  • The Weber SmokeFire Pellet Grill steaks (New York strips). Also, after filming this I made a decision that I'm returning it. These probably should have been 2 videos, but I don't want to look like I'm dragging this out for views...
If you are new here, this probably won't make much sense and it's probably not worth reading further. (If you want to catch up, check out the Weber SmokeFire playlist for a play-by-play.)
For those who have been following along I just want you to know I loved the idea of this grill so much I was genuinely shocked to see all the issues at launch. Couldn't process it. Wanted to get to the bottom of the problem and make it right...even paying over $1300 of my own money (when Weber offered me a free one) to jump in and "do my part" of experimenting and diagnosing issues...maybe even use my platform to set the record straight. It seems silly when I write it out like that, because obviously it's just a grill and I was WAY too invested and excited about it.
However today while talking to a friend I realized no matter how fond I am of Weber, it's a business and not an old friend...It's not my place to fix this, and nobody at Weber asked me to help them.
I wish I had done some things differently on this channel since the November SmokeFire launch party, but I can honestly say my heart was in the right place the entire time, I never said anything to my audience I didn't genuinely believe at the time, and I've learned a valuable lesson about how to do this job in the future.
Thanks for the support, my friends. Time to turn the page...

I mentioned before. Look at the Blazn Grill smokers made in Nebraska. Built heavy like a Yoder but look at the removable ash tray with taking the grills off. Also the auger and blast plate are also heavy duty. Had mine for 7 years.

I know how you feel. To look foward and to be excited about something especially when going see it and experience it before everyone else. No worries man, Weber will go back to the drawing board and get it right, not everyone can get it right right out of the gate, even Weber. Crazy seeing the last few videos with no music and subtle comedy, lol. Now it’s time to get back to your norm and film some classic bbq vids. Head up pal, and keep the vids coming. Cody

THANKYOU for being you. I stopped editing a video to watch this. I’m a huge Weber fan and I wish them the best, however they really crapped the bed on this one. They tried so hard to be different that they ended up a meme, and butt of jokes. They will make it right, but they need to trash this, recall all units, give full refunds, and hit the reset button. Thanks again Justin.

Totally, Weber has a good track record but they prone to tripping up like any other company...and possibly their development culture just isn't up to the task on this. Who knows what the internal politics were...there are probably plenty of people in Weber that will be happy to see this fail because they think pellets are a fad.

Weber, if you read this, one of your biggest supporters is obviously feeling let down. And his legion of fans see this. How many of use are now going to consider the competition? I know I am. I don't think you understand that we wanted to give YOU our money because we believed. And now you will have to work three times as hard because you have a wave of fans who will be moving on. That's a shame.

I live in Leawood Kansas and went to our local store that sells these grills in question and they, quite emphatically, said you were a fly by nighter and didn't know what you were talking about. This is probably the most honest review by a fan of Weber, which I am too. We all wanted this cooker to work, and by doing this review I think you took Weber a long way towards making this right. Many of us are disappointed, but I’m willing to give Weber a chance to get this right. Sometimes, what goes well in the lab doesn’t work the same in the real world. First off, I appreciate and respect your honesty in reviewing this Weber product.
For the amount of time Weber has been making grills, it's hard to believe they didn't experience these problems in their testing.
Weber needs to own it, address it, and make it right for their consumers or suffer the consequences.

Thanks for all your hard work on this product review. Can tell it has taken a toll on you but saved your viewers from a great deal of frustration and grief. Will delay my purchase until Weber comes out with version 2.

After watching the videos from you, Harry Soo, and others from the great unveiling, I thought it was going to be time to break down and finally get a pellet grill, but after the roll out and the REAL videos from every day users started being uploaded on UA-cam, I think it’s safe to say I’ll be staying with my tried and true stick burner. Thanks for all your hard work making these great videos!

Thanks for making it clear to people that have not talk to the Weber engineers exactly how they wanted this designed.

Justin, it's not your fault this grill didn't live up to expectation. You didn't design or build it - it's a Weber issue. The fact that you worked hard trying to find the cause of the problems and expose the faults is a credit to you and your integrity. I would have been as excited as you in getting and trying a new grill - I've been there. The transition from prototype to production is a big step that causes issues in almost every product on the market. Some companies do better, some worse in post prototype testing and product revision. Weber stepped on their Johnson on this one. You tried to help solve this for your audience and that's laudable. Keep up the great work!

You know Justin, at the end of the day it boils down to us as the consumers liking the product or not. I had a very similar experience with a smoker. I spent more than 4K on this thing and suffice to say there were far more negatives than I would have liked. When I found your channel, T-Roy and others as well, I loved the fact that it wasn’t an in your face brand loyal set of videos. Your videos help a lot of us in many way. Thanks for all you do!
    Bryan.

What an incredible learning experience. Thank you for taking the time and also having the courage to provide your viewers an honest review. I would have felt cheated had you done anything less.
Just yesterday I saw this smoker for the first time at my local hardware store. I read the bullet points on the box identifying all the features. It looked promising but I thought to myself I should check out some reviews of it first. That same night I returned home and went straight to your channel to see if you had personally used this product. WOW!!! What an eye opener 😳 😳 😳 . Because of your decision to submit the product review on this Weber smoker to your audience I was able to make an informed decision on whether or not to purchase it. Thankfully, I chose not to spend my hard earned money and purchase this smoker.
This consumer is still looking for a large pellet horizontal smoker/grill that has even temperatures across the cook surface, maintains a steady temp, has no grease fires and has a low amoumt of ash blowing on the food.

Love the video brother. Your genuine honesty and regret on behalf of your previous reviews is truly heartfelt. I bought this machine based on your reviews and even though some things have not gone perfectly i still thank you so much for putting the time and effort into dissecting the Weber pros and cons. Sad that this will be your last Smokefire video but hopefully Weber will address the issues and come back stronger. I have one more cook left to try and if it fails i will be returning my machine as well, feel free to come by and check it out. Fingers crossed and keep up the GREAT videos!!

Hats off to you on how you handled everything. I’m sure Weber is feeling frustrated right now too and can’t wait to hear what they have to say about this. Hopefully they won’t quit on the idea but if I ever go the pellet grill route, I’ll be going Camp Chef. Thank you sir!

Excellent work with these videos. I know it can't have been easy. I was super excited about this cooker as it sounded like exactly what I was looking for. I was following your coverage and anxious to see you try it out. I am thoroughly disappointed with the results as you obviously are but your honest work on this saved me a lot of money and frustration. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for you sincerity. Boy, that must have been frustrating. Keep doing you. I'm confident Weber will come out with a Smoke Fire 2.0 at some point and we'll be talking about that one day too. I have have high hopes that they are going to be the company that can fix pellet grill issues.

There is no need for apologies. You were providing your insight without trying to mislead us. It's up to the individual purchaser to make the decision to buy, or not. There is no need to beat yourself up over this.
The problems are Weber's. Something went very wrong. It's up to them to make things right.
Like many others, I waited for your review, knowing that you would provide valuable insight. You did your job, and more. Your information is appreciated by me, and countless others.
Please continue to keep us informed, as you gain information.
Thanks again for all you do for us.
