Bearded Dragon Incubator - DIY

- I'm far from being an expert on bearded dragons. This is just what I put together one day when I realized I had eggs on the way and nothing to incubate them in. I ran to the store and bought the cord grommets and a cooler. Everything else I had sitting around the house from previous projects. To my surprise it actually worked!! Whiskers laid her eggs August 14th and 15th of '08 and every one of them hatched out two months later.
When I dug the eggs out of the nest box I placed them in a container of moist vermiculite and set them in the incubator. My first ever clutch of bearded dragon eggs stayed in the incubator for 60 days at 86F, and all 23 of them hatched out. One baby died after about 4 days, but none of the others had any trouble at all. As I mentioned before, I am not an expert on bearded dragons. This is just what worked for me once, so I'm trying it again. Maxine is digging in her lay box right now, so hopefully I'll have another clutch of eggs within the next day or two. - Домашні улюбленці та дикі тварини
Thank you my friend, best one i have seen so far.
one improvement cud be to get a habistat ( 15$) and conect aquarium heater to that the put probe by eggs.. :) nice vid....
I was hoping someone tested everyone of these beside each other. I don't want to risk losing any of my beloved reptiles. I was thinking about combining some parts from each of them, but you can't control the heat tape temperature. None of us want to kill or cook our reptile eggs which are in the incubator. But I need more opinions because of some flaws that might come if we use any of these items. Will a warm mist humidifier work to keep a strong steady incubation stage without harming the eggs. And FYI, Use Athlete foot fungus powder to get rid of the mold on eggs. It should save your eggs from dying.
How's the humidity levels? I have one built the kinda of the same way and actually have 15 eggs drown because of the excessive humidity levels that caused droplets of water to form and drip onto the eggs. I have since corrected it by dripping a few holes in the tub and it has corrected the humidity level however I had to sacrifice about a 4 degree drop in temps.
What a great idea! I assume from some of your other videos about the hatchlings, that everything turned out? Did you change anything with the setup, and how are you measuring the water in the hatch media? Looking forward to hearing from you...
BTW This video for sure deserves my subscribe! Good job.
Has anyone tested the 3 diy incubator cheap hacks next to each other? There are 3 I have seen that a lot of people say work better than the expensive incubators.
1.)Heat tape w/metal tape incubator
2.)Pond heater incubator
3.)Heat cables w/ metal tape
Do any of these work better than the rest? This is on a budget hacks to breed reptiles and work your way up to a fridge to create an actual working diy incubator.
what is the other think you have used please
I know a lot of people love their pet reptiles and need them for their jobs to pay bills. Please tell me if these work, please tell me which ones work better than the rest. I need all the info to help others like you all can help me. I want flaws of each one, pro's of each one, and mostly how much successful hatchlings succeeded and survived from each cheap diy incubator. And please try the Athletes foot fungus powder.
Dude can i do this for gecko eggs
Hey are you still using the cooler incubator to hatch your bearded dragon eggs? Just wondering if your able to maintain consistent temperatures.
would this work for ball python eggs
How did it all work out? Were you successful with this incubator?
did u use the indoor our outdoor setting on the thermometer 84 seems very hot on the indoor setting there is about 20 degrees difference between them
The only difference between the settings is that the indoor sensor is on the unit itself, the outdoor sensor is on the probe. Since the probe is in the cooler, the outdoor temp is obviously the one being used.
so what is the pump called and the heater and what the watt?
Any small random water pump will work. Wattage doesn't have to be much due to the small volume of water, it just needs a temperature control dial.
you never did edit that out later inless i saw the uncut version
i did everything you said and got everything you used in the video .my dragons layed eggs
i have 47 eggs in the cooler right now they layed them 6-23-12 had the cooler up about 2 week just to check the temps and everything looks good just alot of humidity . does yours have high humidity levels also ? temps right now are 85.3 f 80 humidity .
ill get back to everyone who wants to know if it works cant wait . ill make a video later
u forgot to edit it, how well did it work?
Very nice work ! can you message me with everything you need for a starter (:
instead of a cooler you should use a polystyrene box it's alot cheaper
But won't last nearly as long.
