- This video shows you step by step how to power a mini aquarium pump using wireless charging technology. This is great for powering a waterfall or drip wall inside of your terrarium, paludarium, or vivarium - all without drilling glass. Hi, I had the same idea. I would suggest a couple of modification for anyone who's going to give go:
1. Waterproofing the circuit board by coating it in a thick layer of clear acrylic nail polish, hot glue wont work and the components will rush very fast. You might be able to pour the nail polish into the sleeve it comes in, but do that AFTER you have connected the pump and tested it above water.
2. 5v is important but you should look for a wireless charger and receiver with the highest Amp rating, for example the one you used is 1000mA, I would not recommend anything less. This will determine how powerful the pump will be when its on and how high it can pump the water (simplified).
And for those people worried about water and electricity, I wouldn't worry. It's such a small amount that it wont hurt the fish if it short circuits, it will probably just stop working.

Great info, thanks and subbed!! I am new to terrariums and palladiums and just starting to gather the more technical types of info. I have been looking at wireless pumps also as I hate the look of the cords. Will need to check out more of your vids for information but what has gotten me to comment is the last part of your video. The water boils. I am from Florida and we have these in many of our springs. They are in all springs and spring fed lakes but sometimes they are not as evident as in the sand bottom springs. They are also a hoot to stand in;) I had hoped to use this idea as my first, "only one like this" palladium. You are the first I have seen make mention of it and I am sad now. I can only hope to make mine super viral! Just kidding, I've not put together one build yet so it will be sometime before I can do a proper Florida Spring Run & Boil. I am gathering material and growing plants I will use. Please feel free to share any wireless setups that are ready "out of the box", I am not very tech savvy. And if I can ever do anything to return the favor please ask.

Thanks Terry! Unfortunately I haven't seen anything like this available out of the box. Would love to see your attempt at recreating these underwater springs in an aquarium! I think I saw one video from a biotope aquarium competition that had something like this, but can't find it now. I certainly haven't found any tutorials on it.
That‘s the kind of tinkering, I kinda get behind! I know, you‘re trying for a paludarium… it would be interesting to know though, if the magnetic field has a negative effect on any aquatic wildlife..?
amazing idea - better mail your self a copy of the design as a poor mans' patent. Or file a copyright, before the "big guys" make money off your idea.
Is the water safe for small animals this way? (Sorry if my question is stupid.)
Good question! I have no reason to believe that it would be hazardous to animals. It certainly does not electrify the water or anything like that. Rather, It transmits power via magnetic fields, which I don't expect would have any effect on most life forms. Motors (used in all submersible pumps) also generate magnetic fields to create rotation, and im not aware of this having any adverse effect.

Do you still need to keep it on the charger to work?
Im also trying to find wireless water pump that I can charge for a while and then it works for several hours like the one in Uahpet wireless water fountain
This one does not have a battery of any kind - it has to stay on the charger to work.

How did you know which wire to sodder to
In this case Red->VCC and Black->GND. But the colors of the wires on your pump and how the terminals of the wireless reciever are labeled will vary. There should be some label or coloring, and you can Google which is positive and which is ground.
