    Pad Thai without peanuts or fresh lime?!

    • @milton3695
      @milton3695 7 років тому +150

      Krista L I know right. peanuts offer that little crunch and the lime makes the flavour base so much more interesting.

      Not sure is used the correct noodles either.

      Krista L I can't say if it taste good or bad. But by the look of it, it's so different from what you can get in Thailand.

      maybe because its a food challenge and adding that can be a slowing factor to the people who'll take this challenge

    30 bucks for noodles!!! That's crazy!! Yeah no peanuts or lime. The sauce must be good. Mike knows this pad Thai probably didn't taste good because he didn't close his eyes on the first bit lol

      @@justindai8401 he always closes his eyes when he loves it he also provides commentary on how good it is. On this he kept saying things like 'I'm starving' or 'it's delicious'. Generic things. You can tell he didn't enjoy it.

    • @cHemon
      @cHemon 7 років тому +57

      Haylor Stevejuanes It's not Char Kway Teow either. Char Kway Teow doesn't have tamarind sauce. In my opinion, it's more like an incomplete Pad Thai.

Im half Thai/Korean and since my mom is familar with korean food already for so long she cooks the best thai/thai food with chinese influence/&korean food , ....so either 1. they dont know how to cook it right , 2. they dont put enough effort into it or 3. they simply cant cook....

      Patrick Bartosz
      Chopsticks for Pad Thai is actually not too weird in Thailand. Yes, spoon is more common, but using chopsticks is not wrong in this case.

    • @patrickbartosz8654
      @patrickbartosz8654 7 років тому +1

      Yeah in a general contact they use them, but mainly for noodle soups, and the Pad Thai carts always have them, usually for farangs that insist on eating all Asian food with chopsticks. When I see a Thai use chopsticks for Pad Thai it's because they have a few sides (eg. Som Tam) together with the Pad Thai which can warrant using chopsticks since they'll take an hour to eat it.

    • @cHemon
      @cHemon 7 років тому +8

      Patrick Bartosz Im Thai living in BKK and surrounded by Thai people. It's not just farangs who use chopsticks for Pad Thai. Thais use chopsticks too, not often, but we do.
      My point was I don't agree calling him "silly" using chopsticks in this case.
      Also, I'm not sure of if I get your message right, but did you said Thai people eat Som Tum using chopsticks?? Thai people eat pad thai with plara or nam phrik??

      +Derek Borba your comment says it, COMPETITIVE. This restaurant should be running competitive eating then. Why would even bother if its not for regulars/normals.

    this is NOT pad thai, just a simple, regular fried rice noodle. if it's authentic pad thai, you can definitely finish it within 30mins coz it's so tasty!

      Moon Cake this is not a fair statement to him. how would you expect him to know what a real pad thai taste like when he hasn't tried 1 before? this is a food challenge, not food tasting, he don't need to be eating the most tasty or authentic food for a challenge. he's just being kind to say the fried noodle is tasty in front of the boss.

      ZeliardFTW I live in DC. I have eaten Pad Thai for over 15 years. That IS NOT the dish. Pad Thai has peanuts and lime. Also, it is NEVER that dark in color. This restaurant did a HORRIBLE job.
