My mother passed away in 2020 after 17 years of being paralyzed and mute from a stroke. We read the "Shake your fist at the gates" lyrics at her funeral. Probably the only 72 year old to have TOOL lyrics read at their funeral.
My grandma was left quadriplegic after a bad fall for 8 years and has since passed away. She raised me and my brother so she was like our mom and father in one. this song definitely speaks to me in the same way I'm sure it speaks to you.
@paradiso4562 yes it does. We both have very similar stories to MJK, but this could apply to any loved one who remains faithful through many worldly difficulties.
The band writes all the music first and then sends each song to the singer Maynard for him to write all the lyrics. Maynard plays the music in his car on long drives or while working on his winery and then he writes the lyrics after letting the music become a part of him.
Honestly, that’s gotta be a big understatement. For a song like this? Where would the band know where to start musically? Maynard can be a fucking liar you know?😆
I say this with no offense intended: My soul hurt when she’s reacting to “colors” on this shitty fan made video instead of this emotional masterpiece song. A lyric video would have been much better.
Yeah, that was an atrocious reaction. They may as well have been reacting to any other mainstream song. No analysis of the context, no contemplation about the meaning. Just woeful.
@@darkdrum288that’s kind of their schtick? I’ve been following them for a longggggggg time and they tend to lean towards positivity in everything no matter what have fun and no serious stuff
Fetch me the spirit the son and the father... kills me each time and I gotta shut it off. Lost my own mom, a very holy and God fearing woman to some nasty cancer and I, like so many others can relate to his pain. Thanks guys!! 🤘🔥
I will continue to repeat it as long as I live: best love song ever written! Even if it's love towards a mother and not a lover, this song would make even a stone cry!
It is hard for people to truly "Get" Tool. I have been a fan ever since I was a Teen. I was born in 1980. You have to be super deep to get them because they are super deep. So deep they make your brain hurt. I am deep but I think Tool is deeper than me.

Great reaction (as usual). Tool has said repeatedly that they compose the body of music and then send to Maynard when it's complete (years). Maynard then feels and writes the lyrics adding both lyrics and inflections. They only do slight musical changes after sending them off to Maynard.
You guys definatly didnt read up on the situation or the lyrics before you went on here, thats so funny :) I`ll still like you though. I do like you guys, literally :)
Sony and that mini mall copyright striking firm they hired purged every single non-Salival Tool lyric video from the internet after Fear Inoculum was released. A few have been reposted in the last year that a few heroes preserved and archived, but not for both parts of this song.
Worst reaction to these songs ever! It's such a big tribute to Maynard's mom and such deep words and you guys are excited about colours on visual video 😢
I only came here to comment something similar, and this is the first one I see. What an annoying reaction. That cake was a little too rich with something. Must've been a sugar high..high...highyyyeeiiiiyeeiiaah.
These two completely missed the point. This is not a song. Is a poem written from a son to his very special deceased mother. Tearing is a common reaction.
I love tool, but seeing all of these fanboys get angry because you didn’t react the way they wanted you to gives me second hand embarrassment. Thanks for the upload guys!

Tool is one of those bands whose entire discography should be added to the national archives.
World heritage listed even…….
No wonder this album sold 6 MILLION copies in its first year of release.
Beautiful tribute to his Mom Miss Judith Marie
You missed the meaning and message of the song. You should listen to it again, listen to the lyrics.

It depends upon the song.
@@Brent_P Maynard said in an interview that he always does that since their second album.
"I'm not a singer, I'm not a Temptation (group of singers) I'm a vocalist and my voice is just another instrument in the songs."_MJK

No one talks about Danny in this song, but my gawd! everything he’s doing is so tasty.

They were all purged from the internet by Sony. One for part 1 got reposted recently and hasn’t been removed yet, but none for part 2.
Wow! Seems like the gravity snd the meaning of this song fell on very deaf ears. Especially given the backstory on mother's day.
Yeah, that was an atrocious reaction. They may as well have been reacting to any other mainstream song. No analysis of the context, no contemplation about the meaning. Just woeful.
Yeah they showed no respect at all to what they were listening too.
These two are clueless, and he seems like he is stoned out of his mind most times.

Maynard said that he regrets putting his soul and these 2 tracks on this album.
watching some of the reactions it's not hard to see why. ignorance is bliss to the ignorant.
my eyes leak before the first word.
When you said, “I really like this bass line,” I was like, “Bruh… Give it a minute.“
That gallop is evvverything🤘😖

I love the more natural hair and makeup look. You look beautiful ❤️ In the thumbnail I thought he was doing a reaction with someone new. Lol
That was hard to watch. Tone deaf
GREAT SONGS FROM A GREAT ALBUM!!! That line "10,000 days in the fire is long enough, you're going home!" is so powerful to hear!
A beautiful tribute to Maynard's mother!

YESSSS I WAS WAITING FOR MORE TOOL REACTIONS!!!!
I am shocked it took this long for you to react to this song. Thanks. Love you both.
That was no reaction. They were clueless to what just transpired. They might as well stick to Michael Jackson reactions.

I hope y'all make a lot of money touring. You're great people, personalities and all that
Tool is like no other.
I had no idea, that someone could net get the message of that song that wrong, as you did.
She looks AMAZING even without makeup. Just sayin'

Please redo with a lyric video
there ought to be mandatory reading before listening to this song. i'm still embarrassed for how long it took me to understand what it's about.
10,000 days is 27.39726 years.
You mentioned the sounds at the beginning & they come back at the end of part two. My impression is they are wing beats.
Hi Suzi and Travis good video great band love you
We'll call this cake-pop. ;)
Some gummies wouldn't hurt, either.
On part 2. Justin's bass sounds like it's skipping around on clouds in heaven or something.
This is amazing tool
I can't g thru this again ..I'm literally dying inside

Good luck ever hearing this live. “It’s a difficult song, especially live, and…. It’s a really bad song to fuck up.”-mjk
You can totally see Susie is high as fuck… it’s the squinting that’s the dead giveaway 😂

You have to listen to them all in order you have to listen to Jimmy then Judith and then wings for Marie 1 and 2
Yessssss...great pick giyz!

Very somber songs you may have missed the true meaning ,should have had lyrics
title 10000 days is reference to the long time between her aneurism and death. 18 years(6.570 days)

Maynard never writes lyrics first. Music always comes first for his writing.
Maynard took you to the death bed with him and to this day cannot process his mothers death.
Tool is not a army boomers! Its personal experiences. Let it go.
The movie Merly by straight no chaser please?
Hate when people react to super deep songs and ignore the lyrics.. or talk over the most heavy hitting lyrics.
By the way we've all that makeup off and crap out of your hair you look about 10 years younger
His mom passed in 2033?🤔😜
So. Lame.
Might as well react to Nickelback.
