I been hearing people say this for years. But truthfully, because they find genius ways to lose your ability to count timings to their songs (without insane effort), you just stop trying and go along for whatever they're doing. The math works out, you can trust that and forget "where the 1 is" to their stuff. Yeah, it's different than nearly anything else ever written.
I would say it’s a spiritual experience! I get chills when I listen to Tool! It’s so beautiful it makes me feel emotional. It invades my soul and my being. It’s almost enough to bring you to tears through the pure joy of the experience. I know that some may think that is over the top. I don’t care! I feel the music. Tool is a once in a lifetime musical experience! There has never been anyone like them. EVER! I feel blessed to be able to be alive to listen to them.
My first of many Tool concerts was 1992 in Portland Oregon. EVERYONE misses most everything during the first listen to any Tool song. Every following listen peels back more layers. Just enjoy the ride.
I've enjoyed Tool for a long ass time and what gives me my Tool kick these days, aside their music, is watching UA-cam videos, not of reactors experiencing Tool for the first time, but young musicians performing Tool songs. The O'Keefe Foundation kids did a fantastic rendition of "46 and 2" and Sober (among many great songs from other great artists) and there's plenty other videos where kids take a go at playing Tool songs. On top of that, you Have Danny Carey having several videos floating around UA-cam where he either joins kids in their band practice or performs live with them. Tool is probably going to be around releasing new songs for a while yet, but we can be assured that their music has carried over generations and the Tool influence is going to give us better music going forward.
My favorite thing about Tool. I have been listening to Tool for a few decades now, and I keep finding some small thing that I appreciate each time. It actually never gets old.
Two reactions are a must now: Danny Carey’s drum cam of “Pneuma” and “46 & 2” cover by kids O’Keefe Foundation. Love Tool! Thanks for reacting🙏🏼 You’ll be blown away by both of these and huge views lol. Tool Army Rocks!!
Tool's artisty & composition are unlike almost any other. You always state your thoughts so eloquently! They are a top 5 favorite musical artist for me for sure. They take so many years between albums & you can hear why. They are perfectionists. You can hear literally hear the detail in their music. Great reaction!
There's a video on YT of group of school kids playing this and it is mind blowing, they were just kids. It's called 'Kids Cover 46 and 2 by Tool / O'Keefe Music Foundation'. You really need to watch the video. They forgo the long intro and get straight into the meat of the song. You'll love the one kid that looks to be 9 or 10 yrs old and the lead singer can't be more than 12! Her voice will send chills down your spine and your jaw will be back on the floor. They were scary good.
Kala Rose, the singer in the cover has her own band now: Saving Escape. Also, she sang in another great covers, like 'Pull Me Under' from Dream Theater, 'The Pot' & 'Sober' from Tool at O'Keefe.
One of my favorite bands ever! One of my favorite drummers ever! They are masterful musicians! You could analyze one song for days! The composition is so complex. The time signature changes are sublime. There is a reason why we must wait with bated breath for years for a new Tool album. They strive for perfection in every song. Good is never good enough for these guys! They are one of the most technically proficient bands I have ever heard. The skill & precision of the entire band is mind blowing! I could listen to Tool every day for the rest of my life and I wouldn’t ever get tired of it. Every song is a master class. I love this band so much. People who don’t know the band are missing out on the Mozarts of Rock music. 🤯
What makes Tool one of my favourite bands is all the twists and turns in a single track, one minute it's peaceful the next minute it's all out war and grabbing you by the nuts, so clever, so unique, so complex, so bloody marvellous. Spot on analysis, good on you flower 👌
The way that Justin & Danny take turns being the rhythm of a song to allow each to have their solos in a song is why they're so special. The only comparison I have for it is in really good Jazz.
@@snarkyguy2657 also my other favorite and best band ever, Rush, do that as well. Tool had so much influence from them it’s crazy, geddy and Justin have the same tone and playing style. Danny and Neil love off time and polyrhythms. Adam and Alex have similar guitar tones.
Such a brilliant song- lyrically and musically. Their polyrhythmic tendencies make for insane ear candy. Nothing Tool does is haphazard. It’s completely devoid of any filler material. Everything is carefully orchestrated and the way we all respond to it, whether physically or otherwise, and our reactions are proof.
Yeeessss! I love it... If you get a chance definitely go see them live, it's an amazing experience. The drummer, Danny Carey might be the best drummer on the planet. Can't wait for the next one! ♥
TOOL will get into your soul. They’ll evoke emotions you didn’t even know you had lol. Life changing music. Masters at their craft. TOOL Army forever❤❤❤❤
One of the bands Tool has cited as deep inspiration/influence was King Crimson, particularly what is sometimes called Mark 3 or the "1980s version". Discipline is the first album of that era and arguably the best. "Elephant Man" and "Frame by Frame" are good cuts to start (personal favourite is "Indiscipline").
No one in this band ever 'phones it in' - they are all just world-class, and it's such a pleasure to listen to. It's funny you said they're satisfying because I feel that way too.
your doing a great job in your analysis of tools music stacey........ for someone that is not a musician you are picking up all the right nuance that make tool the heavy weights of modern music ❤
Also great in Tool's catalogue: The Grudge, Lateralus, Parabol/Parabola, Schism, Jimmy, H., Pushit (album version), Ænema, Vicarious, Third Eye. Spiral out, keep going! I'd just suggest foregoing their music videos for reactions though, they're usually disturbing/distracting stop-motion/claymation because the 90s and early 00s were a strange time 😶🌫
What an amazing reaction. And yes sorry not sorry guys....this isn't even in my top 10 Tool Songs probably 🤣 Absolutely a Joy to watch Stacey. You just feel it and it shows a lot.
One of my favorites of all music. So damned good and hard My favorite group is Rush and Tool was influenced by them I think there is a third kind of person. Those w/o a musical ear
Howdy Stacey😊 Since your listening to 46and2 i suggest you check out a Cover of this song: kids cover 46 and 2 by tool/O'keefe music foundation 👍 Have a Good one hun 😉

Lots of great suggestions in other comments for ways to branch out into more Tool. I highly recommend those as well! But let me add one: 10000 Days / Wings for Marie Parts I and II (listen to these back to back for full effect). Maynard's mom suffered a stroke when he was younger, and she was permanently disabled as a result for close to 30 years after. These songs were Maynard's way of coming to terms as a staunch atheist with his mom maintaining her faith to the end, and with the people in her church who were utter hypocrites in his view. Knowing that bit about his life, and knowing how intensely personal these two songs are to him, I can only tell you that there is a moment that brings me to tears every single time - perhaps surprising coming from a band like Tool, but there it is.
the trick with tool, you have to listen multiple times, then after the 4th or 5th time, you really start to see how great these guys are. composure, structurally, these guys are masters at their craft.

Every song is my favorite, used to be this song lol everything is like a movie from the opening to the climax to the finale that brings it round full circle
Nice reaction. Nice reaction. One thing I like about tool is how well they incorporate the riff into the melody. A little tidbit, they never put lyrics in their CD 's. They think reading is a thinking process and they want fans to feel the music first. They believe that reading lyrics while listening and just listening invokes different feelings and responses.
Eulogy, H, The Patient, Vicarious, Push it - Salival version, Lateralus are just a few of their great songs. They don't cut 2 min pop singles, so not much radio play, but a great album band that sellout arenas all over the world.
The intro to your videos always reminds me of; 'Cause I'm a picker, I'm a grinner I'm a lover and I'm a sinner I play my music in the sun I'm a joker, I'm a smoker I'm a midnight toker I sure don't want to hurt no one I'm a picker, I'm a grinner I'm a lover and I'm a sinner I play my music in the sun I'm a joker, I'm a smoker I'm a midnight toker I get my lovin' on the run

Pink Floyd is my fave band, but Tool runs a close second. Third Eye is the Tool song I would recommend, given your appreciation for Pink Floyd. Thanks, as always!
If you’re starting on the Tool journey. Strap yourself in. It is an expansive and elaborately great journey. Get ready Alice. Your Wondeeland will be a crazy place. Welcome to our Tool obsession
Saw Tool live a couple of times and A Perfect Circle a couple of times. I can't think of any songs that aren't brilliant between the two Maynard led bands. Every single person is a phenomenal musician and they're almost perfect live. There's always a unique twist to songs thrown in to keep things interesting.
Maynard is also the lead singer for A Perfect Circle and Puscifer, both great bands to check out as well. Orestes live at red rocks is an amazing song, and an even better performance. If you like tool (duh), you will probably find those bands interesting as well, although nothing compares to tool 😎
Tool live is indeed one of the most amazing experiences I've ever witnessed. Musical therapy, astral traveling, sonic chiropractic. You'd be surprised at how many Tool haters there is though. People who say they're boring and uninteresting, but most people saying that are usually the boring, uninteresting ones who just hop on the Tool hate bandwagon to get some attention. If you want to be totally blown away..... check out the live recording of PUSHIT from the Salival Recordings, absolutely an out of this world experience ❤❤❤
Tool is not a band ,they’re an experience.
One does not simply)lay listen to Tool you experience Tool. I say the same about groups like Floyd and Moody Blues. It’s an adventure

@@rcoopr66. 100% agree with you
Yeah "Pneuma" Live concert is directly focused on the Drummer Danny Carey, this man is a magician, mind blowing performence.
“Pneuma” live from Tool, the video for Vic Firth, is just incredible
Have to agree 110%. If you're curious how Drums are SUPPOSED to be played - cream of the crop there! Pneuma Drumcam!
I was just going to suggest that song with Danny Carey's drum cam
Yes, this one please. Exact name of the video is: "Danny Carey | "Pneuma" by Tool (LIVE IN CONCERT)"
THIS
Danny is a drum God.
The Tool Rabbit Hole is DEEP. One of the most inventive and clever bands of the past 40 years IMO.
