Great overview Patrick. Those Fuji colors look great SOOC! I am thinking of getting the X-S10 with the 18-55mm f2.8-4 lens. I believe that the lenses with LM (linear motor) are smoother and faster for the AF system. I would probably add the XF 100-400mm and 1.4 TC as I like to photograph and film wildlife. Do you think it would be okay for that?

Just came across your channel. Mine arrives here in Japan tomorrow. I owned a bunch of Fuji gear in the past. I had a XT2 with several lenses. I am slowly moving back to Fuji as I got a X100V earlier this year but wanted something with IBIS . I did order the old 35mm f1.4 so it will be curious to see if the autofocus is much faster as people are saying with the newer bodies. Cheers from Japan but Canadian....
Dear Mr. Tomassso, thank you for sharing your valuable time and expertise with us, viewers of your channel. I've noticed that still images from your camera are slightly but beautifully underexposed. Maybe it just me... but I feel that behind that slightly darker ambiance there is something more subtle than just turning down exposure compensation dial. If I may... Is there some recipe (fujifilm default film simulation or your own) involved? Thank you.
Better late than never:) I bit the bullet and finally bought this camera. And I love it. X-T30 is also nice and small and beautiful but man this camera is much more comfortable for me. I thought I would miss all these retro controls but actually don’t. May be it’s not so beautiful but I appreciate comfort and effectiveness more. And I am really considering to start shooting jpeg. It will be easier with this camera, I think. Thank you for this video, it is wonderful.
@@impatrickt no its not!! Jesssus people? Ergonomics sucks. The fact that the grip is deeper does not mean that the overall ergonomics is great.. @@impatrickt Any arguments? In appearance, the X-S10 most closely resembles the amateur X-T200 model. The retro design is still noticeable, but we will not find the dials characteristic of e.g. the X-Pro series of shutter speeds, ISO sensitivity or exposure compensation. The case is similar with the handle - this element was usually modest in the Fufujilm mirrorless cameras (the exception was the X-H1). The handle of the X-S10 is much larger, which is easily noticeable, and the camera gives the impression of being quite large. In fact, however, the body is quite compact, which you will feel immediately after taking the camera in your hand. The handle is deep, but the modest height does not allow you to rest the little finger of your right hand on it. Its not AMAZING!! in the X-S10, it was not decided to seal the structure.
@@spikeweb5193 I’ve used every camera Fuji has made in the last 5 years. The XS10 is the best feeling camera they’ve made. Those retro dials are the worst thing about Fuji and I’m so glad they’re slowing removing them on all models. Xe4, gfx100s etc are much improved.

It is good to hear that your 23 mm F/2 lens has good auto focus. How new of lens is it? I have been watching Denae & Andrew ( think that is right) channel and many of his reviews of that lens has mentioned the lack of sharpness when close-up. A retailer has said that some of Fuji Film's lens have improved over time. This was a good video. I have not done video yet, but purchase the X-S10 for many reasons you have mentioned.

hey Sam! if you do a lot of video, I think the a6400 is a great camera for the price :) if you're into photos though nothing beats a fuji in my opinion.
It will be better if Fujifilm will let us fully customize the two blank dials! I just want to set one to ISO and free up the ISO button for something else. I really don't need a dial for film sims!
Wait you walked around with a camera in your mouth to show us how shorter camera shoots street photography?? You sir are insane, have my upvote and subscription
Just the review I was looking for. Great info and detail and love the POV walk around. Appreciate your time in putting this together. Have subscribed and love forward to more stuff coming.
So, I was an idiot, and bought this camera on a whim without much research (it hasn't arrived yet). But videos like these are making me think that I made a good choice. Thanks for the video!
Great video! I'm a long distance hiker who's always shot in iPhone. Thinking of upping my camera and getting my first Fujifilm. This one seems like the one to get. Which lens would you recommend? 18-55 or stick with 23mm f2 (the latter is kinda what I'm leaning towards)? I'd use it for 50% shooting photos 50% video + vlog (whilst walking). Thanks in advance!
@@impatrickt thanks for the info, it's what I was afraid for. Hikers tend to like to bring light gear with them, so one lens, with a sweet f-stop) would have been great. In that case, is there a lens inside, or outside, the Fuji line up you could recommend?
Nice video. I did buy one myself and so far, I love it. I got it for the sensor and ibis, I don't usually shoot video but it's there if I want to. I purchased the 18-55 kit lens which I think is a great lens but bulky. I have to pick a prime for it. I was debating between the XT-3 and the 100V but I got a good deal on the X-S10 so I went for it.
Awesome videos and great photos with the Fuji S-10!! I love my Fuji XT-2 & XT-3, I've played with the Fuji S-10 an that thing is nice and does great video/ photos......
i want to use it for video mainly but also photography. I love the look and film filters from fujifilm. I need to be able to take it everywhere. I need it to take video at 4k. and I want to take it anywhere so weather sealant is a nice extra. any recons? I like the 10 bit color in cam on the xt3. I like the ibis from the xs10 and I like the look and the ergonomics of the xe4
Thanks for this video..liked and subscribed. 65 year old, buying 1st camera. Would you suggest the 16-80 or 18-55..or just buy the body & get the 23f2? Thanks!
Hello Patrick, I am thinking to buy Fujifilm X-T3 for photography mostly. I want something smaller than my DSLR. I have some concerns, how much future proof is a 2018 camera for 2022? And do you think that is necessary to have IBIS my next camera? I am putting that on the table that because I am thinking to buy some 7artisan lenses that doesnt have image stabilatization. And after all this thoughts the X-S10 attract my attention because is a 2020 camera and has IBIS. What do you reccoment me? X-T3 or X-S10? Mostly for photos
Hi. Its a nice video. Would you please suggest the lens size for street photography?. I purchased the new Fujifilm xs10 and I got the 16-80mm lens along with it. Can I use it for street photography?
Am I the only one that is disappointed that this has an x-trans sensor? I was really hoping Fuji had made a great higher end camera with a normal sensor for once. Honestly, I wish they would make a version of their X-T series cameras Vito normal sensors, in addition to the x-trans version. I’d choose the normal sensor if I could.
Hi Patrick ! First of all, thank you for this quick but complete review. I am currently looking to buy my first camera for street photography (currently using my grandfather Nikon D90) I was wondering if you still use it or if you would advise to go to something different for 2023? Thank you in advance and wish you all the best !
3 questions (please help me out as I'm considering buying one of these): 1 - Are the pre-amps ok? Same as the XT4? The Pre-amps on the XT200 are really bad and they sound terrible, so it's a concern. 2 - What are you editing on? Did you choose special settings to import to your edit system? I've seen some crazy issues with the 'blacks' on some videos - very pronounced and ugly pixelation (apparently there is a codec issue that needs special treatment in post in the edit.) 3 - How big is this next to the XT200? Anyway, thanks in advance. Cheers, Campbell from NZ.
Hello Patrick, Hope all is good with you. Is there any way to get exposures longer than 15 minutes in camera on my Fujifilm X-S10? Thanks! Cheers, Steve
You spelled center wrong my friend :-). You have summed up my feelings on this camera so well. I would add that I have had great results with this and a Fringer Pro (version 1) adapter with Canon EF mount lenses. Great for me since I have a ton of EF lenses including a 100-400 Sigma which is so much less expensive than the Fuji offering. Another great video. Love the street session vlog. Cheers.
@@impatrickt I know just having a bit of fun. I grew up in NH and had lots of Canadian friends making fun of they spelling is just engrained in me now I guess. I know it's the US that gets most spellings wrong in the eyes of the world :-)
Thinking of buying this camera… I want the T-X4 because of its video quality but I don’t think it’s practical Because I really want a camera just to travel with and take pictures of city buildings etc. I think this would be a nice first camera. I have gitters so the IBIS is very important to me. Also the flip screen is what I prefer. Thanks for the video
Great video, are you bothered by the flippy screen for street photography? I also have an x-t3 and while I am very tempted by the x-s10 with its lighter weight and ibis, I am afraid I will regret the x-t3 screen, do you get used to the flippy screen?
What lenses are you liking for video on the xs10 I just have the kit lens for now but want to upgrade to either the 35 f1.4 or f2 for b-roll/food videos
I would avoid the f1.4 lenses they aren't weather sealed and they focus horribly slow. I think the kit lens is pretty much all you need. amazing AF, great OIS, and the focal range is perfect.
I'm looking for a good moto-vlogging camera and was wondering if you can turn this on and use it with the LCD still turned in on itself, protected still. Do you know? Thanks for the great video.
A lot people complained about Fuji’s small grip but anyone who shot with film cameras knows most have a plain flat body and people were fine with them.
I just bought one, noticed it doesn't come with a hot shoe cover. I own an a7iii already so I'm not sure if this is fuji standard or not. Big deal? Could just grab one off amazon but that's annoying.
Thanks for the awesome video man. Have you paired the xs10 with the 16-55? Do you know if that setup works well and if it could work on a gimbal as well?

IBIS is cool but no internal 10 bit video is a deal breaker for me. XT3 has 10 bit 420 4k 60p.
F log is so ass that I’d rather shoot baked in 8 bit over 10 bit f log.
Anybody can explain what this orange ring they hook it to the camears from the side? Is it kind of locator or something?
the strap connection?
@@impatrickt oh right, the quick connection system, thanks for clarifying that
It will be better if Fujifilm will let us fully customize the two blank dials! I just want to set one to ISO and free up the ISO button for something else. I really don't need a dial for film sims!
I bet we will see it in a firmware update.
@@impatrickt fingers crossed!
which is better for a beginner : Fuji xs10 vs canon r50
xs10 offers more tbh
Photos out of this camera just remind me of my family's old photos just full of film feel and nostalgia.
Nice video! Just got mine and love it. Can you do a video on how you do a complete set-up of the camera for still & video? Thanks!
I had to give it back to Fuji! I will probably pick one up in the new year. I usually leave if in a priority for photos.
@@impatrickt Oh to bad, maybe you'll find one under your Christmas tree, ha!
@@netalexpg1 hope so!!
What do you think how it compares with Fuji XT30?
i don't know anything about the xt30
Love your explanation!!
I'm torn between Fuji X-S10 or Lumix g95.
i heard fuji app is a mess but then g95 looks really big for my street photography.
How’s the battery life for 1080 video tho, and is there any issues with putting a mic on the camera?
Wait you walked around with a camera in your mouth to show us how shorter camera shoots street photography?? You sir are insane, have my upvote and subscription
Just the review I was looking for. Great info and detail and love the POV walk around. Appreciate your time in putting this together. Have subscribed and love forward to more stuff coming.
thanks, Marc!
So, I was an idiot, and bought this camera on a whim without much research (it hasn't arrived yet). But videos like these are making me think that I made a good choice. Thanks for the video!
Good review! I want this camera... I'm just unsure about what lenses are out there for it. I started on cameras a year ago and shoot on my sony.
What AF setting did you use, thanks
i have no recollection
frick. second.
I'm having this dilemma rn. Xt3 owner looking to switch
You can do one hand thing woooop
You can do one hand thing wooo
Don't do one hand thing thanks ....
Patrick stop making me want to spend money please I can't take this
IM SORRY
im not
Great video! Thanks in advance!
i like the kit lens a lot!
@@impatrickt what's the 23mm like in selfie vlog mode? Will that work? Would love to see an example. There's almost no videos of them out there.
@@effeietsleuks it's not wide enough because 23mm is more like 35mm on aps-c
@@impatrickt thanks for the info, it's what I was afraid for. Hikers tend to like to bring light gear with them, so one lens, with a sweet f-stop) would have been great. In that case, is there a lens inside, or outside, the Fuji line up you could recommend?
@@effeietsleuks the kit lens. It’s perfect. it’s the only lens you need. small, good focal range and fast aperture.
Awesome video!! Thanks for this fantastic breakdown.
Just bought the xs10… and its now my favourite too.
Awesome videos and great photos with the Fuji S-10!!
I love my Fuji XT-2 & XT-3, I've played with the Fuji S-10 an that thing is nice and does great video/ photos......
Are there Batter Grips available for XS-10
Duudee you look and sound just like Zach Muller!
Sounds like a great camera for all around family photography.
Thank you for the great video. :)
i am doubting between a second hand xe4 or 3, xt3 or xs10
i want to use it for video mainly but also photography. I love the look and film filters from fujifilm. I need to be able to take it everywhere. I need it to take video at 4k. and I want to take it anywhere so weather sealant is a nice extra. any recons? I like the 10 bit color in cam on the xt3. I like the ibis from the xs10 and I like the look and the ergonomics of the xe4
is the ois from lenses enough you think?
Thanks. Now I listen to Cannons. 👌🏼
Happy new yr my pasiano, can u tell me any overheating problems, and how about the viltrox 23mm 1.4,would that be good with the x s10, besafe
definitely! no overheating. fuji's just don't overheat especially in a model like this.
Thanks for this video..liked and subscribed. 65 year old, buying 1st camera. Would you suggest the 16-80 or 18-55..or just buy the body & get the 23f2? Thanks!
16-55 or 18-55
Hello Patrick, I am thinking to buy Fujifilm X-T3 for photography mostly.
I’d go Sony or wait for fujis next batch. I think they’re in weird limbo stuck in the past right now.
Hi. Its a nice video. Would you please suggest the lens size for street photography?. I purchased the new Fujifilm xs10 and I got the 16-80mm lens along with it. Can I use it for street photography?
you can use whatever you want
Am I the only one that is disappointed that this has an x-trans sensor? I was really hoping Fuji had made a great higher end camera with a normal sensor for once. Honestly, I wish they would make a version of their X-T series cameras Vito normal sensors, in addition to the x-trans version. I’d choose the normal sensor if I could.
yes you are. x-trans is amazing.
Hi Patrick ! First of all, thank you for this quick but complete review.
I am currently looking to buy my first camera for street photography (currently using my grandfather Nikon D90)
I was wondering if you still use it or if you would advise to go to something different for 2023?
Thank you in advance and wish you all the best !
I’ve switched to Sony. Cheers!
Cheers, Campbell from NZ.
never tested the pre amps I always record externally
Hello Patrick, Hope all is good with you.
Is there any way to get exposures longer than 15 minutes in camera on my Fujifilm X-S10? Thanks! Cheers, Steve
im not sure! should be a bulb mode though.
Cheers.
That's how we spell centre in Canada. LOL.
Practically speaking the size isn’t much different.
Great video, are you bothered by the flippy screen for street photography? I also have an x-t3 and while I am very tempted by the x-s10 with its lighter weight and ibis, I am afraid I will regret the x-t3 screen, do you get used to the flippy screen?
I just use my phone now for street photography and gave up on these cameras for running around. too big. too bulky. never wanted to carry it.
Thanks for the great video.
every camera works with the lcd on or off.
But weather sealing
no :(
A lot people complained about Fuji’s small grip but anyone who shot with film cameras knows most have a plain flat body and people were fine with them.
No lol there’s a reason hardly any cameras are like that anymore. The film ones feel like shit too.
I just bought one, noticed it doesn't come with a hot shoe cover. I own an a7iii already so I'm not sure if this is fuji standard or not. Big deal? Could just grab one off amazon but that's annoying.
Those are the first thing to go right in the garbage whenever I get a new camera.
great information. Any tips on extending battery life? as this is the only issue I currently face. the battery drained in 2 hours.
buy more batteries. that’s Fuji in general. I have like 15 of those batteries for the xt3
Thanks for the awesome video man. Have you paired the xs10 with the 16-55? Do you know if that setup works well and if it could work on a gimbal as well?
Not a fan of the 16-55 but it works great with the 18-55. Camera might be a bit light for some gimbals but should work with a ronin SC or similar.
