I’m only 35 but my dad who is 77 talks about John Robertson as one of the greatest the game has ever seen. Unfortunately, I never got to see him. My dad said, when he was at Forest and part of that great team he was the best in the WORLD at that time. My dads a bit old school but he reckons if he was playing today he would be worth billions in today’s market. He must have been some player.
I was so lucky to grow up watching this team and when i saw Robbo run out,i knew we would win,always had time for supporters as well,great man and will always be a legend,there should really be a statue of him outside the Gorund.

Time and time again you'd see him draw two players in, beat them both, then pop a vital cross or pass in. It was like having an extra man on the pitch when he was in the team. Absolutely priceless.

Like one our old players said from 78 to 80 if he had played for real Madrid he'd gone down as the best player in the world . But cause it was only nottingham forest he didn't get the reconcicion he deserved
His technique of misdirection back then was quite unique and beautiful to watch. It turned out that it's similar to what many modern players have been doing it only with more speed and more crossover. I'd love to see them bring back the jersey design with the logos of the tree on the left and the antlers on the right (the season they got promoted). It was very classic.
Robbo was the best player I’ve ever seen in a Forest shirt. My only regret is, footage was so rare in those days, and some of his best stuff will never be seen again. So many fantastic memories.

17 minutes and not a camera angle that made him my favourite watching english football every saturday (as most scandinavians interested in sports did back then) - He should be on the same side as the camera, kinda filming him from behind, advancing slowly, with the same foot lazily lagging behind him towards the opponent, then bib bop boom he was past the guy and delivered the pass. He was my favourite dribbler of all times, no latino showoff but a working class kinda cool dribbler.

I once saw him nutmeg two players in a row. The fans laughing and cheering. At his peak the opposition had three players on him.
The defenders could not defend against him- in this video not one meaningful tackle went in against him- class act
