- How to make an Incubator for your bearded dragon eggs. In this video, I'll share a little bit on how to construct two different types of incubators, both of which can be put together with supplies that will cost you less than $30-50, depending on what supplies you can find on sale. These are easy to make and work quite well. I have had great success using these as I am confident that you will as well. Please leave feedback if you have any questions or suggestions of what you would like to see in the future. Check out my other videos for other tips and helpful hints.

No, I normally don't need to add any water, but it's a good ideal to keep an eye on the water levels just to be sure.
What should humidity be? 1st incubator you showed looked very humid and 2nd not so much. What is the proper humidity level for incubation? Also do you have video on what eggs should look or feel like. The sunken in eggs in your 1st incubator, was that a viable egg or infertile? Thank you for you videos and help.
This is the type of vid I was looking for !!! Was trying to beat around the bush to NOT buy an incubator. And the first example is what I was looking for !😁👍🏼 thank you !
So glad to help!
@pattyG112595 The set up can be most expensive. You can set up a nursery tank for anywhere from $50 to $100 in supplies, depending on sales. The clutch will yeild about 15-25 babies, needing to eat each day. Check into local prices for crickets. I go through 100 baby crickets every 3 days or so, as well as greens for them to eat. It can cost about $75 in food by the time they are ready for new homes. It can get costly...
your set up is the best/easiest set up ever. this is great:-) so about how long does it take for the eggs to hatch?
greenizDAnublaque I think it was 2 months
I thought I had 2 females, but after 6 years of having them, I wake up to a clutch of little beardie eggs! I am incredably happy, and hope I make an incubater correctly XD!
Females can lay eggs without a male. They are just infertile
Great, but where did you buy everything in the first 10 gal. incubator? With the submersible heater, repti carry, and such? Thanks. My beardie is in labor and im very very intrigued with my situation.
witg the incubator with the water heater do you have to soemtimes add water to the bottom ? does it evaporate and do you have to keep adding water ?
@pattyG112595 You will also need a UVA/UVB bulb, heat lamp (100W) and a night bulb. Keep the UVB and heat on for 10-12 hours each day. Keep night heat lamp on overnight. Provide a basking area that is about 6-10 inches away from the heat lamp... not too close.
My eggs are starting to turn brown in some spots. Any advice or are they okay? I have an incubator set up like your first one.
Awesome man... Great video my babygirl is almost ready
thank you so much for making this video! im afraid my bearded dragon is about to lay eggs, she has been digging a lot lately..... but im worried, because she doesnt have enough calcium, she barley ever eats her greens, so im afraid the eggs will use her calcium. idk if they will be fertile though, i dont have a male. i just dont know what to do! im not prepared or anything!
Thats normal
+Michelle Colledge You will want to give her a calcium powder supplement. You should find this at your local pet store. If she does lay eggs and does not have a male, then no, the eggs will not be fertilized. You should be save to dispose of the eggs once she has buried them.
Michelle Colledge they won't be fertile cuz you don't have a male so let her lay them then in a few days take her out and keep her occupied while you dispose of her eggs ..
Michelle Colledge if you don’t have a male (unless the beardie you got was designated to breed from a breeder) is most likely not going to lay eggs. mine did the same for a while but it was just skin irritation and she was trying to find something to scratch on. so if you are not sure then maybe go see a vet or do some research on exactly what your bearded dragon is doing.
Michelle Colledge is she even mated?
It has been a week since I put the eggs in a foam cooler type incubator like the one on your video and it is staring to create an odor not to strong but is it normal?
@KandTproductions100 Thanks very much! It works really well as a bedding material for a female laying eggs. It's perfect. I've tried different substrates and this one seems to be the best that I've found.
Hi! I watched your video and I tried making my own incubator for my bearded dragon eggs. I got a plastic storage bin and a tank water heater. I only put enough water to cover the heater but I can't get the temp over 70° any suggestions what I can do to bring that up? Thank you!!
you need to make sure that you have the correct heaters. I used an aquarium heater along with a reptile heating pad.
@@larryshair I did use an aquarium heater, maybe I need a bigger one? Or maybe add a second one?
Do I need to poke holes in the container for the eggs
@djohnson5693 Were you able to see if there was a baby in the egg (shine light behind the egg and peer through)?. This can be done within about 3 weeks. You can also make out small veins in the egg. Make sure to handle them carefully. If this clutch didn't hatch, she should lay again within about a month. Be sure to have your incubator on and ready for when she lays her eggs. Let me know how it goes : )
Does the cardboard over the one in the water keep them from getting yet? Just wondering
did you have the heater all the way under water or was it about half way out
did both of these incubators work? cause im thinking about breeding my beardies :)
@brockstar1720 Yes, you can use vermiculite. You might want to slightly dampen it (not dripping, just slightly moist). Wring it out, and that should work nicely. Thanks for the comments!
that's cool now I know what to use when I breed my bearded dragons what is the highest temperature for the eggs to be at
@mentalkid805 I'm not sure of the maximum wattage but most of them are adjustable and can produce the proper amount of heat based on the size of the incubator that you are going to set up.
Does the incubator work for leopard geckos to?
and much do you think pet store's will pay you if you breed them?Because
me and my friends were thinking about breeding
@djohnson5693 Here's a few tips once you have your incubator made. Make sure that when you move her eggs, you do it as soon as you are able (once she has laid them). You want to be sure that you keep them in the same position when you move them to the incubator. Try not to turn them over. There is also the possibility that her eggs weren't fertilized.
What is the wattage on the submersible heater?
what should the humidity in your fish tank incubator?
Great video cheap incubator OK!
Having trouble getting temps right...... Any ideas
that is coconut fiber brick.. its fantastic
@1928joannebois Thanks very much! As far as a substrate, it depends on if you have an adult or not. If you have an adult, I like to use a combination of play sand and a walnut shell reptile sand. I'd suggest that you fee dthem on a plate so that they don't injest too much of the substrate. If you have a younger beardie, I would suggest that you use iether reptile carpet or paper towels.
@pattyG112595 I have several videos on proper care and breeding tips. What specific questions do you have? I should warn you, it's alot of time, money and patience that goes into breeding and proper care. I recommend a really good book called "Your Bearded Dragon's Life" by Liz Palika. It has a wealth of information that I would not be able to list in a simple reply on this site. You should be able to find it on Amazon. Do you have any specific questions that I can answer for you?
Gr8 video, the best!
Dude i have 3 females and 1 me nd they wont mate? Why? Is there a way i can force them?
how long does it take them to hatch?
@DarkDragon430 Yes, you can.
what should the humidity level be?
@pattyG112595 I am in Southern California and do sell them to local pet stores as well as private parties that are in the area. I have 20 babies that are going to be ready in about 3 weeks.
Man, I wish I had seen this when my beardies were laying eggs. I looked and looked for a good homemade incubator. Came close but wasn't able to get any to hatch.
will you give us a link on all of the stuff that you have i want to breed my beardies really bad i think it would be really fun to breed bearded dragons sense i had them for most of my life.
You'll want to check with your local pet store to see if they will be willing to buy them. Count on 3-4 clutches in a breeding sealing with about 15-20 beardies per clutch. It would be important to check that first before you start to breed them and have no home to place them with.
So u live on southern Cali. May I ask in what city?
is that a terrarium you filled with water or an aquarium?
You can use either. I used a 10 gallon terrarium. You can get one for around $10.
can i do the same for my curly tail swift's eggs
Where did u buy the bed a beast cause all I see a brick form Is Eco earth
Budget eco earth basically? I got plenty of eco earth:) thank you
Can i leave the eggs where they layed them?
No because the parents could eat them and they need a tank themselve
@Angelaik1 Thanks!
are you able to let one male mate with two female's?
I would just suggest that you go to your local pet store and ask if they would be interested in buying them from you before you begin.
@BeardedDragonHelpr You can't force mother nature... You should be sure that you have plenty of space for than many bearies to exsist together. Stress can cause them not to breed by living in tight quarters. I would think you would need a pretty large enclosure for 4 beardies. That might be a problem. You can try to remove 2 of the females and just leave the male and female together. I'm thinkging you might have a population/living space problem...
@A7XrevX 60-75 days.
@123bz1 Thanks!
you have a pokewalker :D
you guys are obssesd with your bearded dragons
can i maybe buy a bearded dragon from u
GetWrecked88 no 🙅🏼♂️
