I think you should also cover the importance of soil analysis and what type of soil plums prefer. My Asian plum was barely growing for several years. Soil analysis indicated that the soil pH was too low (5.8) and also low in calcium and boron. After correcting for this with ground limestone and borax solution my plum went from growing about 3 inches per year to 3 feet per year.
Thank you 🕊️
Thank you, I always learn something from your videos and you have such wonderful smile. God bless you and yours.
Great video-Now the Asian vs. European differences really make sense.
Thanks, Laura.
Ciruelas! Buenísima! Tengo “Hollywood,” “Superior,” “Green Gauge” y un montón de “Italianas.” Me encanta vino de ciruela! Gracias por el video bueno! Viva Raintree nursery!
Gracias!
I liked your video. I've had two pllum trees for years ... but no plumbs. This year I'll fertilize it.
I need to learn more about plums.
VVA-1 also known as Russian root stock is a relatively new dwarfing root stock and Pixy has been around for a while in the UK at least. Both these root stocks can be grown in containers.
Hi pretty lady planted my trees today mike in pa
Very nice
If I WERE planning to use a pot, how big would I need? 400 gallons? I have groundhogs which requires me to think outside the box and I now have sever very large pots in which to plant my trees. SO, would you say that a 400 gallon pot would be enough to safely grow a plum tree? If not, what size would you go for? Thanks.
This great!
Can I put my plum tree in a large tall pot for just the first year or 2? Thanks!
Tanks for the video. I have 4 plum trees. Bruce, Methley, "Golden?", and Scarlet Beauty. Bruce and Methley have been in the ground since 2017, Golden and Scarlet Beauty since 2019. I have yet to eat a plum. They were all 3 year old trees when I purchased them. Methley and Scarlet Beauty have yet to flower. Bruce and Golden flower every year but 3-4 weeks apart. I cut the tops off Methley and SB when planting. Looks like that was a mistake. What do you think? It is advised by a lot of folks when planting to encourage root growth the first year. My Golden must be a euro plum. Looks like I will have to find a buddy for it. I am on the border of 9A9B
Darn, I just planted a plum tree and fertilized it. What's going to happen?
Sweet
Hello what plum is the fruit is 'purplish skin and flesh' and very soft and aromatic ripened and fell to the grown?
I have a peach tree that won't grow limbs on it but one on the side after the tip was cut off and so I hear that I should cut it down to knee high and that should force it to grow new limbs on it. It is about 1 inch in diameter. And about 4 feet high. But I don't know what else to do to get more branches to grow on it can you give me your thoughts
Had an apricot I purchased online with a poor branching structure. I cut it to knee high and it's developing a great structure now.
Do American plums like the Chickasaw Plum pollinate asian or european plums?
The short answer is probably yes and more likely with Asian plums. American plums (Prunus americana) tend to be early bloomers and are cross compatible with Asian plums, but flower too early for European plums. Chicksaw plum (Prunus angustifolia) is likely the same story.
Sister. Santa plum . Soil ph start to and.
Can a person use ANY European Plum tree as a pollinator for another European Plum tree? For instance I have 2 Sweet August Sensation plums that have never produced. Their tag recommends a Candy Rosa Plum as the pollinator but I cannot find a Candy Rosa Plum anywhere, including the internet. I'm hoping to be able to purchase another variety to use as a pollinator.
Both of the the plums you mention here are Asian Plum hybrids. You will need a Santa Rosa plum as a universal pollinator, or the recommended interspecific pairing.
Thank you!

What is the name of the yellow/red plum shown in the beginning and elsewhere in the video. Thanks.
Early Golden Asian Plum
@@RaintreeNursery Thank you for your reply. Do you sell them? Are they good to eat?
@@RaintreeNursery Thank you. Please ignore my other questions. I have since seen that you had them but sold them and none are left for me.
🤗🙌🏾👍🏽
So can I capture the pollen from an Asian plum and later spread it on a European plum and then take the seed that that produces and have myself a cross
Do you want me to be a farmer and take care of the farm and maintain it? I am ready and under your guidance🌹👍
you are a queen of fruit do you ever step on the fruit
I guess every european plum I've had has been bad or something... they're all crunchy and awful.
These aren’t plum trees
This tree is verified to be Prunus salicina x 'Early Golden', the Early Golden Asian Plum
How are they not? It looks like a plum tree to me
