After two years, what amazed me is that Sam’s video about F1 logistics is still better than pretty much any video on youtube about F1 logistics.
Yes, better than what F1 officially made.

You should do one on the logistics of a concert tour. Most people have no idea that the average arena concert is built starting at 6am day of show and will be out the door by 1am, just hours after the last song. It's an incredible ballet of trucking, rigging, logistics, catering, buses, staffing, advance work, and of course, a few hours for the show itself. It's an incredible world!
For the bigger concerts, where you have a "wider stage" or effects, there is also the pre-day assembly. Basically, everything gets build from ground zero.
That gives more time for accurate checks, considering many elements are up in the aire, and safety on stage and around is important.
The "magic" happens after the last song, as you said. It takes less than 5 hours to take down everything and pack it directly in the tens of lorries queuing.
The work is at faster step, but T-Shirts codes are used for teams, in order to make the job run smooth. Every team (lights, ground cables, sound etc.) has a coloured t-shirt designated, and that worker sticks only to that colour.
The team leaders normally have black or grey t-shirt, and they coordonate exclusively the prople with their assigned colour (for me was blue on sound, for example). Normally, yellow gets ground and trucks, easier for them to be visible in the night...
So, whenever a concert finishes, and you are still singing in the crowd... when the stage gets stormed by staff in all coloured t-shirt is not for the party purposes. Every one wears a colour that fits him/her the job for the next hours 😉
logistics for a concert? All within a few hours afterlast song?

@@FeelMyBirdie I mean it does to a certain degree, its not like the teams get paid through prize money. But if you were petronus would you rather give your money to a successful team or a failing team?
@array s times change. F1 has shifted in the direction of engineering and huge budgets. Gone are the days where small teams can make it at the top, mercedes swallows them up.

Ubisoft should start taking notes from Rockstar on how to make a proper game.

Crew 2 isn't that bad. Still needs more cars though.
We were lucky to go to Monaco during race week.
I went down to pit lane and was allowed to walk down and talk to some of the teams. The garages were empty, so went back to hotel and then went back the next morning and it was completely built and only thing they were doing was connecting the pit wall with comms cabling.

Awesome to see a Formula 1 video but all your content is god like anyways

And then there is the night race in Singapore....
21 races worldwide - in Elroy? Most people know this as Austin, Texas.

Usually a sponsor is mentioned at the beginning as common practice so people know they're being influenced. But I was surprized there even was a sponsor because the quality was outstanding. I have no interest in Formula 1 whatsoever but this was just incredibly interesting.
Zodayn same
but it WAS mentioned at the start. Agreed though, quality, as usual, was outstanding.
this is how you sponsor the channel 'extra credits' does the same thing with sponsors, i think they may have even started the idea of sponsoring channels with a hands off approach as long as the content pertains to the product of the sponsor
Zodayn Lmao recently F1 really didn’t bring anything to give me interest in it. Touring cars, nascar and even drifting are much more interesting than f1

Thanks so much for making this video. I've always been curious as to how some teams can have such massive structures, basically buildings, in the paddock. To find out they're motor homes and can be built in two days is mind-boggling.
Great video. You should do more of these. I love this channel and the normal topics, but these are like a little bonus. You could do a whole series on logistics for different sports, concert tours, events, conventions, and more. It would also be interesting to see a series on how certain industries actually operate or have evolved, like: mining, farming, forrestry, conservation, education, and various public services.

I thought the logistics for NASCAR was hard, I now have a greater appreciation for Formula 1.
NASCAR only operate in one country, F1 the whole world.
@@barryfowles-zl5ib America is still massive. If F1 didn't have locations like China and Australia, most of the races wouldn't be that far and the 1000 miles from Austria to England easily fits in a few states.
@@ALittleMessi So Brazil, Singapore, Japan, Azerbaijan, Canada, Vietnam, Mexico, andAbu Dhabi are just local then? Also, as so many Americans tend to do, believe that it's just about distance when transporting the teams to the different countries, things like customs at borders and local laws have to be factored into the equation, To drive from say, New York to California is a long distance, but you don't have to clear customs entering every State.

i always wonder how this logistics are done, thank you very much for this video!
Omg, thank you! Such a shame that not a lot of people know or care about F1 even though it is the single greatest motorsport ever!
It would be if it wasn't just 6 GP1 cars vs a bunch of slow ass GP2 cars.
Last weekend was the absolute proof that no B-team has even the slightest chance of taking on a duel with Mercedes, Ferrari or Red Bull.
Dropping to practically last place and ending up 2nd.. sure, driver skill has something to do with it... but people just move over once they see the 44 in the rear view mirror..
Calyx Not their fault if they won titles and have had healthy business strategies. Plus, teams like Haas are small bc they're new. If they manage to win more and get a stronger fanbase they'll get more sponsors, and eventually more resources. It's all about resilience...
Yeezy Yeezy For me WEC and Blancpain are better.
Yeezy Yeezy
You're forgetting the fact that both Ferrari and Mercedes AMG benefit greatly from their F1 research considering they can use it in their street legal high performance cars. Smaller teams put all their money in to the sport with no additional value. Add to the fact that both teams (Red Bull being the only exception on the whole grid) also have decades of experience building race cars and seemingly the cream of the crop when it comes to talent its slowly becoming a 3 team sport and kind of has been for the last few years. Fanbase has very little to do with it.
Put Alonso in an LMP1 and he gets first place at Le Mans. Put him in a shitty McLaren Honda F1 car and he struggles to get a top 10 position let alone finish a race..
Calyx Did not forget, my friend, just didn't want a huge answer. But you're not wrong, great comment! I don't know what happened to McLaren tho, maybe they got used to 3rd-party engines and don't wanna waste R&D in developing their own, which I think they should. I mean, if they got it right they can supply other teams and double the revenue, plus stimulate more competitiveness. Idk I'm just a guy with a phone that likes the sport lmao wth do I know...
Man I saw this video and my face just lit up like “yes”.
It always amazes me how I always find the subject lame when I read the title but I find the video absolutely incredible.
This is a dream. I love it. Used to do similar stuff but not at this intensity. Very cool. I'd love to work on one of those teams.
This was unexpected, but in a good way. You should consider doing a video talking about the classic car market and/or Le Mans.
Wait Discord is worth a billion dollars?
Reksrat I use Discord and I’m not even sure what you pay for.
You can buy the premium that lets you use an animated profile picture and post unique emojis from your various servers to any other server. I think that's about it.
Limestone Butter adds
Discord is *valued* at roughly $1.65 billion. That is, in a recent round of funding, the company raised $50 million in exchange for a certain percentage of ownership (I estimate 3%). If this price-per-percentage were extended to the whole 100% of the company, it would cost $1.65 billion to purchase Discord.
But Discord itself doesn't have $1.65 billion. It's a market value.
SuperAngryPacman That makes sense. When Wendover said that Discord was valued at a billion dollars I was immediately confused.
