- Is the Fujifilm X-S10 right for you? Is it the best travel camera? X-T30 or X-s10?
Thanks to Fujifilm North America for giving me a top secret look at the camera weeks before the release.

It's very nice to have youtuber entirely focusing on Fujifilm stuff!
Say that again right!😂
I thought I was in a world all on my own. Fujifilm stand up!
There is a guy called wai lang or smth like that. Hc fuji guy also
Great quick first thoughts video on an interesting little camera. Your presentation style is so friendly and easy going that it convinces me that it’s not a “style” but more a statement of your character. Thanks Omar.
Omar, you know, the best thing about your videos is, they are making me smile! Thank you so much!!!
The colors of this video is great!
X-T100 SCREEN NEEDS TO BE THE STANDARD! 🥺 Best of both worlds for photo and video.
My first fuji lol
Ive never been so excited for a camera. Probably because i can afford it. Haha
Wait 2-3 months for discounts :).
Good for you! I hope you buy & love it.
@@mainmain5303 The nikon lens prices are prohibitive for me.
buy used cheap old mirrorless camera +MF lens. have fun to shoot not about gear
@@mainmain5303 Whoa. Nuts.
3:46 Omar the Fujifilm Whisperer xD I've never seen someone get Fuji AF's attention like that before
That was amazing LOL
Sebastian Castilho Hahahahaha
😂
Omar, your skill in making these videos entertaining and relatable and yet still informative is amazing. More on this camera when you get it back again, please.
Great stuff Omar you are knocking it out of the proverbial park lately. 100k not far away!!
Always love your videos! Love hearing your reviews on Fuji cameras!
Okay love the lighting in the video!
Love this X-S10 content. Hope you do more when it is released!
I feel so happy seeing your videos. Its so simple and honest 👏👏
When he snaps and it immediately snaps back to focus on his face!😂
I love your videos. It’s so nice to listen to your voice and your explanations. I think this one is the camera for me!
Best regards from Germany! :)
Your personality is really entertaining (besides all the value you bring). Thank you.
Just received my X-S10 today. Thank you so much for all the information! Definitely feeling overwhelmed but eager to try this out!
I've been thinking about starting a tech channel and I just watched your video of the xt3 vs xs10. I have to say I love your humor and personality. You definitely record in a way I would lol, and it's so fun and refreshing to see.
I appreciate your insights and knowledge. Thank you for sharing with us. ☺️✨
Great review Omar! I'm an "old" wildlife enthusiast and upgrading from a P&S. I researched for months and had decided on the XT4 UNTIL I saw a pre-production review on the XS10. This camera was made for me!! Haha! Many of the XT4 features (crying a little over the missing weatherproofing!) otherwise love everything about it! Especially the 1k (less than XT4) price here in Canada. Thanks for the review!
The learing curve on the menu system is a real thing. First "real camera" I bought was the X-T100. Having pretty much zero knowledge of photography it was quite the jump. After hours of youtube videos I became somewhat profiecient with the setting and menu. Recently stepped up to the X-T3 and that learning curve isn't nearly as steep now thankfully.
great energy. i don't sub often, but when i do, it s for people like you.
So good! I'm looking forward to more xs10 videos, PLEASE!
It's videos like this one, Omar, that remind me why I love your channel so much. I don't shoot Fuji or Nikon...or Sony, but I love the video for your personality in them. haha
love the intro lol! Great stuff, thank you Omar!
you're the absolute best!!!!! I don't understand how Hollywood didn't sign you up already!!!!
i love your energy !!
6.06 the funniest noise I've heard Omar make, proper belly laughed at that, seriously though, best camera channel on UA-cam, keep up the superb work
6:30 Thought I was the only who's family is always leaving them behind 😂
But I bet they want you right quick to snap a shot lol
Loving the set-up on this vids. Hoping that it stays the same on your future vids :D X-S10 is a heck of a lovely camera.
I preordered an X-S10! (Finally upgrading from an X-A7) All the reviews I've seen sayit's a really good camera for the price + all the nice features. Can't wait to get my hands on it!
Thinking about buying one. How do you like it so far?
@@ryanbaker2134 hey! I’d say if you focus more on video then the XS10 is great! BUT if you only shoot photos, my opinion is an XT3 (or 4) might suit you better. The new X-E4 might also be worth taking a look at
Omar Flm Whispherer! Hilarious my friend, that was my fave part of this video. Thank you for your thoughts on the S1.
Thanks for this review. The camera looks pretty sweet I might have to get one. Been really enjoying the Fuj lately.
Omar…I’ve just bought one…slight delay I know but it’s in its way! Thanks for the excellent review which has helped my decision making. I’ve owned xt2 twice times over and love the retro style. However I need a bigger grip and to be pocketable! Xs-10 is still old skool looking enough for me!
Lighting looks great in this video 👍🏻
I have mine on pre-order can't wait to get it. I see this in my bag alongside the X-T4 with the 10-24 lens livinging on it for urban photography. Thanks for the great video.
Genuine question from one X-T4 owner to another. Why would you want to bring this in addition to the X-T4? Is it just so you don't have to swap lenses?
@@Kingjay814 that is the main reason yes. I would have the 16mm f/1.4 on the xt4 at all times and keep the 10-24 on the xs10
Hey there, really like your channel. I have been watching for quite a while, in hopes of someday getting a Fujifilm camera... the X-T2, 3, 4... and then the X-T30 came along and I almost got one.
I currently have a Pentax DSLR. Third parties seem to not be doing as many lenses for Pentax these days, and their innovation seems to come at a snail pace. I got the Pentax years ago, as I had 35mm film lenses that would work with it, it was weather sealed, IBIS, etc...and features for a low price was a pretty good bargain.
I really like the dial setup on the X-T3, X-T4 ... but I think I could learn to work with this X-S10 just fine, I'd be learning a new camera system either way. I like that any Fujifilm will be a good bit smaller than my Pentax. I do like the articulating screen, and the more substantial grip.
I will be doing "general" photography, of all sorts of things, as well as video(hopefully to start a UA-cam channel). For someone who really wanted an X-T4 or cheaper X-T30, do you think THIS camera is a great place to start into the Fujifilm camera world? The only real downsides I see is maybe the shorter battery life, and the electronic viewfinder. I think I can work with that given the price, more substantial grip, and given that ANY Fujifilm camera will seem lightyears ahead of my Pentax in basically every way imaginable. Please let me know what you think, and thanks so much for your great videos!
Great review I bought this for a UA-cam but I am excited about traveling with it. I also wonder if the next H-2 will be similar to this camera. Excited for that camera
Theres a big learning curve... Thats an understatement of the year...
I came from a canon 60d. It took me 1-2 days to understand that thing and set it up. It took me almost a week to figure out how shoot this thing in manual according to how I wanted it to behave... This camera features are insane though, if you want to the camera can help you focus on your dog's butt by highlighting it red. But to get it on, you need to go through tens of menu options and a bunch of them in focusing menu. Yes, this camera is so detailed that it has its own focus menu.
I shot with Canon over a decade now, and i think this little guy gonna be my first dive into fujifilm waters ,i'am in love already !!!
Feeling very similar
Just looking to Omar makes me happy 🥰.
With the IBIS and the deep grip I am intrigued to try the X-S10 with the 16-55 f/2.8 zoom. I have the perfect bag for that 1 camera - 1 lens combo.
Another trade off is No Weather Sealing. Awesome video as usual!👏🏻
Currently a Fujifilm X-T10 owner and had a quick hands-on on the new X-S10 at the Fujifilm store in my country.
I've found another huge negative - No physical switch in front to change between Auto Focus and Manual Focus modes. It's buried deep in the menus to switch the focus modes.
Huge bummer if you want Manual Focus on the fly... I've owned both Fuji lenses and old adapted manual vintage lenses.
Quick menu baby. takes 1 second extra vs front focus switch.
Definitely would have bought this over the XT3 as a new Fuji user. Just bought the XT3 earlier in the year. The flip out and the IBIS for the same price would be nice to have!
4:36 Menu system is completely overwhelming
Sony: Let's show you what complicated is 🤣
Sony: Solve this quadratic equation to access ISO.
@@mangoplastic LOLm is it really that bad?
@@MALIKHAKIM82 No. its not. I have dedicated dials to ISO, shutter speed, and aperture. Even on the a6xxx line of cameras, you still have dials for shutter and aperture. You have to press one button, which is a direction on rear wheel to change ISO. Hardly an issue. Every menu system is confusing when first learning it. Fujis menu is a headache after coming from Sony.
@@mangoplastic nah, right click hehe
@@MALIKHAKIM82 no, once you setup short cuts it's no biggy
Nice vid as ever omar.. The only thing I'd query slightly, is who the camera is pitched at. In the UK's price point its more expensive than a XT30, which makes me think it's not aimed at beginners or casual shooters... Certainly not at £1200 here. Fuji has the X-A range for that. I think its too compete with Sony shooters as much as anything, or those looking at Sony from a dslr.. Keep the great vids coming!
Omar, your setup looks really good in this video.
Great video! My X-T cameras story so far:
Loved my X-T1 until I broke it. Then I got an X-T20. The image quality is just as phenomenal, but I wear glasses and the viewfinder feels like it's half the size of the X-T1. I can only see about 60% of what I'm shooting. And the feel is also noticeably cheaper. The buttons and dials feel plasticky and loose compared to the X-T1. I was going to get the XS-10 until I found out that it has a similar viewfinder as the X-TX0 cameras. So I bought a barely used X-T3 for $850 and it's awesome! I'll be happy to get an X-T4 used when it drops below $1k I guess for the IBIS? Not sure how much it's needed since I shoot photography 99% of the time.
that viewfinder is the main negative about my x-t20 (also a glasses wearer). I would love to have the X-T3 (or 4) for that reason, but no real need to change at this point. Happy with image quality and camera size of the x-120.
I love it when these types of video were they add the mistakes they do... Makes it more great to watch .... But you know the information is important to
You are a great reviewer. You should have at least 1M subs!
In any case a small interesting camera. I am looking forward to further tests. But i miss the nice adjustable wheels! Great video ;)
You are the man Omar...I think I love you....
Yep! I confirm! It is a great deal for this price, I bought one 2 weeks ago and I love it, with a 16-80mm / 70-300mm. True for the on/off switch, but this would be my only complaint ✨ btw you are a funny dude and your videos are quite pleasant❤
I'm so impressed that you can ride a skateboard while holding a camera and a bag. I am unable to ride a skateboard, much less hold stuff while I do it.
It has a lot going for it . Whilst those of us who who understand the set up or came from film cameras , then this will still provide an excellent introduction to Fujifilm . So, you like the new guy on the block : great . It may not be every bodies go to camera, but that was not the point you were making. Fuji have put a lot of thought in to this little gem ; but we all need to remember is that there is no perfect camera and that is a good thing in my opinion . Thanks for an interesting insight to this little guy.
Thank you for your great review😊! I feel fujifilm just heard me. I am a Nikon user and an amateur photographer. Nikon mirrorless cameras are great but they dont have fully articulated screen and enough lens collection. I like Nikon and Fuji colors. But I was never a fan of Fuji's ergonomics. I guess, this camera will be a relief for many of us who wants to leave the Nikon clan. Even the on-off switch around the shutter is also familiar for Nikon shooters. Of course Fuji shouldn’t have to make it too stiff! I always wanted a cheaper fuji camera but those don’t have the xtrans sensor. This camera just heard our cry for a good affordable fuji system with our familiar ergonomic. Can't wait to get me hands on it at B&H😍
Thanks Omar. Due to your engaging comical sermon, i bought one & sold my XT20. Now i need your lens opinion for a camera used 90 % of time for travel. Havagoodone oh gee & dont stop.
Omar is da man. Straight up no BS. That’s how I roll. I hope Fuji isn’t starting a slow transition to PSAM dials. They got rid of dials in the GFX100 and now this model along with a few others like. x-t200 since. Many of us came to Fuji for the retro experience. I hope they don’t kill their base to be another Sony-esque camera.
You are hilarious and enjoyable to listen too... Good work!
Street fighter 5 Smug’s channel and your channel have the same vibe. Happiness!
I really enjoy your videos for the information and because you are entertaining. I know you like the X-T20 a lot. Would you upgrade to the XS10 from an XT20?
It makes me think of the fuji s5 ... that was a long time ago. I loved that camera. This one reminds me of that camera.
I love the intro!
That grip, screen, and IBIS is all I've been waiting for Fuji to do. I'm sold. Already preordered. Next all we need is better battery life.
Did you get it? If so, how do you like it?
Thank you for this detailed and awesome review! I'm just planning to buy a camera, but I don't know which one should I choose. I'm thinking about X-S10, Sony A6400 and Z50, but I'm open to other cameras. Which one would you recommend for travel, landscape and street photography and in terms of battery life and image quality? Thanks for the answers and help! 😀✌
I'm new to the Fuji ecosystem (X-osystem?) and picking a camera is confusing. There's not a linear progression of good/better/best, and figuring out which one is right is not often easy, not often kind. But what made me finally decide was the price I was able to snag an X-A7 (used) for. While perhaps not my ideal camera, it makes a great entry point, and as I learn that menu system you talk about, it will be easier to get further in as other bargains become available.
But, I do love the results I'm getting, and I recommend anybody thinking about Fuji to do it any way they can.
I've been in the market for at 8 least months. In pre-covid days, took my Canon 70d and a bunch of lenses out to the West Cost. Walking around Los Angeles with a brick with one lens was a challenge. (Wanted to trade my 70d before that, a bit dated.) At any rate, the Fuji cameras are very enticing. I have an XT10 ... you heard that right and love size and quality isn't bad for its age/technology. Decisions, decisions. I've been hung up on the full frame dilemma because my current Canon is very noisy (main reason I want to switch). At any rate, I enjoy your videos, very informative and entertaining.
I hope you are well man. Let me tell you ive just sold my crippled eos rp canon - and entering the fuji world xt3/xt4 probably - and am so excited. its a WORLD of a difference ! Fuji is the real deal and I think im starting to be a fanboy :P
@@dani_da_vision I bought the X-T3 and love it more each day. Menus can be a bit intimidting after shooting Canon for so long but I've adapted and really like the menu setup now. Hope you are well too!! Enjoy the journey.
another great Omar vid. One of the things that drew me to Fuji was the styling and the film camera feel. But once i bought a used X-H1 for the ibis i really liked the grip. use this much more than my x-t3. (95% stills). so I think i'm all in on the x-s10 Only question is I don't see the M-C-S lever on the front. Must be a menu setting? I also don't mind bring extra batteries. you'd want to not matter what for just in case. Thanks again
Beginning to wonder if I’m the only UA-camr that doesn’t ride a skateboard. Is that a requirement? Happy New Year Omar! Thank you for all the great content!
I just pre-ordered it!! My first Fujifilm camera!!! I'm excited ahahha
I jumped into Fuji a couple months ago. I love it and hope you do, too!
@@boztos6025 Thank you!! I will surely love it too :)
I’ll be getting this one to glue it to my 80mm macro lens!
It’s weird that I cannot afford new cameras but still watching Omar’s channels...... I suppose I’m taking it as comedy shows. His appearances really made me laugh. XD
I received mine today. Wow, it's fantastic. My on-off switched easy. I didn't have the switch stiffness issue.
Did you shoot any low light handheld photos?
@@redrocklead I just tried it in low light with SS at 20. It’s different than my xt-30. It seems like you could quickly get used to it. I can feel where it's about to break on the xs -10, but it's a little more subtle than the x-t30. If I had to guess, you probably wouldn't notice the difference after muscle memory kicks in. I was able to get a clean, sharp shot in low light. I hope that helps. I like the other button better, but it's not a deal-breaker for me.
When it’s not raining in Portland, OR, I can see the Excess-10 being a terrific night street photography camera. Throw the 1.4/35 on it or the 1.2/56 and use the living daylights out of the IBIS. Keep the screen closed for antichimping and extended battery life just like the Pro3 (which I have and love).
I've been saving best buy giftcards for this moment. Finally I will own a camera again. And this is the one. Just waiting for best buy to have the preorder available!
I have the X-S10, coming from an X-T1. If you want a simplified interface, the Q button is good for that. My favs are the flip screen and the grip. My biggest negative is the size of the EVF. Big downgrade from the X-T1 (refresh rate is big improvement though). But for what you get for $1k, it's a heck of a camera.
Hello! What do you think about build quality of this camera?Because my X-S10 has some clicky noise on the "rec" button, beside that i am very satisfied with this camera. What are your thoughts about build quality? Do you had some issues?
Hello! What can you say about build quality. I have X-S10 and button "rec" has some clicky noise when i press it...
Thanks, Omar, for your quick pre-production review of this camera. Just wondering if near the first part of your video, the camera was losing focus or slow to refocus. Couldn’t tell if the couple of in-and-out focus was caused by the Fuji X-S10 or something else. Curious, Sylvia
I like your attitude!
"This has most of what that has" thx for that Omar ;-)
Great review (as always). Uses 126 batteries is not a trade-off. It’s a bonus. Who wants to buy new batteries?. But a serious trade off is no weather sealing (which you forgot to mention😀). I love my X-H1 because of the grip and form factor. But it is big. So might get the SX-10 based on your excellent review. Stabilisation on stabilised zooms looks worrying.....
Great Video Omar !
What do you use for video : F-log with color grading or do you chose a specific film simulation ?
Hi Omar, curious how the menu navigation differs from other X cameras bc you can’t press the rear control dials. It’s seems I’d have to navigate with the rear control dial then switch to the nipple/joystick to select an item, or just use the nipple/joystick exclusively. Did you find that issue annoying, if it’s even an issue at all?? Thanks!
Thanks for the great video. Give advice. Which camera to choose xt-3 or xs-10
Thanks for the comments on the X-S10 - not the camera for me, but looks like it will be successful for Fuji. I’m waiting to see what the X-E4 turns out to be.
Oh, and any chance you’ll be getting an A7c from B&H to review? Might also be a good secondary camera to use your Sony lens lineup.
Nice detailed review. How does this compare with the A6400/6600 for occasional vlogging? Asking because I'm coming from a A6000 and that is really familiar and comfortable for me to use.
The last scene was gold xD
Like the way you do your reviews ;) would love to see a best setting video from you on Fuji XS10
Will you get one?
Hey Omar, great vid as always. Just quick a quick non related question. What software do you record your audio to? Or is your mic going straight to camera?
To put it crudely, from a mainly stills shooter viewpoint, the X-S10 is basically an X-T30 with IBIS? I appreciate there are changes in ergonomics and I can see this being a better purchase for beginners or someone moving over to Fujifilm. Looks a great little camera but I don't see the need for myself with an X-T30 and X-H1. As always love the content Omar!
The pros you mentioned are the reasons I am excited and preordered. This was what I have been waiting for in a travel camera. A canon m50 like camera that had ibis and higher quality. So excited to use for travel and perfect compliment to my xt2.
I love this fresh look 🥰🥰🥰 btw which lens did you use for filming this video? Thank you so much.
16mm f/1.4
Hi Omar. I came across your channel looking for X-S10 videos and I’m glad I found your channel. I’m looking to buy this camera primarily for video. You mentioned this camera only records in h.264. Is there a difference in file size and quality compared to h.265? Thanks.
I really love fuji cameras ❤️📷 especially this one and the XT4 😊
Im using XH1 and XT3 😁 love your channel though 👏🏻
Hello! What can you say about build quality. I have X-S10 and button "rec" has some clicky noise when i press it...
I would rather get a future X-T40 with mechanical dials and hopefully better autofocus
Moving from an XT3 to this purely for the ibis. Wish I could afford the XT4. This camera will help me big time. Budding pro here btw. I need ibis for long lenses. Blurry eyes killlll my photos! Dream camera is an X-Pro with ibis.
Custom settings man, the one thing I miss the most from all other brands, being able to change a whole host of setting in a single move that takes a fraction of a second to set aperture, shutter, ISO, focus mode in the blink of an eye for those sudden changes in circumstances, static bird to bird in flight etc
I, for one, am excited about it. Pre-ordered!
lol @ the fuji whisperer snap
I usually only buy cameras once they have been out for a couple of years (hence why I'm responding to a 2 year old video). I have an xt3 and an x100v in my fujifim line up, both make great video footage, but only if you put them on a tripod. I wanted something with stabilisation and flippy screen. So I purchased one in pretty good condition for a reasonable price. My first thoughts were that it's amazing. First off I was surprised how much I love the deep grip. The EVF was a little underwhelming, but as I'm using it for video I can live with that. All the dials and controls are much better for video than the X and T series dials(which I do prefer for photography). The stabilisation works great, flippy screen great, compact size great, footage great, microphone port perfect, autofocus is no Sony, but it's good enough . Everything about using this for a video camera was perfect for my needs. It just has one downside, and it's rather a large one, when you have stabilisation on and you're recording Video, those little batteries just aren't big enough. It's particularly annoying having to carry loads of spare batteries and a charger with you. With that deep grip there was surely room to fit the bigger new battery somewhere! So close Fuji, so close!
Great review Omar! but I heard some UA-camrs complain about the focus hunting while shooting the video like S-T4
could you please confirm?
I think this camera looks like a great everyday carry camera. Even for short day trips with the family.
