So excited for a new flip video!! Love the beads and the bowl!!! I was thinking... what is you put toothpicks in the beads before they dry that way they would be easier to paint and sand instead of painting on the string 🤔 then you can use the twine too. I know it was your first time but maybe next time 🤷♀️ I’m def planning a craft day with friends to do this!!!! Love you!!!
The blending and shredding and straining is also how i make seed bombs! Just add wildflower seeds instead of the compound and glue and roll and then you can toss them around and be a wildflower faerie 🥰
Same re: papier mache not sure about the childhood being a million years ago part though hehehe.. maybe I'm in denial.. Disclaimer. I know you weren't being literal. I too am totally kidding.
Hey Macenna, I just wanna thank you for your dedication to your vids- I can be having a bad day, or be in a stressful time in life but the moment I see your thumbnail in my sub box, suddenly a sense of peace and calm comes & no matter what the video is, they help me a ton! Great work & look forward to seeing the evolution of your projects!!!! Have a good day
I've been loving being on the whole house journey with you, but this is a nice break in the mix. I hope you are taking to heart that you can take your time and we'll just be along for the ride. Lolll at that lamp! 😅😅😂
You are the cutest, most hardworking, creative person I have ever seen. Your positive vibe is contagious. Your videos are addictive. Love from a very far away country, Turkey. ❤️🍀
Good morning from Bonnie Scotland! Just wanted to say; I’ve been a subscriber for some time now and followed your journey to your new home. With your drive, passion, commitment and an extremely supportive family it will look stunning. It’s a pleasure to watch especially as we’ll be moving to our own fixer upper! Keep doing what you do so well! Love to Kingsley. X
I imagine the story behind the lamp could be a kid scared of the dark. They’re mom gives them a lamp and makes them decorated it and writes the note “you’re new best friend “ to help them face their fears.
I didn't realise how much I missed these kinds of videos until now. I love the cottage updates, but also enjoy the thrift flips. Thanks for this. and I love the lamp...both of them actually.
Love the paper mache beads...so much more vibe than clay ones! Really pretty. Might also look really good strung alternately with smaller glass/ceramic beads as well.
I love how you make useable decor! Most “diyers” make super cheap and looks like they will fall apart in a day diys. But yours are so nice looking and the type of diy I’d actually want to do !! ❤️
It never ceases to amaze me at how creative you are! I love your diys, interior design and styling. These flips turned out stunningly. Thank you for sharing 😍
Great inspo Macenna! Love how the bowl turned out. When you make your own beads from clay or paper mache, you can string them, well spaced and still wet, on metal bbq skewers, so they will dry with good holes for threading. You could also string them straight on string or twine, but then they likely dry up fixed to the string, unless you move them regularly during drying.
Loved the use of the baskets, both with the vases and as a lampshade. I do say I've missed these DIY videos but now I miss seeing your cottage. Happy Mother's day to your lovely Mom.
Loved all the flips but the basket lampshade for the desk lamp was amazing. Loved how the light played off the basket. Also loved that Papier-mâché bowl!😍
When you are making a paper mache bowl or anything where you are molding the stuff over an existing object, be sure to use a mold release of some type. Either a layer of plastic wrap, or pray it with PAM, rub it with vaseline, something to keep the glue-y paper from sticking to the original object. For making beads, skewer them onto a thick piece of wire while they are still wet, like an untwisted wire coat hanger or something, then when they dry they already have a hole in them. Also you can add acrylic paint to your paper mache mixture to color it from the inside, as an alternative to painting it after it's dry.
LOVE these DIYs. Feeling inspired. The doubled sewing thread you used to string your beads was a good idea. A nylon thread (fishing line grade is my preference) would be more durable as I find that with time, heat and humidity, the sewing thread doesn't hold up as well.
That paper mache bowl looked super cool. The organic, earthy vibe isn't usually my style, but something about that bowl and the raw edges of it just looked super cool. It felt very unique.
As someone who's doing an Mediterranean/Italian coffeeshop theme in her kitchen those glass and wicker vases scream "bread sticks please!" Looove that!! As soon as I saw them together I was like "ohhhh yeah!! ' and the wicker shade? Gurl, this is why I love ya!!
You can actually do the paper mâché without blending it and putting compound in. You could just take the paper( idk if wet or not, not too sure it’s been a while haha) and add glue to the paper sheets and mold it into you’re container, bowl, ballon ect.. If you’re thinking of doing this I’m sure you can find a simpler recipe.
Yes and You can stick it onto a balloon to create the bowl shape as well. That way you can add strips of paper and stick it together with a glue to create a seamless shape
Super cute!! I love what you did with the baskets and your paper bowl is lovely! For paper mâché I use just strips of paper dipped in diluted glue and salt (the salt keeps it from getting moldy - and help with drying). Then I run the paper through my fingers to get the excess glue off and I shape or add the strips to whatever I’m covering. It’s still messy but not nearly as time consuming.
Hey! Next time you have trouble opening something, my s/o taught me to wrap a leather belt around the lid, hold it tight, then open it. It's the same concept of using an oil filter wrench. Works like a charm and no one has to poke any holes!
Omg so happy to finally watch a thrift flip video! I understand you're 100% onto your new house and project, but I really was waiting for this. Thanks!!! I needed a break from the cottage 🤎
Hello from France! I recently discovered your channels and I love them ! I love renovations and decorations. This video is very inspiring. Big thank you! Happy mother's day too !
I always used wallpaper paste to make paper mache - it would give a smoother consistency. Another diy material you could use is plaster of Paris - that would be good around a lamp base, or to make a bowl.
I like how you see things in stuff (that I don’t see) and then you create these beautiful things from the stuff and then I’m like woah omg now I see it !! You are a creating goddess 😍😍
I love, love, love that papier-mâché bowl, the wicker vases, the wicker lampshade and the lamp that Kinsey so graciously helped you with! I think the first lamp needs the same shape lampshade, but it needs to cover up the workings of the lamp. You’re not supposed to see the socket and switch area.
I remember making paper beads out of strips of paper and glue! You can use colored paper for different colors of beads. The white paper would be simple and pretty!
Yes you can add color to the mixture while it is still mush. Acrylic paint works too , (thinking of like a terra cotta colored paint) and then you don't have to paint it after it dries.
I have a beautiful bracelet made from paper "beads" done that way that I bought locally, but originally came from Africa. It's a source of income for those too infirm to work in this village. It's beautiful.
@@karenrobbins4622 I have one of those too, it came to me as a gift from my sister who bought it for me when she went to Haiti.....and it too has a similar backstory.
Great video and a nice change of pace. I think that one big basket looks like it would make a cute doggie bed for Kinsley, or even invert it for a pedestal plant stand. Love them all!
Oooh that wicker/glass flip could be done with a taller or larger wicker basket and a shorter glass so you give the impression of your flowers coming out of the basket, but it's not leaking everywhere!
You crack me up, such exuberance! The paper mache diy took me back to 7th grade art class when our assignment was to create different animals, my girlfriend & decided to make the invisible rabbit from the Jimmy Stewart movie “Harvey”. He was around 5 ft! Using the glue for the lamp is a better idea instead of flour, no possibility of mold and stronger the lamp was a score I would have never thought of the material u used.
Nice change from demo. BTW when I make beads from paperclay I use wooden dowels or simple bamboo barbecue skewers to create holes in them to be strung 😊 also easy paint tip. Once dry, put all of the beads in zip lock bagand add couple of teaspoons paint. Zip the back and smoosh ( technical term) around. Leave to dry, and do the same with the next colours. 😊
Listen you are a genius I just love all of your decors keep giving all that you come up with every Sunday looking forward watching you again stay and blessed.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there 😘 Hope you guys enjoy today’s DIY video AND HAVE AN AMAZING DAY ✨
Dawww thanks you’re the sweetest!

As a kid, a million years ago, we would take strips of newspaper and drag them through a flour and water paste to make papier maché
Same re: papier mache not sure about the childhood being a million years ago part though hehehe.. maybe I'm in denial..
Disclaimer. I know you weren't being literal. I too am totally kidding.
same! my mom showed us how and that's the process we used to make homemade pinatas for birthday parties!
@@sasukerox lol yes! I remember for my 6th birthday my tia taught me how to make piñatas and she actually made me 2 that year lol
I did that as a kid and I’m only 28. You’re not that old!! 💙💙💙💙
We used those same ingredients to make homemade kites.
I know these are probably the most time consuming videos to make, but they will always be my favorite! I get soooo inspired every time!

Your excitement over the papier-mâché possibilities gave me life 😂❤️❤️
Hahaha 🥰
That little iron desk lamp turned out SO well! Love it.
My friend poked holes in her beads with spaghetti before they were dry
I loved the glass/wicker flower vases! So cute with your drinking glasses.
Glad this series is back! Loved all these creations, including the mache. Also, the wildflowers were such a lovely touch to the wicker vases
I love what you did with the wicker, so lovely. Your ideas are incredible, your vision impeccable. Thank you!
You are so creative! I love every single thing you made! The lamps especially!! You're giving me the courage to DIY... we'll see if that happens...
I believe in the power of Kimberly Whisk! You can do it, Kim!
