You and your son is a version of me and my Mom when I was young. He will always remember and take these trainings with him and become a greater You ! Thank you for your valuable time and training 😃
Liked this one. Had not actually watched how a person cleans stairwells & landings, demonstrated. Now, I see how to do and can do it like that every time. You showed me it's a lot easier than I expected. And no, not saying the work is easy because I know its not. Also like the one about flat mopping. I was navy, we got taught to spin the mop heads out. The heck with that, I'm flat mopping from now on.
Thanks for your videos brother. I just started to work on a university in New Jersey as custodial. Trying to learn some tricks to be easy for me but work good for a nice clean up. Gracias
I'm the Head Custodian at night at Roosevelt High School in Yonkers NY. I watched your video and found it very informative. I do have my crew mop their stairwells from top to bottom once a week but they do it differently. I have them mop the entire stairwell with soap and water with out wringing out the mop. (Not soaking wet like you do with floor stripper) This helps the solution work on the dirt and help loosen up the soils especially in the corners and the edges. Then I have them change the water and mop up the solution thats on the stairs. After each flight, the water looks like they changed the oil in a car and emptied it into the bucket. So after each flight, they change their mop bucket water. Is this time consuming? Yes. But they only do this once a week and spot mop them daily. I have them do this on their "off days" when it's not their turn to burnish their hallways. I believe the stairwells are just as important as your hallways. They don't shine as bright but they accumulate a lot of dirt especially since they lead to the outside. A cleaner staircase equals a cleaner hallway which equals cleaner classrooms. This is most definitely worth it and I encourage you to give it a try. I'd love to hear your feedback on it. Thanks!
We never put stripper in our stairwells. We did that on time. Never again!! We do mop them when we can. We are all day custodians. So holidays when we work is really the only time. We really get to mop them right. We have to spot mop them dry them during the day. Can be some what of a pain at times.
I like your way of cleaning them. They have us use a backpack vacuum and a mop bucket but I'm going to switch to your method. Thank you for making these videos
@@mrjeffthecustodian I subbed at a school a few weeks ago and the sign on the head custodians door said "Mr. Jeff" so I walked in to your office, said "Hey it's Mr. Jeff the Custodian!! I love your videos!!" He laughed and said that's another Jeff lol. He watched your channel too lol. It's a small world!
I love the collage. I miss the people at the elementary school. Not the job! I am alone all day at the collage. Don’t get to talk to folks much. That part is the downside.
Thanks for the video. I like to clean stairwells just like you. And we have the same problem with custodians being lazy and half way doing their jobs. Merry Christmas!
Loving your videos so far, this is one of the positions I'm doing research on for job security like you mentioned in your video three months ago. I just applied to be a bus driver, and this seems like it would be a better fit if I get a patient trainer.
From first hand experience I had much rather be a custodian. I have never been a bus driver. What I have done a few years in a roll for extra money. Is ride a school as and aid the first two weeks of school. To help out with kindergarten thru 4th grade. I was like this crazy. I told the bus driver. This is not my cup of tea. As a custodian if you have a good trusting administrator’s and you do your job. Your pretty much left alone. Which is the biggest plus about my job.
Yes we wiped down stuff all the time. I have a backpack vacuum at the collage I work at. Has no power. So I use a cordless up right. I have extra batteries.
@@mrjeffthecustodianno power? Does your college use a bissell backpack? I know those aren’t the best recommended, for me I’m personally a fan of ProTeam
On the top above the stair well I noticed you push your dust mop straight I head as opposed to a figure 8 method. Is there a reason to NOT use a figure 8 method?
I clean up after women, I train them to be clean by cleaning so well, they feel bad about when they mess things up. I must say its a challenge. As far as Raymond is conserned that lazy bugger needs to be talked to, and scared straight lol....I feel your pain
Is the case is that case beautiful job? Thank you. Appreciate so much Jeffrey.❤👍

Yes. We still work together at home in the wood shop. Had all 3 of my kids out there this weekend.
Thanks, I just got a job as an estate caretaker and your videos have helped lots!
That’s the reason I do the vids. Thanks!!!!
Your videos are very helpful for me and my warehouse sanitation team. Thank you for what your doing. Will definitely comment and share
Thanks for your kind words.

I mop mine from bottom to the top because otherwise the footprints stick out.
Love your videos dude I'm a custodian at rockwall isd in Texas.. I clean just like you and I get good compliments from my manager and teachers
Thank you very much! Yes when folk compliment our work it makes a person feel good.
Dad always told me do the job right the first time you don't have to go over it again and never do a half ass job like Raymond lol
Sounds just like my dad.

When I worked in a high school I had 5 stairwells to sweep and mop over three floors
That’s a lot of steps.
I have stairs to clean which get more dirty cause it’s a middle school but I don’t sweep up the dirt I just keep moving it down
It all boils down to personal preference.
Do you disinfect the hand railing also does your school have a back pack vacuums there great

I don’t use back pack.
Way to go Raymond
Lol

No reason just my method. At times I do figure 8.
@@mrjeffthecustodian ok thanks. I wasn’t saying it was bad. I just thought maybe it was a better way of doing it or something.
Lol I think most of mine is my mood that day on how I do anything.
It is called flex wand duster
Do you have any “Raymond’s” at your new job? Like some coworkers who are so hung up on chemical stripping and old school?
Luckily no one is hung up on chemical stripping.
Raymond close to retirement is he?
Never know about the old boy. If I could every get him on vid. I would ask him.
@@mrjeffthecustodian lol!

Oh Raymond just don’t see the point sometimes. Woman clean different than men. That’s just the way we roll.
who is shooting the video? This guy is a security hazard.
My son he was like 9 then.
Is not a "thingamajig".....it is a Whoodah amuh Callit"
Just do it with vacuum instead of sweeping.
I do now at the collage. They got me a really nice back pack system. Love it!!
Most of My stairwells at school are carpeted...
I can’t imagine with having lunch in class rooms. 3rd and 4th grader. Caring open plates. We have spills daily.
Cleaning stairwells suck!
I know mine we be waiting on me at 8:00 in the morning. :(
Don't think Raymond likes it either.
You bet he don’t.
The cameraman needs to be more steady. Bout made me sick with all the movement.
My son was 8 at the time. He was running the camera. Glad you enjoyed the ride.
