    Skyrim with no fast-travel, is already a feat. Doing it in VR.... That's something else entirely. Well done

      surprisingly, the map is alot smaller than youd think, especially in vr.
      Still an amazing feat that she did it on a treadmill, but imo skyrim without fast travel isnt too unplayable if ur not tryna speedrun or rush things, especially in vr due to the faster walk speed.
      i cant imagine actually walking though, that seems like pain

      I beat the game without fast traveling just because I was too dumb to think of it 😬, even when travelling by horse I would just try to climb a mountain of something and spend hours trying to figure a way to get to my destiny but never even though about just using the roads to get there efficiently

      @@Jokershadow696 The Walking Dead VR doesn't make me sweat, but i guess it really depends on how you play it. Don’t forget that you might lose fat with exercise but you could gain weight from muscles. Don’t hyper fixate on the numbers since they don’t represent the whole picture. Enjoy the journey!

    • @CyberKnightX21
      @CyberKnightX21 Місяць тому +21

      Muscle does weigh more than fat, however if you know the basics of your height, age, and so forth, it's easy to come up with a reasonable weight goal, even if you add muscle mass. Goals are always good to have when working out, especially if you are starting out from a place of needing encouragement.

    • @Trastlol
      @Trastlol Місяць тому +58

      @@CyberKnightX21 I think what they mean is that sometimes change can feel slow if you only look at the scale. Because even though fat will be lost, some muscle will also be gained. So that she shouldn't feel discouraged if the weight loss stops for a bit from time to time.

      Completely agree. I have tried explaining this to multiple people and most of them did not understand it.

    The main reason I bought mine is because I moved into a place where my desktop and VR setup was in a much smaller room and I literally had just enough space to strand and stretch my arms without hitting a wall or desk/bed. So I thought this would be a good buy, and it ceratinly has been really cool to freely play VR with all intensity without ever once hitting my desk. I couldn't even keep myself from doing that a few times when I had a ton of space to walk some. It's ceratinly expensive, but it could be useful. Hopefully VR tech will continute going forward and we'll get beter, higher tech options in the future

    I think if I had it over again I would buy the core instead, cheaper, you don't have to disassemble the whole back which has multiple screws and bolts just to adjust the height and the vehicle hub seems to limit the bottom half of your range by about 10% (So i removed that and disabled haptics as it seems to mainly only vibrate when you are selecting options in the menu).

    The weight loss update is awesome 👌 👏 👍 Might I suggest you use very fine grit polishing pads to polish the plastic base of the scratched catwalk to restore the glossy surface. It will reduce the dust shedding that creates the puddy. And restoring the shine will increase the slick effect for the shoes.

    Awesome work!! Not that you asked,but some tips to lose weight and keep it off for those who may not know:
    -do resistance training, the muscle mass speeds up your metabolism and passively burns fat.
    -eat more protein, ideally close to 1g per pound of target body weight in combination with resistance training, and try to eat more like the Mediterranean diet. Avoid unnatural sugars/processed foods/deep fried as much as possible, this will help to reduce inflammation. But don’t completely resist the foods that you like, otherwise you will probably binge eat later.
    -don’t go too crazy with the cardio in the grand scheme of your training overall, as it tends towards slowing down your metabolism for the sake of endurance.
    -try to get good sleep and have good sleep hygiene. Lack of sleep will slow down your recovery/gains. Ideally you want to keep your sleep schedule consistent and lay in the bed for 9 hours to get that solid 8 hours of sleep.
    -try to avoid/reduce unnecessary stress as much as possible, it’s the same as lack of sleep.
    Good luck and good health to all of you!

    remember, your diet isnt just about the types of food you eat, it's also about the quantity of food you're eating, if you're eating a ton of food, no matter how healthy, you're going to be storing it in your body, it's all about calories in calories out

    I appreciated how you made an effort to convey a balanced and considerate summary of your journey and process. Probably everyone knows what personal failures or disappointment feel like (I sure as heck do), which makes your video so relatable. But your commitment to continuing the work (and play) makes it inspirational.
    This was a great testimonial to the power of gamification. At points in my life, I found the time and motivation to bang out 10-30 hours a week of training for different sports or other physical activities, but that has always required active effort to move away from a default lowest energy state of laziness.
    Games, OTOH, have always had such a lower inertia or static friction to overcome that launching a game is very nearly the same as doing nothing for me. It's absolutely not the same as even walking, but I'll spend an hour or two daily for weeks at a stretch, wrestling with my steering wheel on sim racing rally courses. Even that much is even to get me sweaty (in both fitness and meme senses).
    I don't have a rig suitable for VR right now, but I've been curious about VR treadmills for a few years now. It would really add to the milsim / open world games I like (Arma 3, Space Engineers, GTA V). None of them directly support VR that I'm aware of (though I know there was a mod tech demo for Space Engineers), but their sequels or future games in the same categories probably will support VR. Heck, or even VR games that I'm just not aware of.
    At my Arma 3 peak, I would easily clock 5-10 km on foot in a single session, mostly spent just holding down the W key to walk, jog, or sprint. In a week on a treadmill, that finger press could be converted into 40+ km of walk/jog time, which is definitely not what I'm currently doing weekly. :P Even if I wimp out and and lazily seek rides vehicles more often, it'd still be a lot of walking. :D
    A game with physics simulation for the player character would be rad, making it so that the player's VR interaction can affect actions like stumbling, falling down, standing up, etc. (burpees and Turkish get-ups are a big part of my workouts)

    My suggestion for weight vest is a mil-sim style work out plate carrier, they make "armor" shaped weights that are basically just painted steel of varying thickness depending on the weight you want, they are extra nice because plate carriers are designed to be worn 12+ hours when you properly adjust them on yourself. Also because they are solid they cant leak anything.
