I can not wait to install a new light now ⚠️ So he said keep the brakers on ?? Black is the wire that's the ground ? Yes ! Darn I don't have a tester with the Blinky lights 🤔🤔 YES💡 I DO , the husbands home . ⚡🤣
I was contemplating doing it myself until the first part of the video 😳 Consider me scared! But great detailed video and these fixtures are beautiful 🤩
Thank you. Felt very confident in doing it myself after watching. Actually what I learned from high school physics classes laid a good foundation. All the warnings to avoid lawsuit 😄. I got it. Just like warnings on the food packages.
Great video, TY. The only thing I would suggest is testing the lights work BEFORE you put all the screws back in ceiling plate. If they didn't work, you'd have to unscrew everything again.. p.s. Love your sense of humor. :)
How's it going Tom? Finally got a rack for the yak. We should go fishing again soon. I think you're pretty safe though. The video only has 64 views so far. lol If you need an apprentice let me know. : )
I've installed new light fixtures before and have had no issues with the previous ones. This current one that my wife bought presents a new challenge that I've not had to deal with in the past. The cable is way too long for what I would need. I believe I can just cut the excess off from the top portion to the desired length, but was wondering if you have any videos where you've encountered the same or if you can confirm that's all that needs to be done? Thanks.
Just got some kitchen pendants for my new build and noticed when I took the cover plate off that the box isn't flush with the drywall, so my ceiling plate and canopy don't line up at the screws to attach. What do you suggest I do?
Just reaching out... I am approaching a dilemma and I cannot find any info on my next task so I thought I would reach out and see if I can get some feedback. I have and am sound proofing my middle bedroom to be my new home recording studio. The walls are secure with triple insulation including 1-1/2 rigid foam insulation sealed with insulation spray foam. This room is not only dead silent now it is completely air tight...except for my ceiling. The only thing left is the ceiling. My plan is to also apply the 1-1/2 rigid insulation sheets to the ceiling. Once done the entire room will be completely covered in 2-inch acoustic foam panels. Here's my issue. I need to drop my ceiling light fixtures down about four inches. Wiring is not a concern, but I'm not sure how to securely drop & mount the box to remount my lights to clear the double foam. Your thoughts?
You actually don't "have" to connect the ground wire. Its certainly recommended however. Alternatively, you can attach the ground wire to any piece of metal as well.
Great video but I have a problem/question with my situation. The old hanging ceiling light in place is bigger than the new one I got so the hole in the ceiling is too big. Any tips or videos you could point me to to assist?
Me thinking I could do this myself with help from a UA-cam video. The Video: If you do this wrong you could die, and burn down your whole house. Me: Nvm the old lights don’t look that bad after all 🤣
@MiguelRobertson Being electrocuted won't always kill you, depending on the current. I'd wager most people who tinker with electronics have been zapped at least a couple of times.
That depends on the fixture. The ones I installed had a compression nut that you could loosen and then reinstall if you had to cut the wire. I'd venture that your light has the same thing.
Sir, how can I do it if its for a rental apartment? Where the lights are just bulbs directly being installed into the ceiling. I don't know if I'm explaining myself properly. Haha sorry
I highly recommend that you don't. You could be liable for the entire complex if something goes wrong. However, the next time you see one of the maintenance personnel ask them if they can change out the fixture for you. It's definitely worth asking the question. Some of them are pretty cool and wouldn't mind doing it. If it's possible it would only take them a few minutes to complete the swap.
This guy must be an electrician and doesn’t want people doing it themselves 🤦♂️ with all those warnings he shoots out. He wants you to spend the money and call an electrician

Same
Yup
Me too! 😒Calling a professional now 😂😭
What happened during the last part? Because he had to hold the fixture himself?
Same😂
I love how enthusiastic he is about the possibility of me dying.
😂😂😂
I thought about replacing the light fixture in my guest room, then I watched this video. His scare tactic totally worked 😂🤣😆
I literally just spit my beer out reading this.
Btw my light works great. Only a little bit of death 😂

Thank you. Felt very confident in doing it myself after watching. Actually what I learned from high school physics classes laid a good foundation.
All the warnings to avoid lawsuit 😄. I got it. Just like warnings on the food packages.

The only good video I can find filmed right in my home town😂 Go Bucs💪🏼💪🏼
This is my first time watching this channel and I just have a feeling that this guy's got a god tier sense of humor

Thanks I got what I needed out of your video - call an electrician hahaha
This was so useful! Thank-you!
Great video, thanks for posting
Hey Tim, good to see your face again. Are you trying to put me out of business? You know I’m in electrician right?😂
How's it going Tom? Finally got a rack for the yak. We should go fishing again soon. I think you're pretty safe though. The video only has 64 views so far. lol If you need an apprentice let me know. : )
Moore Approved Yeah I would love to get on the water let me know when you are available.
Cool and precise thank you
I replaced batteries once. I am pretty sure I am a licenzed specialist.
Time to play with.. I mean, professionally install some electronics.
thank you I think I can do it now, looks doable

Nice.. It help a lot
My light fixture that’s connecting to the wall doesn’t have a third bare wire. What should I do with the bare wire coming in from the ceiling
Just got some kitchen pendants for my new build and noticed when I took the cover plate off that the box isn't flush with the drywall, so my ceiling plate and canopy don't line up at the screws to attach. What do you suggest I do?
Thank you 😊!! Your video really helped me!!
I have a extra green wire coming from the light fixture, what do I do with it?
I'll take the risk and will install it
it's easy..No need to Consult anyone
I also had fixtures like that I used a hair dryer to them to straighten them out
can you tell how you did it?

Hey Moore on the second one you had a green screw, why did you take it off and not connect it to the ground wire to it? Thanks!
You actually don't "have" to connect the ground wire. Its certainly recommended however. Alternatively, you can attach the ground wire to any piece of metal as well.
Great video but I have a problem/question with my situation.

Argh , l need to hire someone to install my cheap IKEA kitchen lights 🙄
Well, I have free light fixtures 🤦🏻♀️, and he just ended my enthusiasm 😅
I need this one today
Me thinking I could do this myself with help from a UA-cam video.
The Video: If you do this wrong you could die, and burn down your whole house.
Me: Nvm the old lights don’t look that bad after all 🤣
😂😂
How do you take the cages off the one with three bulbs?
Thank you!
Hairdryer the cable while applying light downward pressure. Kink sorted.
Don't pull too hard!
Ok got it! .... I think, ground wire to ground wire ...cap, black to black...cap and white to white .... cap. Pray for me!
Did you get it?
I think she never got it 😬
Be sure and wrap the copper ground around the ground screw (it might be green) and tighten it. That’s the grounded part.
Can’t u test the wires with a multi meter
Do you know how to straight the cable????
How to stretch the black wire please
Agreed how dramatic!!
Came here after being electrocuted 😂
@MiguelRobertson Being electrocuted won't always kill you, depending on the current. I'd wager most people who tinker with electronics have been zapped at least a couple of times.
oh no that’s horrible 🥺
I installed a pendant light in just doubtful how the electric wire is going to handle all the weight. My light pendant is heavy
so this is where Sylar went after the show ended.
😂😂😂
Wish you did a slower connection of the wires. Kind of rushed through the most important part. :|
how do you shorten the string that holds the light mine is to long :(
That depends on the fixture. The ones I installed had a compression nut that you could loosen and then reinstall if you had to cut the wire. I'd venture that your light has the same thing.
My pendant has 2 black wires. Does it matter which one gets attached to the white wire?
When you say bare wire do you mean ground wire? Thanks
Yes
Good Lord , this man has beautiful blue eyes !
Ceiling lamp😍
Is it possible to install a light if you don't have fixer but just a plan wall ceiling :(?
Yes it’s possible when you buy remote light on Amazon and place it on the ceiling
what if there’s no hole?
If I was going to consult a professional, would not be watching this

Amazing
My mans said all you gone need is a little screwdriver and stool then pulled out a powerdrill.
I will hire a pro. I’m not to proud…😉
good
Pano assimbollin
Yea no i think ill get an electrician lol but thank you so much
Oh my god! so scary😵
❄️❄️❄️❄️
Okay yeah I'm calling an electrician 🥴
That may be all she wrote 🤣🤣🤣
Why do UA-camr's insist on showing me how to drive in a screw?
Wago 221….
Link to tester is broken. Feel free to delete this comment.
This guy must be an electrician and doesn’t want people doing it themselves 🤦♂️ with all those warnings he shoots out. He wants you to spend the money and call an electrician
He wants to not be sued if someone screws up and burns down their house... if it were about job security, he just wouldn't have published the video :P
Too much emphasis on death and destruction! Geez. Very demotivational.
LoL every home is made up of cardboard in USA..
The level of death and destruction talked about in this video makes it virtually unbearable to watch!
Amazing
