When devs saw dashless runs on youtube, instead of fixing it, they added a Golden Strawberry to fully embraced speedrun community. It's quite charming in it's own way

Farewell has a very special berry, if you go back on the last screen after breaking the power box (idk the name for those boxes). Can't be that bad right :p
Full clear: you gain a full clear time if you collect all the collectables aka red* berries, heart and cassette in 1 stage clear.
*Am 99% sure only red berries and no golden berries
Can confirm it’s just red berries. Thankfully too, because if it wasn’t, have fun getting double golden in 1A to get a time lmao
I'll definitely try to get the Farewell berry at some point. Once I build up some more confidence!

Remember to keep in mind, golden strawberries are EXTREMELY difficult and not expected to be completed by most players, except for mby the first few main lvls and all the C-sides (cuz they so short). Only a few ppl have ever gotten the golden strawb for Farewell, as u can probably understand why. Its tough as sheeeeet, so I rly wouldnt worry about getting any that youre rly struggling with
I've done 1b through 6b and each one (except 2b which was much easier) a few dozens hours

That's fair. I am rather stubborn though, so I'll just have to see what I'm able to accomplish. But I won't be throwing myself at them too soon and I'm definitely not anticipating getting the Farewell golden 😆

i suggest you do all the c sides before strawberry jam (dont worry about the goldens tho, they can get really hard)

Not sure exactly how I'll balance the SJ and the vanilla C sides but I imagine I might hop back and forth a bit as I build up my abilities. We'll see, we'll see

My current plan is to juggle two games and alternate between them week to week. Spiritfarer will give me a break from the demanding skills required by Celeste, and Celeste will give me a break when Spiritfarer inevitably breaks my heart! It's the perfect plan.

oh actually now that you mentioned it, i thought 1A was designed on purpose to be done dashless, but it wasn't. during development they noticed most of its screens were possible one way or another without dashes if you used the proper tech, so they changed some of the others' layouts so every single one would be possible ^u^
10:34 oh yeah cornerjump and spikejump both are valid names here, _cornerboost_ however is an entirely different tech involving dashing into the corner while holding grab, then jump immediately after to get horizontal momentum. i think it's often seen as an advanced tech since it's mostly used in hard modded maps (also as somebody who has been in the community for years, dw they frighten me too TwT)
oh btw cornerkicks are easier if you set up 2 buttons for jump (preferably one on top of the other, for example C and D) so you can switch your finger from one to the other instead of tapping it lightly then hold
21:43 OH that's the cooler way to do it actually >w< as in the ceiling right above that specific part is purposely there so it can automatically line you up for the spikejump. ignoring it all together is way cooler tho
yee that final screen is why neutraljumping is required for 1A dashless, the action of grabbing the traffic block proper tho it's really awkward since its barely reachable. with that said if you do plan on getting into modded Celeste regardless of the difficulty of the maps you play, i'd advice you to still practice neutraljumping as it is ridiculously useful
(oh also that final jump im _almost_ sure counts as a coyote jump, im not entirely sure. i think it's less of a technique and more of the game just generous, but it's basically whenever the game allows you to jump a few frames after you've left the ground)
oh that sensation of fear and suddenly being unable to remember how a room is supposed to be done is the classic golden experience TwT congrats again on 1A golden! ^u^ ^u^ (also yee the golden level card is the golden indication, can't blame you for not noticing since iirc i didn't either after my first golden)
also a big advice for any next golden btw: even if the level doesn't require it (referring to specific screens or sections of one) sometimes advanced tech you've learned before can be really useful, like the wavedashes taught in Farewell or the neutraljumps or the superdashes you performed also in Farewell. always try remembering everything you know about Celesting when you're playing ^u^ (also being careful when collecting Crystal Hearts since you can die even after breaking one before the screen properly freezes, if you do it won't actually count and you'd have to re-beat the screen)
39:59 oh,,, actually i have never paid attention to the stats in Celeste, so i don't really know, i think maybe that's just as in full clear of the game (?) i'm not sure ^u^
(oh oh also finally, little heads up for Strawberry Jam, it requires a _LOT_ of helpers for it to work, as well as downloading separately its OST so it can be kinda heavy, meaning could take a while to download it. i know when you get around playing it you're definitely going to love it since even its prologue introduction is absolutely magical ^u^)

So I actually have gotten SJ downloaded and noticed the ton of dependencies. (It was over 50 of them!) Fortunately my mod loaded grabbed them all for me and made the process simple, though long. I haven't started it yet, but I'm looking forward to it!
for the full clear, it's getting all strawberries + the crystal heart in one go without quitting out. Some levels like summit for example have some really convoluted routing required to get everything. It changes the color of the little flag in the log book too! There's also a separate flag color for full clear + golden together :)

That setup usually only clears 5 tiles, you'd need either forward momentum or (what I do) a double corner boost

I sure did eat my words, but dashless was really fun! It took me a long time to finally get it but it was totally worth it. It also opened my eyes a little more to advanced movement tech and I am scared.
As a side note, honestly have no idea how I got over the 6 tiles with that setup the first time. It was a bit of a fluke and I was never all to do again that way.
Was expecting to see you come back to this in a month, not a week, lmao. I’d recommend *not* working towards getting more golden strawberries just yet, the difficulty of doing them scales up preeettty hard. I’ve only got 16 of them so far, and that was with getting into speedrunning lmao. The C-sides don’t vary in difficulty by *too* much, outside of 7c and 8c, but they’re all pretty short, so shouldn’t be *too* bad. Have fun with SJ when you get there :D
I think that's good advice. I can tell/guess how hard some of the goldens will be and I know I'm not confident enough yet to do them. I'll keep coming back to try them as I get better at the game and start up SJ in the meantime :)
wow that's a lot tackled in one video. Well first of all congrats that's some great achievement, especially the dashless berry, but someting just couldn't leave my mind during this video : did you complete 1a dashless with a single jump button? 2 jumps buttons make a lot of tricks easier (for example in the second screen you can just climb up the wall and then tap the jump button in quick succession to get a good enough jump (idk why I'm trying to explain that strawberry jam is gonna do it 10 times better lol), the coffee house (scary mask room) jump is also way easier that way but yeah the hard screens, particularly the checkpoint 1 jump are still really difficult. also 16:10 was very funny because you enter the 2nd hardest remaining room and then "quick progress after a hard screen that feels good, I don't know when that's going to end". also to end dashless, the jump at the end of the last screen can be very hard but one thing you can abuse is coyote time : when you leave the ground you can still jump for a short period (5 frames to be exact).
The first try golden strawberry for 1a was clean and you should definitely brag about it,
forsaken city c-side and wow what is this screen shake off wooohooo!!! (to be fair 50% is clearly not as bad as I remembered). also I think you restarted your timer for deathless and left it running for the c-side, the time lines up (5 minutes on deathless) again you have the option to use the in game speedrun clock for this but it does cover a small portion of the screen. 36:30 "why am I still trying" you've been cursed by the knowledge of silly jumps, and believe me there is no escape "oh man now I know you could cornerboost off of that too [...] I see all of the things you could do in these stages now, suddenly understand why celeste player keep coming back" yup we're addicted to the silly techniques. "yeah with all the advanced techniques and knowledges all of these obstacles are just a suggestion" my reaction to that sentence efvnezufbhveuifhguihn YOU GET IT!!! that makes me so happy (also it's even more true than you think)
Some comments already explained what a full clear is, chapter 6 is an easy one since you only need the cassette and the heart (also you could go see the easter egg in the elevator room while you're there, you now have all the tools needed)

Did I complete dashless with 1 jump button... Yeeesssss. I think I tried binding a second button like a couple of videos suggested, but I never figured out how to make it work. So yup! I did it all with 1 button.

Timer is lower (and death count), because it resets when you die on the first screen

That's awesome! Learning to model and rig is totally something anyone can learn. There are fantastic resources and tutorials on UA-cam that can take you through the entire process.
