I make a point of saying this is dangerous and no one should attempt this at home, but.... I have a horse who rears when anxious. He came to me with these issues and that is why he's still with me, and will be with me until the end. With that said, I have found success by assigning a command to his rearing. He is, thankfully, very clever and picked up on this pretty quickly. (It should also be said that he has both self preservation and fitness, and does not rear high enough to fall over himself.) Now, because I can ask him to rear and it has become a chore, he doesn't offer to rear anymore. Your training technique, where you "help them go up," is spot on. Making it a less comfortable chore, instead of an escape from pressure, does wonders to discourage the behavior. Well done.

His cute little ears flopping with rhythmic pressure 💗

The ears flattening and pricking while you were doing that rhythmic 'ask' for him to drop his head was adorable lol

I found it so funny, hwn he was waving the stick up and down above the horse's head to make him lover it, and instead Huck just moved his ears up and down in the same rythm

I like this, I live in NZ and have a massive grey mare who has started rearing..makes sense with the head down..when their head is low so is the adrenalin..

I love his name! When I was a little girl we had a husky/malamute named Huckleberry Finn, Huck for short😁

Nice Ryan. I am now working with Michele Bell and she is helping me with these kinds of exercises. My Morgan use to rear up. He still gets confused but this should help a lot.

My Arabian won’t stop prancing and rearing on a trail ride. And when we’re just riding. I don’t have a round pen or arena. He’s down threw me into bushes and has gotten away from me on trail rides rears on me all the time and I’ve tried everything. And I’ve tried to pop him before and he hates it and takes off. Do you have any advise!?
