- In our latest guide to how an F1 car works, Giorgio Piola and Jake Boxall-Legge explain the design trends teams pursue in sidepod design, and the reasons behind them. They also look at how teams work around a key part of the car's safety structure, which is mandatory in the rules.

I would love a more detailed, longer and more historical version.
I've watched a lot of "F1 how to" videos and there is (I think) a gap for a proper full nerd breakdown of the sports tech.
Exactly! Although the teams don't like showing their work publicly, I'd be so happy to see an in depth review of even a 2014 engine/gearbox/cooling system etcetera up close. We never see this stuff and I think all of us watching the video want that. Steve Matchett used to show stuff like drawers full of different gear ratios for the transmissions and brake disks that he would hold and it was so interesting. They all act like we're morons.
Chain bear f1.
@@el_muncho_jr8498, I want deeper than chain bear.
I want late 70's early 80's deep but deeper.
Horizon and Equinox are a starting point.
Mercedes in 2022: I'm gonna do what's called a pro gamer move.
i also came to check it out, on why they did that.
10th, I guess.. Make these videos bigger, longer and uncut. We need deep dives, if we are following a motor sports channel huge chance we already got the basics ;)
I thought you were gonna go into more detail about how f1 cars have different design philosophies when it comes to the side pods and how the results differ.
COL COL rather than it being about what the title stated? That’s odd
No why would they do that. They're hammy boys after all
Haha you expect to much from youtube.
How an F1 Car Works' simple and useful explanations, supported by The Specialists.Very Good.
Maybe a more deeply ones will be Highly Appreciated in the near future. Thank You.
Useful video for Williams
Great video! Lookin forward to more
Mercedez 2022: What sidepod?.
You're improving Autosport 👍
This video could be 3-4 times longer with more detail & comparisons of cars by year or manufacturer or design philosophy.
Still I like where you're heading and Georgio gives you decent credibility. Thanks.
I am here after watching W13
Can we get one on what the engine does?
Lol this aged well. “Sidepods”, ancient relic
Do you even read the comments? If you're watching Autosport videos, you're an avid F1 fan. We hear this generic nonsense on every single TV broadcast. We want to know about why certain teams design them in the way they do or how they're made to find the perfect balance of cooling/drag reduction, but at a much more detailed way. You have one of the best technical analysts/graphic designers in the world in these videos. GP is plenty capable of making interesting content, but you're dumbing it down. Stop acting like we're idiots like the general TV broadcasts do. We are capable and want to understand this at a much more technical level.
@Autosport make a video on driving styles .
Not as much gesticulation this time, nice
If Kimi explained... bwoar they house the rads... cue credits
"Bwoah... I dont know, they cool the car I think..." *bored look
They brought Giorgio Piola so people stop bitching in the comments that JBL says basic things in his descriptions. So people will go "ooooooooh" when Giorgio talks and soon JBL appears they´ll go "buuuuuuuh".
But the video could be longer and bit more in-depth, it´s a bit... Short.
God damn it I love when Piola speaks about technology in an F1 car.
I didn't know what this was for so long. what they said about mercedes🤣🤣🤣🤣😭😭
Only alonso cannot make the sidepods to work properly.
When will we see nuclear powered f1 cars?
Second
Third
Yerrrrr...this is the same channel/magazine including this guy talking that said Ferrari are the clear winners this season they are the fastest...they based all this on pre-season testing times!!...honestly get someone in who knows what they are talking about, I have followed Formula One for 42 years, get someone with experience on the channel!...anyone that knows F1 knows Mercedes were sandbagging in testing, you don't win 5 titles in a row from showing your hand early in testing!...please Autosport get someone who knows what they are talking about!...a real fan maybe.
But if Ferrari is not fast... Why were they so fast in Bahrain? Why was Mercedes so outclassed there in their super-winning-car-that-was-totally-sandbagging?
First
It's been 7 hours and it has 16 comments. Very impressive accomplishment. We're all very proud of you.
why do you have a video explaining very technical information narrated by a guy with such a thick accent that you can’t understand the words he’s saying, let alone the concepts lol
