Battery depletion is almost _always_ why these things will attempt to land themselves. The batteries contain multiple cells for different parts of the drone and they must ALL be functioning. I know DJI has tools for analyzing battery health but I don't know how effective they are. My only advice would be to swap out all of your batteries when you start to experience symptoms such as short-range and self-landing.

Like everyone else said, the drone footage is priceless! The camera pointed at you, your vane attempt to get to it before it goes under! Yes you couldn’t have planned a better screen. The music was perfect!

Just be aware that memory foam mattresses tend to sleep hot so you may want to use a lighter blanket. Otherwise, I LOVE mine.

Sorry for the loss of the drone. I’ve seen others lose theirs and they couldn’t retrieve them. I really like the drone footage and those night time ones you have shared. Is it awful that I find the final video of the drone hilarious? I wouldn't wish on anybody that they lose an expensive piece of equipment that way, but the video is quite funny. And great choice of music, too.

Bought myself a drone in preps for my travels but in Canada they imposed a law needing a license to fly anywhere. SO.... I got a van, made a video and now it’s time to start building the interior!! Will get a drone license in between all that too, but at least I know it won’t be going swimming anytime soon. 😂😂

Dang in the cold water too! sorry about losing the drone. Good catch on the video from the RV. We have the 4 pro and hope it lasts us as long. The mavics seem pretty cool. We just signed the listing agreement on our ranch we will see how fast our place sells. Then forward march into our next journey. I don't think you realize how much beauty we see when you see it and share it! Can't wait to get out there and experience it all.

It IS vacuum packed.....We just bought one from Ashley Furniture and we love it!! Not that same kind, but still a mattress in a box...LOL.....🛌 ❤
WOW Eric, Sorry to hear about your drone, I'm glad that at least you were able to find it.
Hopefully DJI will send you a new one since I'm guessing that many people have bought DJI drones due to your drone footage on your channel.

Being from Florida I am used to electronics getting wet...unexpected rain storms, falling in pools, over the side of the boat, etc. You will be amazed how many devices I have survived by disconnecting the batteries and let them dry out for a week and then try them again. Even survived a Nokia phone back in the day that was completely submerged for 5 minutes in a pool..... put it in a large plastic container with a small canister of Damp Rid........back in action after a week of drying out. Sometimes devices are just done when they get wet, but I have saved a few. I would try drying out the drone and see....if just for the fun of it. Does sound like a new drone is in your future though..I mean taking good video is your business! Enjoyed the episode!

Thanks, I love the Twisp area, Methow Valley, I did drive through during that bad fire, it was awful. I was going to Republic and could see it from my Mom's mountain home. It was really scary, and the animals were coming into Winthrop when we drove through. Thanks for sharing the beauty that is still there. Travel safe, have fun with tribe in Kitsap County.

Just a heads up on foam mattresses. Most of them seem to have loose fiberglass inside the "removeable" cover. My guess is that the fiberglass is used to make the cover slip over the foam. Contact the manufacturer to find out. You don't want that ALL over your rig.

That is a beautiful place you camped in this one.
I lost my DJI Spark in a similar place, in South Korea this past April. A beautiful mountainous bend-in-the-river location, and I was filming a dramatic rising back-away shot of a museum temple complex. I backed the Spark right into a near vertical mountain, in an inaccessible location about 500 feet up on the other side of a deep, cold, and fast flowing river. The cached video footage of the day’s filming was a bittersweet coda.

I'm not sure of your particular back issue but I've had disc and even back bone issues since 1994 and have had three surgeries and learned very early the technique for reliving (particularly lower) back pain and sciatica is to create 'traction'. I noticed you had a sort of recliner folded up next to your new bed. The the RV have a bigger one? If you have something like an exercise "Swiss" ball or even a big bunch of pillows and rest your calves on the Ball/Pillows placed on the leg rest when reclined, it's a great form of traction ... eventually, you can put a small pillow under the location of you back trouble ... make sure it's small. 10 years ago I was on two canes and being measured for a Scooter Buddy and today (with about two hours of traction under my belt a day), I can walk and lead a pretty normal life. I'm MUCH older than you so you jumping on this early will help. I eventually substituted the round Swiss ball with one shaped like lozenge ... kinder on the knees. GOOD LUCK -GF-

Hi Eric, I had a back problem on my lower left hip for about eight years. Then I had a Fire and everything burned up. Bed included.And my girlfriend gave me a comforter to sleep on. I rolled it into thirds. And the amazing thing was my back problem on my lower left hip area went away. I think it was the hard surface. I sleep on a mat now instead of a mattress the mat is about maybe 2 in thick. I found it in a thrift store and I think it is a foam exercise mat. Anyway just thought I'd let you know. I know back problems are problem. I hate them.

Hi Eric from the UK, I've also got a back problem, a few years ago I bought a mattress, similar to your lull mattress, came through the post and was vacuumed packed, best thing I ever did for my back.

So sorry about your drone - but it was telling you that it was on it's last leg (blade)! I am surprised you fished it out - considering how swift that water was!
This video was a run of emotions. So sad your drone died but worried and laughing when you fell in the river. Hope the mattress stopped hissing lol and gave you a comfy nights sleep. Jax approved. Beautiful time lapse.
Perhaps you can use the camera off it for something... maybe mount it to the camper or something! And... Hay! You got great use out of it and it served its purpose!
