Jug handles suggestion: After attaching the handles, use spackling around the seams where the handles meet the vessel. After it dries, you can sand it a bit to make the transition of jug to handles look nearly invisible. It will appear as though the handles are original to the vessel if done correctly.
A great idea. Im gonna tag on that having wire the clay is formed around will also help with the structure. If the wires are left sticking out thay can be used to anchor the pieces to allow them to stand for baking and in place for less distorting. After baking wire cutters can be used to cut of the extra wire leaving the end flush for attaching.
@@josephjones6467 she said that she used oven bake clay, essentially a polymer clay. But if your wondering the exact brand, it looks like she’s using the 1lb (454g) brick of Sculpey.
One tip when upholstering chairs like that - use something thinner like an old bedsheet or t-shirt first for the first layer next to the sponge, then staple on the fabric you want over it. It keeps your sponge cleaner and you can use it for much longer. My mom and I have done this a million times, we change the chair fabric every few years, and only replace the sponge every 10ish years. This also stops the sponge to stick to the fabric when it starts to fall apart, so you can easily reuse the fabric you are just bored with on the chairs.
I’ve never thought to do that before! Thanks for the advice! Sponge is way more expensive than fabric where I live for upholstery projects, and I would love for the sponge to hold up longer 💕
MaCenna, I loved the "free wood frame" you made it beautiful again by restoring the original wood. It will be so beautiful with a mirror in your new house some day. Thank you for sharing your videos with us.
Classic chair design. My parents had chairs like that when I was a child, and I'm 75! Bentwood, post-war, very simple but great.😊 Ours had cane seats though.
I picked up a small children’s chair for $4.00 because it was a cute turquoise color. It turned out to be a Thonet. I knew nothing about him til I did some research!
That mirror frame looks like something I'd find in my grandparents' old house. My granddad is gone now and my grandmother isn't herself anymore - seeing you restore and bring that frame back to life was so special!
Oh MaCenna, I was yelling at my iPad for you to grab the frame! I’m so happy you got it. It is utterly stunning. Thank you so much for not painting it I would have cried. 😁 Making it a mood board for now is a genius idea. I love it. 😍
A tip for the “mud” look on ceramic... take a dry brush and paint on shoe polish! It makes it look aged and grungy but so much less messy than real mud.
Much better idea! I do t know how these people wipe/clean the thing when it's just covered in dirty water.... Guess they don't?? But what if it gets dusty?
You've inspired me to thrift and i brought my 8yo daughter with me today, we hit up two goodwills...at first she thought it would be boring, but she got so excited when she started finding stuff and we started brainstorming what we could do with certain items....she's literally looking through her room right now for old items she can "flip"!! She's a Macenna in the making haha!!! Thanks for all of your hard work, you're so inspiring! And we love Kinsley!
As an interior designer i freaking adored all of these diys in this video!! Also it was surprising to see a beautiful antique wooden frame for free hhh loved the idea of turning it into a moodboard 💙💙💙
You inspire me !! I am a colorful decorator and watching your creativity I have somehow started using more earth tone neutral colors !! I never really liked macrame or baskets and I find myself looking at them and trying to figure where they can fit in my decor!! Less color more earthy..for now 🙂🙃
Always a treat!!! If you haven't already purchased one, invest in one of these! Staple Lifter - Heavy-Duty Upholstery Nail Tack Remover Tool (Amazon or any upholstery store or some hardware stores....One of the best tools I own and use religiously!!
I think Kinsley was trying to help you my walking on the fabric to adhere it more to the foam board lol! So cute. I love how your thrift flips come out elegant 💕
Thanks for the tip, I live in Glendora and have been hunting the same old shops for years. Found some great stuff but still can't have too many new hunting grounds. And downtown is just too far. Claremont though, that is great news, never thought to check out there.
My favorite was the chair. You made a simple chair look elegant. The mood board was a close second. I am inspired to try reupholstering some old chairs that belonged to my husband’s grandmother. Looking forward to your Christmas decorating videos.
That mirror frame is SO STUNNING oh my gosh! Absolute insanity that it was free! I’ve been searching online for ornate frames & mirrors for months and for one that size it costs anywhere from $50 - $3K ! Amazing! I def wondered if it was haunted haha! It’s so beautiful def my fav of your thrift flips! 😍
Hi Traci, did you ever think to buy modeling air dry clay & buy molds with pretty ornate styles??? Find a large plain mirror & glue on your designs after you make them & paint them to blend in with your mirror frame. I will be doing that when I move out of state in a few mnths, can't wait!!
I don't have words for how relieved I am that you didn't paint that beautiful frame, but kept that wonderful wood as is. I would have cried if you'd painted it.
I love watching your flip videos! The music choices are to relaxing! I could just kick myself for not watching some of these a few months ago. We cleaned out my grandparents house and there were so many things I could have flipped now that you inspired me.
That mirror/pin board turned out great. When I saw it, I was like "Romeo, start the car"!!!! Like that IKEA commercial when she got a good deal....it was kinda like that. Who gives something like that away for free! It's gorgeous. I also liked the vase, that turned out really nice
I feel like I just saw the female version of drew's (Lone Fox's) last thrift flip😂 A chair, the vase (wich was inspired by the same lamp) and a frame lol But in the same time it was different and intresting in it's own way❤
Fun diy flip collab for you and Lone Fox. You both have stocked up craft rooms. The challenge is don't buy anything, and make something cool using only whats in the other person's craft room.
Found you for the first time today. What have I been missing?? The use of the cane on the chair was so clever. It made it one of a kind. I have added new fabric on top of other past coverings in good condition, as an nod to its history and other woman’s choices of decor. It’s interesting to see the different fabrics taste, a real blast from the past. Of course it is a given, the free frame is the envy of most of us out here. Another clever idea 💡 to give it a new lease on life. I’m 75 but still love to find new items and ways to make our home interesting
Crazy!!! How free and huge was that frame, you did a great job. I also really liked the pottery look of the vases, had no idea of adding baking soda and dirt to paint to give it texture. Looked awesome! Thank you for sharing.

This is a great idea! I was thinking along similar lines while watching
that’s what i was thinking definitely made it look a but tacky with the cracks and unevenness i might even try this 👀

I was so proud she took it! I knew she’d have a great plan!
Yes, I liked all, but the last one with the mirror redo was AWESOME!
Tips for the clay- wire in the middle to ensure it has some structure and when baking have it propped exactly as you want it with crunched up tin foil
Ooooo crunched tin foil !! Amazing tip thank you so much 😊

That frame is one of those once in a lifetime finds. For free! So beautiful and I’m so glad you left the finish as it was.
The black chair is a Thonet chair. Michael Thonet was a german carpenter who specialised in bent wood furniture in the 1900's.
Thank you for this info!
if it's a real one this is a lucky find, they cost a lot!
I picked up a small children’s chair for $4.00 because it was a cute turquoise color. It turned out to be a Thonet. I knew nothing about him til I did some research!
It's Austrian Thonet bend wood furniture :) greetings from Austria. You can find such pieces still a lot in our cafés
Chair and free mirror fix
The mirror piece reminds me of a violin! It echos a time that has long past, and holds a promising future... simply beautiful!

Will the shoe polish counter the matte finish of the paint?
Excellent idea! Definitely going to try this. (Really like the simplicity of MaCenna's vase. And adding the clay handles was genius!)
Feeling so inspired to go to the thrift stores to find some things with potential! Another great thrift flip video 😊✨🙌
