    If the TRD Offroad was wearing hiking boots and a canvas tactical pack, then the TRD sport is in a color matching sweat suit ready to run the track.
    Today we talk about one of the 3 roads you can take in the TRD world of Tacoma!
    I have about 200-300 miles of TRD sport drive time myself. They handle tight. The color matching it sharp. And that hood scoop! Y’all offroad guys like me can’t lie, we wanna swap the hood out!
    Either way, the sport sells a ton, and for good reason. It’s smooth and sexy. I hope you enjoy this video and share it with someone who might like or benefit from it!
    ***Fast button overview starts at 12:54
    ⚠️CAUTION! Cutting the hood scoop to become functional may void your warranty. This would allow water directly into your engine bay. Stock hood scoops typically have an air route that protects your intake and engine from water!

    I had the 2019 TRD Sport and traded the other day for the 2022 TRD Sport. I can tell a huge difference between the 2022 and 2019. The 22 rides much better. I’ll never buy anything other than a Toyota........hands down the #1 truck no doubt about it!

    I liked you video. The only feature you forgot was the button for the outside mirror defrosters. Also you can lift up the rear headrest slightly and tilt them 45 degrees forward so they don’t restrict your view out the rear window. I personally own a 2021 TRD Sport with the LED and Technology Packages. I also opted for the blackout package on the exterior. It really looks good on my Army Green exterior color. I got the protection package as well which includes front and rear mud guards. I got the TRD Sport because I mainly drive on paved, dirt, or graveled roads. I take my E bikes on a rear rack that mounts in the trailer hitch and use these to traverse difficult terrain areas. I live in Wyoming where my Tacoma does it’s best on snowy, slippery roads. The hood scoop really adds to the amazing look of this truck. Thank you for showing everyone how to make it functional. Great videos, keep them coming please.

    To answer your question at the end, I've just put in a deposit to lock down a Sport that's getting delivered at the end of the year. The decider for me on going with the Sport over the Off-road was I'm an at-home dad who does custom woodworking on the side. So I needed a daily driver which could also manage full sheets of plywood from time to time, I would have loved to have gotten a 6ft bed double cab but that would have been just a hair longer than my garage is deep (time to get a new house I think).
    I could have a lot of fun with an Off-road but I went into getting my Taco knowing what it's use case was going to be.

      @@brianruperti As far as the state and any needed sale tax collection is concered I started in 2019. I initially focused on educational pieces for preschools and day cares. So I made things like Pikler Triangles (gross motor skills, spatial awareness), Waldorf Play Stands (imaginative and emergent play), sewing boards (fine motor skills), so a lot of Montessori or Waldorf style pieces.
      Then the pandemic hit... and that type of work dried up, and I pivoted to more general but custom pieces, everything from desks, bookshelves, up to cupboard/cabinets and vanities. Generally work closely with a customer to design and create their ideas.

    No regrets on my sport long bed. Definitely to me, it rides very nice. I do have the premium tech pack, dual air was a must in 2020 when I bought my truck, so I got the extra goodies. I do pull a pop-up, but my quad does all the crazy stuff. I'm getting ready to put some new tires to get to the places I want to ride or camp. I was thinking Michelin LTX AT2 or Bridgestone Revo 3. Curious what you would recommend, I don't want to change the ride, and definitely no noise. Very detailed vid, makes me want to go for a ride! I also really like the custom seats. Not sure if you knew the back head rest tilt down, you don't have to take them off for a better view. Dude respect, you tapped your feet before you got in! Well done 👍

      I have had them for 5 years and tires have worn great, still have plenty of life and I don’t need two sets of tires for winter and 3 other seasons. They are the smoothest AT tires I have had on a vehicle. I can do 90 miles an hour in my 4 runner and vehicle is glued to ground. Have a 21 TRD Sport Access cab manual. Love the way the truck drives, and the seats are comfortable. It’s a great tow vehicle for my 20’ boat. Just a few gripes, I’m 6’1” and it is difficult to get in without banging my head, even with the power seat all the way down. Also the rear seat belt buckles bang on the cheap plastic panels resulting in clunking noises when cornering and stopping, very annoying. Took me awhile to figure where the clunks were coming from. Got seat belt pads and put them over the buckles.

    • @BengalTiger22
      @BengalTiger22 2 роки тому +1

      Honestly, there is little to no water drainage. That said though, there is little to no benefit to chopping the hood scoop anyways. Aerodynamics of the truck make the scoop section a dead zone as it is. Meaning, there is little to no airflow on that section of the hood, so there wouldn't even be any air getting to it. The only real benefit to chopping it would be to have it as a heat vent for the engine, as a place to have the air escape. Some offroaders do this so they can keep the hood closed and there is still a place for the heat to vent.

    • @brianruperti
      @brianruperti  2 роки тому +1

      Yes I agree. It’s very sharp. The wind deflector on the bottom? It doesn’t take away much ground clearance actually due to the angle. I would only remove it if you offroad. Wind deflector! Thats it.. wasn’t sure of the exact term for it. Would not be doing much off roading but I am big on having generous ground clearance. Nice to know its an easy removal. Im assuming its purpose is a little added mpg??? And was really waiting for supply to go up as the new 2022 come in to avoid some of the dealer mark up that has been going on due to the pandemic.

      @brianruperti  2 роки тому +1

      @@luker5865 I agree about ground clearance. I would see how far you can get away with it before considering removal. From my understanding it’s to help with wind buffeting. Aerodynamics (as if it matters on a truck lol). Some dealers are not marking up. Do your shopping! MSRP isn’t so bad. 3-10k over is crazy imho. But shop around if you’re willing to pay msrp. Locking rear differential so it's like all wheel drive?

    • @brianruperti
      @brianruperti  2 роки тому +4

      It does not have the locking rear diff. So it’s just 4WD. Still great! But the locking rear diff comes in handy when doing off-roading that includes uneven terrain like mogul, as well as rock crawling.
      For snow, mud, and basic trails, the sport does amazing. The offroad just has the edge for the more intermediate rock crawling stuff. Hope it helps!

    Great vid. Would the Sport model be comfortable for people over 6 feet? I really like the look of the truck but I'm 6'3" so not sure if it's the right size for me.

    • @brianruperti
      @brianruperti  2 роки тому

      Thank you! I’ve had a few above 6 foot guys get Tacomas. They key is seat adjustment versus expectations. Yes it’s possibly to like it, but that’s contingent on what it takes to make you comfortable. I highly suggest stopping by your local Toyota store and sitting in one for 10 minutes maybe even 20 while you relax on UA-cam to see how it feels on the average drive.

      @@brianruperti Thanks bro! I'll definitely sit in one to see if it's comfortable for me. I usually drive in a slouched position so I don't think headroom will be an issue. I also want to check out a new 4runner.

    • @brianruperti

      Only if you have the audio plus or audio premium in the truck. Audio plus is 3 years from the fob, audio premium is 10 years from the fob.
