- Reptile enclosure project part one- my measurment didn't have to be exact the way i made it but each level is about 4'long x 2'widex 10"high, the total hight is about 43" high. I used 5/8' thick plywood because it's lighter and a lot cheaper than 1" thick. start by nailing or screwing the square shape and screw in the different levels at whatever height you choose.
I like how this guy doesnt claim he know everything but tries even if hes clumpsy lol LOVE THE VIDEO
I love what you did. I'm completely on board with your thinking. Why spend a grip of money when in 2 days you can create what you want- the way you want it. -- and look you made 8 ENCLOSURES !!
This video really has inspired me to make a trip to home depot and make my own enclosure for my ball python. Plus side for me is my pops works in construction-- so if i get stuck he's got it.
great video.
Right on man. That's craftsmanship. Hope they worked out well for you.
Dope set up!!!!! I'm never completely happy when I build stuff so I fork out the dollars. Everything's looks like it's coming together well.
i love these ideas specially the 4 tanks in one i like smaller lizards like geckos i wanted to breed them thatll be very nice to build and cell them for prophet.
nice video!
great vid dude, I'll be building one myself, next month in prep for the next leo mating season.
@bowincklenrj great! with savanas and other lizards you should put a type of plastic down like linolium panels or something for a moisture barrier because they dig and you'll prolly get more moisture on the wood
Sweet! I like your design dude. Nice job on the enclosures.
@madja2224 wow thanks!!! its plywood but i sealed it with water based poly and silicone for the joints. and put a liner in the bottom
like it i am making one my self and you just gave me a idear on how to make one
nice im gonna use your advice on building my savs new cage
Ever think about lining the inside with 12"x12" self adhesive tiles?
They are waterproof and might cover up that heat strip as well. Plus
they look nice.
@pebel101 its 3/4 thick plywood with waterbased polyerothane
thanks! they are great and i will continue building also i will try out some enclosures to see how i like them. home builds are the best tho cause you can do it exactly as you need it to be for a fraction of the cost
@TPReptiles water based polyerothaine and silicone chalk (made for fishtanks)
Super nice!
@hovafl Thanks, it has some mistakes tho lol but i wanted to try it out. took me a while to make sure it was level
@knifecollector98 You can get if at home depo and lowes or any arts/crafts store
@reptilechick90 it is very easy and in my oppinion you can make a model type that would cost you a thousand or more for just a couple hundred bucks.
this is so cool!!
i didnt either intil i tried and theres some things that i would change if i do it again to make them even better :) just try it
Nice bro I like how u build that stuff see I want to build stuff like thus but I don't know how :(
What type of wood is it???? And by the way one of the best home made racks/cages I ever seen
for the sliding door you are better off cutting a strip of plywood and cutting a groove in it for the sliding door groove the glass will not pop out trust
Thank you so much! This helped tremendously! Im off to go and buy my things :D
@702justin702 not a true list but theres another vid which shows supplies, check it out
is there a gap in between it? the glass thats what happpen to me i use plexi glass and the same tracks and my snake got out 2 times
@boydowninhouston Thanks a lot!
@MisterStrangler ok i'll do a update vid soon
Nice i have a boaphile how can i keep heat in ?
@MrReptileSmile haha maybe one day if I actually get good at it, there's definitely some imperfections but the animals will do great in them! lol
What kind of wood and what thickness? Definitely want to make my own
the reason its short is because of the thickness of wood
what kind of track do you use for the glass? i couldnt find the right kind at the hardware store today, HELP!
I want to build me a tegu cage out of 4'x8' plywood that's 6 feet long 3 feet wide and 3 feet high and the frame will be out of 2"x4"x12'. Would polyurethane be good enough or should I use a primer and a exterior paint I'm just asking your basic opinion this'll be the first time building such a thing LOL. And what are the dimensions on your plexi glass and where did you get them and for what cost? Thanks...
what exactly is the name of the plastic that the doors slide in?
How did you stop it from bowing in the middle
what is heat tape and where can i get some, also where do i get the track for the glass
Some good ideas. A lil annoying that everyone wants to talk over music
Why didnt you just put the heat tape on the back of the cages.
@knglee3rd Do you remember exactly what they are called? It would help me a lot if you could tell me.
what are the glass track u used can u tell me what they are called
does the heat tape warm the whole tank ?
My snake escaped through flexi glass, not advisable. They squeeze through and the flex does not help.
I breed some pretty serious boas and this will b my first big build because I am starting to get overstocked with these breeds and just want something nice and not costly like the rest of my cages plus just kind of tired of having my animals in plastic totes
@knglee3rd How much did those tracks cost you and how long were they? I am trying to find something like that for my 6x3x3 enclosure.
they cost about 3 bucks for 8ft strips
at home depot or lowes
@indias1815 Thanks i have a couple projects coming up, subscribe to see the vids!
do you have a supply list?
Where did you get your plywood from and where did you get your sliding things from ?
@knglee I jus need to know A. what were all ur dememtions and B. how did u keep it from bowing in the middle
I was so happy when I heard pretender
Where did you get the sliding glass doors?
he said it was plexiglass. you can get it at your local hardware/lumber yard
Wait , what are you doing for lighting
What are the black slide things called
so how much does anyone.think a 6x4x3 would cost??
you ever heard of back heat? well i guess you have now ;) lol
Any type of pine or aromatic would is bad for reptiles even if you polacrilc the hell out of it they can get respiratory infections. Its a good cage but im a cabinet maker soni have real experience with way harder things, but in stead of 3/4" plywood id use 1/2 so much lighter
lol
Not good for a snakes
hey man i was wondering about the sealant you used to make the cages. is it non toxic? or if not after it cures does the toxicty dissapate like fish tank silicone? also i was kinda under the impression that plywood had toxic glues from being pressed. give me your thoughts and opinions. get at me. -A
Heat tape goes on bottom
What are the black slide things called
