      Hi, great video. I am planning to buy sony. I am living krakow poland, could you please suggest where i can get sony a7 iii cheapest. Online or any store or any nearby country with good deal and genuine product. Additionally could you please also suggest if buying used product is a good idea not the body but lenses or other accessories. Where can i get the used reliable stuff?

    I think Canon and Nikon will improve in the future. I am really interested to see what Panasonic will do with its full-frame lineup. There is no doubt that they make a fun to use and high quality camera such as the G9. Their sensor tech is as good as Sony's. We just need something like the G9 with full frame senor.

    I love your review super helpful for me to understand what should i look for when checking a camera.
    But to be honest somehow I'm confused, I'm planing of upgrading my camera and it's still not clear to me what should i go for.
    my main use is macro photography, and i would like to make macro videos as well, and also shoot landscape nature usually wide shots.
    What's importent for me when looking on a camera is :
    color depth, photo res, and slow motion.
    What not important to me is low light cause usually it's controlled senerio, i can just add lights.
    I own nikon d5300 and all my lenses are nikon, but i can invest in speed booster.
    The cameras I'm considering are:
    gh5, canon d60/80, sony a7 one of the many version's or black magic..
    Ill be happy to hear what are your thoughts about what i should go for and why.
    Thanks

    I just became the owner of the Nikon Z6. I can't shoot with it yet as I'm waiting for the XQD card. There was a 400euros off at a local electronic store, so I jumped on that. But their XQD cards were a little pricy which I found on Amazon. I'm moving up from D5200, which I'll still keep because I have lenses for that.

    What about the overall usability? I've tried a A7III today and found it a little bit too small, clumsy interface if you want to change parameters fast, bad placement of buttons, dials... On papers it's awesome, but somehow the experience of using it seems to fall a little short, doesn't it?

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  5 років тому

      User interface on A7 III is definitely outdated, you need to spend some time setting it properly, then you can get used to it but it is not great. On the other hand I think that the placement on buttons and dials great, probably as good as it can be on a full frame camera of that size.

    By modifying the Sony's internal picture parameters (e.g., sharpness, contrast, etc.), can its colors not be made as good as the Nikon out of body? For RAW, I don't see that it would matter, since you could just make presets in Lightroom (or whatever tool you use) and automatically apply those to every photo on import. If I'm correct, then it wouldn't take any additional time in editing and Sony's colors can be just as good out of camera.
    If I'm wrong, I'd enjoy hearing your explanation. Thanks again for a great review.

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  5 років тому +1

      That is a great question. to large extent, you can improve colors by doing what you have described, but it is more complicated. The color science, as a part of image processing, determines how the camera reads information from the sensor and what you can do with the RAWs as well. It is usually possible to get same look with Sony though.

    As always a great review. I shoot with the Sony A6500 and "MAY" add the A7iii to my kit because I like to shoot with two cameras. I don't do video, so having a pair of cameras with different focal length primes is quite handy rather than switching lenses on a single camera. However, I am waiting to see what Sony puts on the table with the new crop format mirrorless camera which we are waiting for. A crop camera does quite well for my needs and many of my Sony and Sigma lenses are designed for crop cameras.

    I think Nikon will be an option the day they will have more native glass and a double card slot, which is a must have for serious shooters and pros !
    At that price, the Z6 is supposed to be dedicated also for pros and the lack of dual slots makes it nothing more than an expensive enthusiast's camera (exactly the same as Canon EOS R)... Too bad !

    Excellent review. I just have a comment on the living room hi-iso test. 2:37 Its ok that the Nikon has more color splotches and the banding issue, but when talking about colors, the Nikon feels way more natural to me, sony looks a lot more artificial, monochrome and processed. On my case, i think i would stick to the splotchy but natural results of the Nikon.
    Back in the day i bought the Nikon D700 precisely because of this. It feels a bit like film sometimes, i cannot find this on any sony/canon cameras (maybe olympus¿?)

      Thank you, according to the measurements, it is the exact opposite. Sony A7 III is the most color accurate full frame camera. Nikon uses much more processing to make the colors more appealing to general public, but it is less accurate. It isn't better of worse, just a matter of preference.

    Great review as usual. I switched to Sony from Nikon 3 years ago. I think I would have bought the Z6 with the adapter if it had been available then. The Nikkor lenses are quite cheaper than Sony and there are so many available on the used market. That matters a lot, more than negligible IQ differences. But now it is not compelling enough to switch back. The new Z lenses seem quite expensive. I am wondering how the face AF and eye AF differ between thw 2 cameras. It is an important aspect that has changed the way I shoot. XQD card is kind of a disappointing choice. I wish Nikon would have offered the camera with SD card option as well. When I shot Nikon the only time I needed servicing was when I dropped or banged the camera. I never had a camera fail in 10 years on its own. And I used cameras like D7100 / D610 etc, not the top level cameras. Never a problem ever if I was shooting in light rain / drizzle. Sony cameras on the other hand needed servicing because the rear buttons stopped responding, or the AF point would go crazy. I took better care than the Nikon. An authorized repair center told me that the internal circuitry on the Sony cameras is usually less robust, with ribbon cables being a bit short, connectors not as strong. I also wonder if the Nikon shutter closes when the camera is off and you change the lens. It is very easy to get dust on the Sony sensor because it is exposed when you change lenses. I wish there was a way to close the shutter when the camera is off.

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  5 років тому +4

      Thank you, for me Tamron 28-75mm F2.8, 70-200mm F4 and FE 28mm F2 cover most of needs, 90mm F2.8 and 85mm F1.8 are also great portrait options. I just miss some better ultra wide F4 lens. Face tracking is better on Sony A7 III, it works 99%, I would say that Z6 works on 85%. Shutter isn't closed when the camera is switched off, but I much prefer dust on sensor over dust in shutter mechanism.

    • @stefpix
      @stefpix 5 років тому

      @@TheHybridShooter I am thinking of buying the Tamron 28-75 to simplify my set up. FE 28mm seems redundant. I also have the Sony 55 and Sony 85. I'd sell 2 primes. I most likely keep either the 85 or 55. 55 has more use for me. 85 rarely but it has the programmable button for eye af. What makes you keep the 28 prime? One stop advantage over the Tamron does not seem so meaningful, unless small size is an important factor.
