the Maker!
What if the song was a reference To the 3 endings in me3 . For to of those endings we are not sure if shepard truly dies , so '' the shepard is lost '' and shepard was in space when they activated the '' weapon '' , forgot the name of the damn thing , referencing '' keep To the stars ''
keep up the good work Lisa. your videos are great
Thank youu!
**SPOILERS**
9:14 you also learn that the girl the asari huntress killed, is Joker's sister :(
Yeahh I know, so sad ):
The only one I remember is the Krogan head at the palace
You bet I'm crying.
kinda the other way round but there's also an ogre statue in Kasumi's loyalty mission in ME2
Yeah I know, I loved finding that one :D
Well done
Thank you!
Ayo cool channel I can totally relate to lol
Back in the day, I dated a gamer girl, which was much more rare than it is today. It was awesome playing FF and whatnot with her, good memories. So I have a soft spot in my heart for all gamer girls. On top of that, I like what you’re doing so far. So I guess what I’m saying is, keep doing what you’re doing, and I’ll keep giving the views and thumbs up. Have a good one.
Thank you!
Very nice video!
Thank you!
@@LisaLynnsTavern Your voice is amazing! Really chill
Imagine DA 4 actually combines both games
There is also dragon age reference in mass effect 2 dlc
I barely comment on videos. But i really enjoyed this one.
Glad to hear it!
Love your videos😍
Thank you, glad to hear that!!
Isn’t Tallis also named after Tali’Zorah?
Dorian wanting elevator music is not a reference because there are many elevators with music in them
Maybe not the music specifically, but the original Mass Effect's elevators were notorious for being slow xD
Damn, got to replay the game again!
