Imagine living in the shadow of the greatest manager to have never managed England, and perhaps the greatest manager of all time. As a striker, his dad too was in another universe, and yet Nigel succeeded where most would fail. He remains one of the most loyal employees and nicest blokes you would ever meet. Great interview! As a Chelsea fan, I can say without hesitation... Up the Forest!!!
It's a tribute to the Clough family that despite the fame of his father Nigel Clough was so well brought up and grew into a very good player and, more importantly, top bloke. I'm not a Forest fan, but I always liked the cut of Nigel Clough's jib.
you all prolly dont give a damn but does anybody know of a way to get back into an instagram account? I somehow forgot my account password. I appreciate any help you can offer me
@Kaleb Brysen thanks for your reply. I got to the site through google and im trying it out atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I managed to get a management roll in a local company, on my first week I was invited into the directors office ,to meet a sleeping partner of the company, who should be sitting there but nige .After cups of tea and a chat ,he signed a footbal for my son....what a cracking bloke
Met him the other day in Ipswich,he's such a lovely man, going to the Pirelli this week for a tour and he told me he will be there to meet me and my kids. Can't wait! ☺
I love these "My Forest Story". And I'm a Man United fan. Great production. I met Nigel at Oldham vs Burton late 2019 and he told me how his Dad "liked that 4-0 win a lot" when his team destroyed us at Old Trafford in 77. "I remember that" We laughed. Lovely bloke.
What a cracking bloke. I had posters of him on my wall as a kid. A true Forest legend in my view and I'm happy he holds no malice towards us with how his dad was treated towards the end. Forest through and through and no Derby stint can ever break that.
Im a Sheffield Wednesday fan, and even though he has managed the blunts, I have so much respect for this man. Top player, top manager but most of all, a top bloke. Id have him at Hillsborough any day.👍
A truly wonderful player and manager,a very humble gentleman,I could listen to Nigel and Brian Clough all day everyday,God bless you both for bringing so much happiness and love into the world of football
Excellent player in his day and also possessed a very quick footballing brain, to make that killer pass to teammates. He and his brother Simon, are both gentlemen.
Whenever I happened to see Brian Clough appear on tv, I would always stop what I was doing to listen to him. What an incredible character. He certainly left his “mark” on all he met, and on those he didn’t meet.
Not a Forest fan but love these shows and for what its worth I still think that FA Cup final was one of the great injustices I have seen watching the game since the 1970s
I'm a LIverpool fan and I've always been impressed by Nigel Clough. I think he's a genuinely nice fella and it was a shame it didnt go a bit better for him at Anfield even though he was far from a failure. Its impossible for him to emulate his Dad but he deserves a place in the game as a manager. His Dad tought him well as a human being first and foremost.
Great to see this, and interesting to hear Nigel's view point on the FA cup final, and Roger Milford's appalling refereeing, and he's completely right. In trying to be the player's friend, he ruined Forest's cup final but more significantly, Paul Gascoigne's career. There are two referees I still despise even today, one is Roget Milford and the other is the ref in the Anderlecht game, who took a bribe.
so he stuck to his word, met me in the car park! went and got changed and came back out to have a chat ☺ he even brought lucas akins out to meet me. Seeing him again in 3 weeks ☺
This is a great interview, and a bit Ironic, 'cause I had just paused Sky sports news just when Mansfield were kicking penalties tonight, and didn't know Nigel was managing them, until I saw a comment below, and re-checked on google, amazing coincidence. Best of Luck Nigel and Mansfield Town.
I'm from Bristol , not really followed football for quite some time ! So just googled Nigel to see how he's doing , and I understand he's got promotion for Mansfield ! So delighted for him !
Very sad Peter and Brian had a falling out, Nigel's right the two of them should have been put in a room and left to sort their differences out! The lesson is never harbor a grudge because one day it might be too late to put right. Very sad!
a very very under-rated player.altho i still cant forgive him for his comment in match weekly saying his favourite drink was apple juice.nigels a great bloke
Nigel - Not all supporters wanted a clean sweep, some of us wanted to build around you. Liverpool were never going to build through you like Forest wanted to and your career suffered. Roger Milford? sorry I cannot print what I think of him as a football referee. I was there & Gazza was weird.
@@johnveitch7410 I doubt that personally. I think Milford cultivated an image as the "human" referee, smiled a lot during a game and so on and just bottled sending off the star player so early in the season's showpiece game ( as it was then).
I met him in Alestree park. Walking towards me with a golden retriever and a tennis racket. He even called me young man which I was over the moon with. It may not have been God but definitely Jesus.
Brian clough is being interviewed after a match at forest around 80-2 he's answering questions all of a sudden he turns round and shouts at the top of his voice "HEY CLEAR OFF " This is live on Grandstand, you think some fans are messing about in the stands but no its some players. The looks on those faces were of complete humiliation
Been forest since Incan remember Brian cllough and his son Nigel gave everything tongue club. Imremembernwriteing to Brian foreman autograph and sure enough ingot it imwas only9. He was a good father and a great manager o and uenwas human too
Don't beat yourself up that Brian never contacted Peter after the falling out , it happened , and it's a good lesson to all of us ! Life is too short !

Didn't Cloughie do somwthing similar when he handed Big Norm his debut, never said a word until the team sheet went, all the while, going away phoning Crossleys dad to let him know about it
Yhea. Favoured technique for first timers. No thinking time to wind yourself up in. Just gotta go and do it. No time for owt else. He did loads of stuff like that. He had big norm playing in a sunday league team the day after his debut. Imagine that, you've got dalglish, Barnes and Rush coming at you on the saturday and then you're playing amongst broken bottles and dog shit on the sunday.....just incase beating liverpool got you thinking like you were the man......bump, there you go son, thats what your back to if you ever lose your head over this big time stuff. Knew how to keep lads focussed and get their minds off the nerves and the big bollocks shit.
"Or maybe he was just thinking that he could not possibly send off a fellow superstar without ruining his reputation with 'the lads' that he was so desperate to be seen exchanging grins with. Mercifully, Roger Milford has now retired and will waggle his pencil no more. His inane grin no longer pollutes our game. Good riddance, you vain little twerp. And get your hair cut.".............from an article I just read...
Every Referee is useless, what they should do is have every ex player as a Referee , because ex players understand the Game, Referee's who have never Played the Game do not understand the Passion! ALL Refees are Bloody Useless! they should sack the lot of them!

@Kaleb Brysen it did the trick and I actually got access to my account again. Im so happy!
Thank you so much you saved my ass!
Everton fan here but I love this series. Excellent how the interviewer gets honesty and emotion from Clough, Francis and co. Quite moving.
Well said.
Massively underated player Nige.
I managed to get a management roll in a local company, on my first week I was invited into the directors office ,to meet a sleeping partner of the company, who should be sitting there but nige .After cups of tea and a chat ,he signed a footbal for my son....what a cracking bloke
Great bloke fantastic player in his day especially at Forest. How he's managing Mansfield Town is a joy to behold. His dad would be proud of him

Lovely bloke.
I remember him scoring against us at Old Trafford when we lost 3-2 in the 1985/86 season after we were leading 2-1 with 2 goals from Jesper Olsen.
What an absolute legend. A great player, I loved watching him play, A true gentleman.

I think he played for us on loan at hillsborough at one bit too

Whats a well rounded and articulate bloke Nigel is. Great to listen to.
A very underrated player. Excellent vision with his 50 yard slide rule diagonal passes. Thanks Nigel for the memories.
Nigel getting emotional at the end brought a tear to my eye.
The most honest I've ever seen him respect and love
Come home Nigel come back your father would want it!
Forest were a class team when I was a kid hope they get back in the premier league
Don't we all
Not a Forest fan but love these shows and for what its worth I still think that FA Cup final was one of the great injustices I have seen watching the game since the 1970s
Thanks again as a non forest supporter i enjoyed this. I suppose ive always admired both cloughs, what nigel did at burton was remarkable.

He has a place in the game at Mansfield thesedays mate and you're correct, he certainly is a great manager
Great player you and your dad did so much for the club
Blades fan here, could listen to nigel clough all day.
Thanks for everything Nigel, a player with the best vision on a football pitch.
Great guy, great video 👍
Brilliant... epitomises how excellent football can be, for me... as a sport.. honest and respectful. Have a look around today... if only!!
He was a great player for us.
How lovely to see players shake hands after scoring

One of my favourite players , I always thought he'd manage England one day ,but he's doing okay at Mansfield and seems happy , great bloke .
Thank you Nigel
The clough family will live with forest forever
Excellent interview and insight.well done
just discovered these - THEY ARE brilliant - many thanks - COYR!
still waiting for him to become our manager.

Also saw a recent photo of him and he looks in great shape !
Delighted for him !!
A nice guy and a credit to his dad
Son of God, I freakin love nigel, Gascoigne no comment
Very underated was nigel. My favourite player back in those days
Very sad Peter and Brian had a falling out, Nigel's right the two of them should have been put in a room and left to sort their differences out! The lesson is never harbor a grudge because one day it might be too late to put right. Very sad!
True legend & a top bloke
Nigel Clough, so much like his dad BRIAN👍👍👍
I live a long way from Nottingham but I manged to get tickets for the Millwall game it's a shame they lost but i will never forget the experience
Top man, great interview.
Total legend seems a great bloke too
Very Good Football Interview.
Love nigel. Great guy.
a very very under-rated player.altho i still cant forgive him for his comment in match weekly saying his favourite drink was apple juice.nigels a great bloke
Loved this interview. Almost forgiven him for managing Derby!!!

Exactly Mike !
Magnificent Footballer
I used to manage a young football team
Young man are a good
Man
Great player, loved the 80s football
Nigel
Hopefully one day you will come home
Great team Great manager and would be even greater today.

Spot on about 91 Cup Final
YES Nigel.❤
very underrated as a player
Fantastic
I saw Nigel's dad in 1980 when he came to roker park with Notts forest.
I ran around that lake every Sunday morning with my 2 dogs
Great Series/ I'm 4 years too late :)
these are brillant

8:28 what is the tune playing?
Nigel subconsciously persisted with the Cesar hair cut in attempt not to replicate his father’s quiff, thus avoiding the aesthetic comparison.
He's red he's white he's fuckin dynamite nigel clough ynwa 💥🚀
I remember popping my head in to the dugout when watching training, Nigel was sat next to his dad, I was only 13 Cloughy told me to clear off 😂😂
Top player Remember him at liverpool
What a top bloke
Born in sunderland his dad was in sland folk law nigal should have managed us after roy keane left also before grayson
He deserves a crack fact ..
How beautiful was that xxcoyr
Don't beat yourself up that Brian never contacted Peter after the falling out , it happened , and it's a good lesson to all of us !
Life is too short !
Big fan of Gascoigne, my favourite player still to this, but what on earth was he thinking. Those challenges, absolutely appalling.
hes right about Gazza
Clough was atop player,a thinking mans player.
He is a decent guy who is a bit more down to earth than Cloughie.
Next manager ???????
Must have been hard being Cloughys kid
The referee has basically he didn’t send him off as he favoured Gazza. Disgraceful
Come to your home town club ...Sunderland..
Love British football. Despise the brutality of the fans or gangs.
Vague memory. I was in England playing on s beach with some lads and they said I couldn’t play.
I tricked them. I grew up playing on the streets with my Portuguese friends.

I’ve adopted Forest as my team. My ancestry possibly started there. Go Forest
A hope you will get back as manger at forest
old small head
Good player for Forest but once he left there for Liverpool then Manchester City he couldn't rekindle the same form
lamouchi should watch this
why start this as a sob story and focus on relegation? He was a top top player for us and you start with that

Roger Milford was beyond a disgrace to football for not sending off Gascoigne. Totally shameful and completely unprofessional.
Spot on mate
Milford should have known Gazza's was hyper before the game even kicked off, he was obviously going to go crazy once the first whistle went
Those days it seemed like the FA Cup Final was given to refs almost like a retirement gift. Maybe a clock would be better.
