I agree :> I wasted so much time stocking on resources (playing as wurt), only to realise they take too long to spawn food by winter :') imma stick to maybe only having a few juicy berry bushes and farm cactus + ice
Id recommend log suits over football helms for Deerclops. They're arguably easier to get/renew, but mostly youll likely have a beefalo hat or tam equipped on your head slot to stay warm during the fight. You're probably wearing a backpack on your body slot, which won't help you vs. deerclops so you may as well swap it for armour, while your head slot is actively providing you temperature protection (& for the tam, helping counteract the sanity drain from clops) 😊 + they just absorb more DMG than a football helm. You'll be safer in your log suit 👍 & Plz, dont use an axe to kill koalefants & beefalo. Craft a spear at least, it'll make things so much quicker & easier
Yeah, my first time beating deerclops by myself has left me in an awkward spot because I did nothing but prepare for him the entire winter. Thanks for the guide!
12:37 Dragonpie is a really big investment, but once you have it, you're set for food pretty much all the time! Even in winter, for the first half of it, I still had leftover dragonpie!

Me- attempts to take on a tree guard at day 5, with absolutely no gear at all Me- sets up a huge base after learning from all my mistakes Day 50, summer- Imma just light one thing on fire... My whole based burnt to the ground... All of these things happened to me I am horrible at this game
At least you made it past summer. My friend and I have like 32 hours on this game and still haven’t passed winter lmao. Hell we don’t even know what character we like best lmao
Well, you seem to have gotten nicer in the past few years. Just remember that your older videos will likely be your first impression on a person, so dont be surprised if people are hesitant to subscribe.
Another tip for getting a hambat: werepigs. Make a spear and wear wood armor/football helmet to fight spiders to gather 4 monster meat. Feed a pig 4 monster meat to transform into a werepig, wait for it to howl and you can get at least 5 free hits, dodge and attack twice and reapeat. A werepig always drops two big meat and a pig skin which is just enough for a hambat
I would say wendy is the beginner friendlier character, because her sister is really good for gathering food and killing weak, but overwhelming amounts of foes, like spiders.
@@leonm.8865 In dont starve single player she cant summon without a sacrifice willow is one of the best since she is hard to go insane with if you have mandrakes or of you just sleep boom no more burning things
So I've learned a lot from your intro guides, because I took a long break, and even prior to that I struggled with just surviving because of some basic mechanics I didn't quite grasp. It's odd finding myself in the winter *not* struggling to not die, and trying to figure out what I should be working on instead. But there's one thing you do that I don't get. Why would you spend so much time trying to corner things like the Koalefant instead of just having a boomerang? The time invested in getting the resources for one, resources you already get for other important things in the base, seems much lower than the time spent chasing, and chasing, and chasing.
I think that the reason why people tend to not use boomerings is because people tend to forget that they exist lol. But even if that isn't the case, if you plan to use a boomerang on a Koalefant, a boomering will take up an entire inventory slot. Usually inventory is something you're really going to want to manage, especially if you're wearing insulated clothing for longer excursions during winter or cooling down in summer, so there's no sense in wasting an entire inventory space when you can just back the beast into a corner and attack it that way. Even if it isn't a season for those types of clothing, it'll also be difficult to know when you'll find a Koalefant track when you're out and about, and if you end up not finding a Koalefant, it's basically just a wasted inventory slot. Really, I think the reason most people don't use boomerangs is because people are more frugal with what their inventory should hold. And sure it's cheap, but if you fail to catch it, you'll end up taking damage. Still, boomerangs are also good for getting smaller morsels of food, which isn't something to be laughed at and is definitely something I might start thinking about using more now that I'm actually thinking about it. As for why I don't use the boomerang--eh... I just forget that it exists, to be honest.
Thats....the point of the video...for noobs to get better at the game. Doesnt matter if they actually do cause rick has been explained these things for months but due to the way he used to express himself they thought he was trying to ruin their fun. Still rick makes great points
Man i just got past winter in these 3 days, when you will post about spring i will be probably in summer and when you post about summer ill probably be in autumn.also deerclops didn't spawn on my world , im day 47 and im always wet, i can very easily made a rain coat but nah, i need nightmare fuel.
Try equipping yourself with a football helmet/any hat that gives 20+% wetness resistance and an umbrella, that way you don't need to sacrifice your body slot for a raincoat.
@@levkrasovsky4920thanks , i already use football helmets everytime but i should take in consideration the umbrella, i got 50 pig skins so i got enough materials for umbrellas... i was in swamp and the wetness almost killed me , i just beated spider queen then the night came and the wetness made me insane and i could easily kite all the terrorbeaks and crawling horrors till dawn but my campfire was near 5 tentacles and everytime i was kiting a terrorbeak when i dodged back from attacks tentacles were swinging at me, and all the night i had to dance samba there fighting every terrorbeak and doging the tentacles with 40 hp, i guess that was the tentacles revenge , because i killed, farmed and tortured them a lot trough my gameplay, the hardest part was when 2 terrorbeak and 1 crawling horror attacked me at the same time, i think all could have been avoided if i had an umbrella or an latern to just run away without looking back in the darkness...i cant wait for summer where i can just make a base in desert and farm cactus the whole freaking summer, i will not go into caves because last time i reached summer i got killed in caves.i think the summer will be pretty chill
I didn't know that those ice hounds freeze things around you when they die , I found them gathered around an ice staff which was like 6-7 of em and lured them to the swamp so they attack the tentacles monster , then some followed and died there and I tanked the tentacle in 9 seconds , it was pretty low I gues from fighting those hounds. How I came up with this idea was like looking at the pigs attacking the spiders while I was just watching and collecting the loot lol , so I was like I wonder if this is possible xD oh yea and some of the ice hounds didnt follow which I met up with them later , I just smacked them with the torch and they ran away on fire everytime I smacked them but kept following me (bec I watched them burn and run around). I think this is effective way of killing them. it took like maybe 4-5 smacks.
3:01 real quick seizure in your face to tap that like button, sorry I just thought its funny I already liked and subscribed i like your videos their great keep going!
Funnily enough, when I based near the Dragonfly as her, I found her to be ludicrously good due to the lava pools being a permanent source of heat and her taking no damage from fire, so you can make two thermal stones, keep one with you and put another right next to the pool to heat up and swap when you get cold, making sure you overheat before walking away from the lava pool. Very comfortable and low maintenance winter, I have to say.
Well about the helmet if you are just going to chop trees mine rocks or check rabbit traps or something that you wont be fighting than winter gear can be useful so you don't need to make a fire when out and you can have a football helmet in your inventory for surprise combat
A method I use for pig loot is using excess monster meat, befriend multiple pigs (like 3 or so) then turning 1 into a werepig with more monster meat and kill the werepig with the help of the other pigs
Not trying to be mean here or anything but I saw the video where you ranked dst youtubers long story short I didn’t really agree with that but you redeem yourself with amazing tutorials and videos! P.S because of these tutorials I have made it to day 40 which I feel is pretty good for me because I have only played for around 2-3 weeks.
Hello, Do you have a discord server? Also i would like to become a member of your channel but i dont think i can right now. Are you going to enable memberships?
10:43 I seriously can't think of a single instance of "surprise combat" in the game. Swapping headgear takes like 2 seconds max (though it could easily be less than 1 second if you're fast about it). What kind of enemy can possibly show up and attack you within those 2 seconds?
WELP. Just experienced a PRIME example of surprise combat. So I was playing as Wendy in Shipwrecked, and I was standing by my fire at night, right? My fire was really low, but the dawn was like 5 seconds away, so I figured "Alright, no reason to waste fuel hear, might as well just wait out these last few seconds. Then, RIGHT as the night was ending, when my fire was so low I could barely even see my own character, a snake snuck right up on me and bit me without making a sound. I WAS AT 11 HEALTH. Though, I just looked it up on the wiki, and it turns out snakes only deal 10 damage. I was wearing a football helmet at the time, so when I saw that snake biting me, I thought for SURE I was dead. Then I saw I only took 2 damage. And it was only then that I realized that I was wearing a football helmet, and that it probably saved my life. But then I checked the wiki, and found I would have survived anyways... Oh well, the point still stands. Armor is important, especially when you've got no visibility like that!
i would go against hammering pighouses everytime you want a football helmet or hambat, its a lot more efficient in long-term (which usually is what worlds go for), to use loot from the pighouse to build a farm as early as possible, and feed a pig 4 monster meat (easily achievable with one or two traps near spider nest, going in and out and having spawned spiders chase you to them) or waiting for full moon to get it turned into werepig and killing it for an almost full hambat recipe. Explaining that breaking pighouses for football helmets and hambats lead them to having long-lived worlds running out of pig butts to craft umbrellas, football helmes and hambats for the future, since every single one of these crafts spoil or breaks. Be mindful about that
and using panflute to kill mactusks and their hounds... isnt needed even if you were playing as Wes. Just lure them to some penguins or bring enough healing and armor to tank hounds and take 2-5 shots while taking care of them with a spear or smth with a bit more than 30 damage, depending on your character's strength multiplier(a full hunger wolfgang may not even take 2 shots), and then you should run over MacTusk until it surrenders to its fate
The reason people think the tam'o shanter is good is because they are capable of pressing a button when an enemy approaches, which is all you need to be able to do to use the football helmet for combat and the 'shanter for all other times. I have a few friends that play don't starve that have a similar inability to equip 'combat' defensive items when they are attacked, and I just can't fathom it!!! What on earth is difficult about pressing '4' (for eg.) when you see a bad guy? I really, really can't possibly see the problem with it?! I'd love to hear what is taxing about it, because it's been puzzling me for ages!
I hate when i get ready for winter and every thing going great till that random players burn my pase and destroying everything:,)that makes me hate the game .
@@milesandrews6711 well there is a lot more I could question like how can I eat over 50 meaty stews (it's a waste to eat all at once) but if I wanted to I can never be full!!!
Klaus does not always spawn in the same area, even on the same world. There are three spawning areas per world, and it randomly chooses one. It can be in mosaic, or either of the deciduous forest biomes.
this is pretty good but personly I feel that you should just equipe the football hallment and eniquip it when theres no danger also while backpacks are in genarald better than log suits agin just swich in be tween
I litteraly got the luckiest world. Pig king next to swamp and dragon fly desert. There is also a sinkhole next to the pig king which is the closest to the ruins.
I was wondering if he was going to say not to wear the eyebrella bc the footballhelmet is better.... I never wear footballhelmet bc i never take damage
Oh my gosh I'm so happy someone else knows my trick, I've been doing the thing where you capture warrior spiders in traps for a LONG time now, I thought I might've been the only one. Also you got something wrong, the sewing kit repairs about exactly 5 days worth of use on clothing. I've repaired my eyebrella many times, and I keep wanting to facepalm when I realized I did it too soon yet again, wasting some durability.
Can't you just run mctusk down? He'll run away only so far, and then start going back to his igloo. By then hounds are long gone and distracted, while tusk is literally walking into you, so you can easily stunlock.
I started playing dst a week ago, today I killed deerclops for the first time (I died to him once before). After celebrating this accomplishment, I ate the eye in accident. I'm a fucking idiot
I don’t usually bother crafting winter clothing but if you get a tam, isn’t it worth the inv slot just to not need to warm up as often? I feel like randomly dying to surprise combat from not wearing a football helmet doesn’t really happen often.
If u wanna use tam u better carry a thermal as well or have a torch ready cause the moment danger vomes along and you equipe helmet temp drops down quick and u have to deal with danger and cold at the same time ... kinda annoying better use at least a thermal or both
I just got the game so im a bit confused. What if im playing w Friends but se need to get the eyebrella to be safer at spring, but the clops only drop 1 eye. Can we get more? Btw great video

Poor chester...no wonder he is always quiet
Needs rework : Thermal stone , winter clothes , flowers , cactus , tree warm , Star Caller's Staff , all Armor , all Weapon , Birds( Feather) , darts , walls , Catcoons, Shadow creatures, summer, summer clothes , mechanics cold and warm food, featherfan, Thermal Measurer, insulated Pack, Antlion, Deerclops, Bearger, Moose/Goose, maybe Tree Guards and Spider Queen. dream rework, sanity, dream rework. And more more more
me and my friends are struggling with food right now, but deerclops will be no problem with my 15 gear 78 and tentacle spikes
I hate when i get ready for winter and every thing going great till that random players burn my pase and destroying everything:,)that makes me hate the game .
I've managed to get base with both a wormhole to pig king and a wormhole to desert nearby, so I dont really need my base in the middle of a desert
me with hundreds upon hundreds of hours playing dont starve: *Interesting*
It’s day 31 and my deerclops didn’t spawn, did I miss it?
Yup, if you are playing dst and not ds
Mind explaining how you can fix a stone with a sewing kit?
You can restore sanity, a mental and abstract attribute by showing cooked cactus down your gullet
And you're questioning sowing kits
@@milesandrews6711 well there is a lot more I could question like how can I eat over 50 meaty stews (it's a waste to eat all at once) but if I wanted to I can never be full!!!
So what do u do with the base when its summer on desert?
Go hide in the caves
I have a question: The Klaus always spawn at the same area?
P.D: Nice video!!
Klaus does not always spawn in the same area, even on the same world. There are three spawning areas per world, and it randomly chooses one. It can be in mosaic, or either of the deciduous forest biomes.
@@EdgyRick thanks a lot
Deerclops did not spawn any of the nights for me, and now I am in spring🙁
No no no, he spawned. He just ran away from you immediately and despawned. That's why you sit at your base because he's attracted to structures.
This was great
I just rush mac tusk you can run faster than dogs and the dogs will usually stop following you and go back to the baby
Thank you so much bro
did anyone else notice he only mentions the stuff that fits with the way he plays?
this is pretty good but personly I feel that you should just equipe the football hallment and eniquip it when theres no danger also while backpacks are in genarald better than log suits agin just swich in be tween
I litteraly got the luckiest world. Pig king next to swamp and dragon fly desert. There is also a sinkhole next to the pig king which is the closest to the ruins.
seed?
Seeds don't exist.
@@sc1rxz they do
If they do i dont know where to find my seed.
I am watching this after I just finished spring :/
After the initial pig skin farm, what do you do to get more pig skin later?
If you are a noob please please please please use winter items like beef hat Beef are ez to kill so it’s pretty ez to get. Just to be safe
I am day 26 and I broke my football helmet twice and I got no pig skin and broke all pig houses I have on my map
I was wondering if he was going to say not to wear the eyebrella bc the footballhelmet is better....
I never wear footballhelmet bc i never take damage
What Wurt friendly food should I use in place for the pierogi?
Oh my gosh I'm so happy someone else knows my trick, I've been doing the thing where you capture warrior spiders in traps for a LONG time now, I thought I might've been the only one.
Also you got something wrong, the sewing kit repairs about exactly 5 days worth of use on clothing. I've repaired my eyebrella many times, and I keep wanting to facepalm when I realized I did it too soon yet again, wasting some durability.
Winter's easy? Ok, I believe you :)
Great Videoa
Can't you just run mctusk down? He'll run away only so far, and then start going back to his igloo. By then hounds are long gone and distracted, while tusk is literally walking into you, so you can easily stunlock.
I started playing dst a week ago, today I killed deerclops for the first time (I died to him once before).
After celebrating this accomplishment, I ate the eye in accident.
I'm a fucking idiot
For some reason the majority of desserts are next to a disiduos forest for me
Could I use a tentacle spike for the deerclops fight?
Yo Day 30 night huh. Today i played and deerclops came at Day 29 dusk
Were you playing DS, not DST?
@@EdgyRick Yes i was playing dst
I don’t usually bother crafting winter clothing but if you get a tam, isn’t it worth the inv slot just to not need to warm up as often? I feel like randomly dying to surprise combat from not wearing a football helmet doesn’t really happen often.
If u wanna use tam u better carry a thermal as well or have a torch ready cause the moment danger vomes along and you equipe helmet temp drops down quick and u have to deal with danger and cold at the same time ... kinda annoying better use at least a thermal or both
Can you make a character tier list for Don't Starve (not together)?
In 10:31 did i see the word gross in the top right corner?
Its actually 10:30
U really good
Thanks ❤️
I just got the game so im a bit confused. What if im playing w Friends but se need to get the eyebrella to be safer at spring, but the clops only drop 1 eye. Can we get more? Btw great video
You can't get multiple in the first Winter. You'll need to use other rain resistant gear. You can get another one on the second winter.
@@EdgyRick I see, u r helping me and my Friends a lot thanks
@@vergilsgamingchair8772 oh, I get it. Thanks. Now I wanna practice that
How unlucky am i? The first track i ever followed was a...not a koalafant
I dont have an igloo I searched the entire world I think it glitched
Can you make ruins guide for beginers
