- Today I will show you how to Install macOS Ventura 13 on an Unsupported Mac, MacBook iMac, Mac Mini, Mac Pro - Basically ANY MAC that has been made from around 2012 onwards. However I will show you how you can check if your Mac is comptible with Monterey.
To be clear this guide shows you how to install Mac OS Ventura, it is up to you to backup your data first and use Ventura at your own risk, I am not responsible for any loss of data etc...For me as you can see I installed Ventura and it worked for me, however due to unforeseen circumstances I can't help with all install steps if it doesn't work out for you. I also can't support or guide you on the use of additional Apps you may install like for example Office (word, powerpoint, excel), Final Cut Pro, Photoshop etc... they may work - they may not. However do help others in the comments if you get Apps to work what other are struggling with.
Please make sure your Mac is Compatible here;

Using OpenCore; I have successfully installed macOS Ventura 13 onto a 2012 MacBook Pro and you can to on your Intel Mac!
You will need a USB stick and and the OpenCore Legacy patcher.
The USB stick I have used and works with MacOS Ventura is this one;
UK - amzn.to/2UKD7EW
You can download this from OpenCore Legacy website;

wow amazing working this apps🤯🤯🤔
Sure Matt
Successful install on my 2013 iMac. So far I’m finding issues with Zoom and Wakelet. Safari doesn’t work for these even after resetting password, etc. Other apps are fine. I ended up downloading Chrome for the two. Works fine now. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
17:20 Do we need to must erase the HD before installing the MacOS Ventura ?Anyone confirm ?
Glad that this is possible. A lot of people who can’t upgrade their mac at the moment will be thankful! The way the video is divided into segments will be for sure helpful
Glad it has helped, I like to make one of these videos every year
@@MattTalkTech Does it have any bugs I should be aware of before upgrading?
Apple won't sell me Logic Pro bc my mac is 4 months too old.. Seriously, ridiculous.

FYI: Solve for a Problem I Had Near the End
First, thanks Matt. Even five months later I was able to use this comprehensive tutorial to upload Ventura on my mid-2011 iMac. I ran into one problem which I think was a tiny oversight or just part of one of the more recent updates maybe.
The Problem:
At the very end I got a second pop up for moving the open core to the hard disk, the same way it happens here 24:22. Any restart would happen from the flash and prompt that pop up again. If I removed the flash a restart would go to my hard disk without the EFI and I’d have to do a hard reset because it wasn’t recognizing any operating system on the hard disk.
Here’s the fix:
Put the flash back in and restart, letting the Mac restart to the EFI on the flash. Then follow the steps as Matt prompts at 21:58 to 23:18. THIS TIME, hold down option on the reboot. (If you read the reboot screen it tells you to do that, you won’t believe how many times I couldn’t get this because I just never read it 🤦🏾♀️) Now pick the EFI that’s on your hard disk (make sure you don’t confuse it with the EFI from your flash or the hard disk itself). Then that’s it. It’ll start up as normal and you shouldn’t get the pop up again. Then you can safely remove your flash and you’ll never need it to start up again. You will not need to press option on the next restart either, it’ll automatically start up on the EFI from the hard disk.
I hope this helps anyone having the same issue. Sorry if someone else already explained this, I couldn’t find a comment that did. But either way, it’s engagement for Matt. 😂
Thanks again for this tutorial Matt. Open Core can be intimidating for a layman if you venture on your own. I thought my mid-2011 was a paperweight but it’s almost like brand new! ❤
Thanks for this. I am having a similar problem. However, at the end of supposedly moving the open core to the hard disk a pop up appeared for just a moment and before I could do anything with it, the screen started to load again. I am an absolute layman. But, it seems like it just automatically rebooted. So, I didn't have an option to hold option during the second reboot. If it happens again I may remove the USB and try again - but holding the option key when rebooting from the efi on the hard disk (hopefully its there). thanks.
Maybe you could tell me what should I do if oclp window doesn’t appear after installation
Thank you so much! Tried this on my Mac mini 2012, it worked just like a dream. Your video did help me out like no other did. Keep up the great work, you are a legend!
what did you install on the mini ? is it a 6.2?
Amazing to see my LAte 2011 Macbook Pro having it's second life! Had some issue in the end with EFI booting only from USB, but I also forgot to hold OPTION and choose the right EFI to boot! Worked out great in the end, so huge thanks Matt!!!
what is your mac spec?
This worked like a charm! I am a professional photographer, and I have not been able to use the most recent versions of Lightroom and Photoshop until now. Thank you for helping me to stay in line with my competitors, and to be able to utilize the most recent versions of the software that I need
hows been going? its works great?
I plan to buy a 13/14 pro in 2022-Good luck for 500K subscribers Matt!.
Wow,this is so cool,I can’t believe that you can get the latest software on such an old device, thanks for your video Matt,it was very clear and informative,I appreciate your efforts-Keep it up!!.
Thank you and glad it helped
Yay, I got my new (refurbished) 2013 imac to use Ventura using this method! When I purchased it I had no idea that I would be unable to use all of the software I need, such as Microsoft office etc. with Catalina. I am a total novice with tech stuff and ran into a few hiccups along the way but was ultimately successful. Thank you so much!!
Great job. Worked beautifully on my 2015. The only thing you left out is being patient and don’t rush. I jumped the gun a few times and had to backtrack.
hey, do you still run it on your 2015? how is it perfoming? how is the battery life? i would be happy to hear your feedback😊
Absolute legend. MacBook Pro (2015) which was starting not to be supported by some programs (Dropbox being the main issue). Took a couple of attempts in the middle of the process but really easy to follow the whole way through. Best to have UA-cam running on your phone. Thanks!
What did you choose for a 2015 MacBook Pro. Im struggling to find one be that works. All saying I need el captain to install
Does Xcode work on your machine?
Thank you for a clear and simple video. My first MAC (an old 2012 Mini i7 quad I picked up for under a hundred US bucks). Been a PC guy since it was first released probably 40 years ago and wanted to experience "the other side." Went from Catalina to Big Sur and now Ventura.
Is it working without any glitches? 👀
HOWS IT RUNNING
My first Mac was in 1984. Never bought another one until I had to for business reasons. PCs rule.
@@mrsesterhaus6515He's too busy enjoying himself on Ventura to answer 😅
I did the exact thing, I got the mac mini 6.2 frozen at some point on the apple logo and I am now trying again. Used the disk utility to erase the 4TB samsung SSD I put inside. And hope now the process will go to the end....
Your video is very easy to follow, and allowed my 2016 laptop finally jump to the current OS to match the rest of my computer on the house. I can't say thank you enough I'll send you a little money
Thank you for this! Installed Ventura on my 2014 Mac Mini, and now it's a perfect secondary computer!
I have MacBook Pro (Mid 2015) and this video was very helpful. For those of you who have same laptop I suggest follow same steps and install first latest version of the Monterey OS, then after you finish the installation, your laptop should detect that there is a Ventura macOS update, so just install it naturally through the update. Thanks for the video, Matt, it was very helpful.
Then your laptop is officially supported, meaning there is no need to do any of these steps. Weird though, since I thought Ventura couldn't officially be supported on devices released before 2017
Thank you
Not sure how you managed to do this as Ventura isn't officially supported on Mid 2015 MacBook Pro's ?
@@ThePeter567 i get ventura auto updates from monterey on a 2011 imac maybe its the fact that it spoofs ur bios
Did this on my Late 2012 Mac Mini i5, In some areas it feels just a bit slow but I could just be having high expectations.
Absolutely the best tutorial ... really really good, this is what I've used to carry out the first time and then also again when my mac got stuck in a boot loop after I tried to update it 🙈 so started again from scratch
ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT explanation! Plus your distinct speaking voice was soothing and gave me the confidence I needed to understand everything you explained. Definitely going to subscribe now! Thank you, MATT! ♥♥♥♥
Amazingly I just keep trying and now works like a charm. You are a savior for so many of us. Thank you!
Finishing the install now! Thanks for the information. A few things changed slightly but easy to understand using your video.
Fantastic tutorial , just installed ventura onto a 2012 mac mini all went smoothly thank you so much.
This guy is the best. Detailed description and knowledge I ever seen. Thank you
It took me 1 day and a half to do it cause I rushed the process but this is a great video ! If you are going to do this recommend to do it when you have time. Don’t stare at the laptop or you will get anxious and rush the process ! It works ! I just completed it
Thank you so much for this. Very easy to follow clear explanation. Worked like a charm
1st time computer was getting kinda hot. So I run it a second time. Everything worked as it should. Fully supported by 2016 MacBook Pro 13inch. This is so great. Thank you!
Super helpful and easy to follow! I upgraded my late 2013 iMac with no difficulties at all! Thanks Matt!
what specs did you have on your imac? cause i want to do it too but im worried because of the hardrive.
You need to be very patient towards the end of the process as it takes awhile for the final part where it seems to restart a few times but then it goes very much like your directions. I am very pleased with the results. All the software from my 2017 IMAC works flawlessly and fast on the 2012 MacBook. Nice job!
Mine is restarting for 10th time..😂 fingers crossed🤞🏾
I think that must be what is happening to mine right now. 😅Going to give it some time. Thanks for the advice.

I wasn't sure if I needed or just wanted to purchase a new computer but I am so very happy with your tutorial. I just updated the MacBook Air with a new SSD and Ventura with your help. It works like a charm. I'm so excited to get my iMac upgraded and updated to Ventura. Thank you so much Matt!

I bought a used Mac mini late 2012 with i7 16 ram in cheap price and now upgraded latest Ventura.
I’m really enjoying my Mac mini and thanks again for your tutorial 😊
I just bought the exact one. Although opencore fails on me after downloading Ventura when I'm trying to write it to the USB. Can you tell me what is you had before Ventura?
absolutely incredible. I had a 2013 imac. I had to use another bootable installer to get it up to El Capitan. Then followed this guy to the letter. Some of the screens looked a wee bit different but common sense tells you where to go. Couldn't download the GUI patch on the machine. But downloaded it on a current imac, copied to stick used that it worked fine. Can't believe it!! my auld 2013 Mac is now running Ventura 13.6.3. It was a 3.2 ghz intel core i5 with 16gb ram and 1 TB hard drive. Outrageous to even think about throwing it away.... well sir I thank you from the bottom of my heart for this. Thank you....
I also need to install El Capitan first 🙃
Which installer did you use for that?
Is there any issue after you upgrade to unsupported OS? Such as slow performance etc
Thank You for the excellent tutorial! I did a Flawless install of Ventura 13,1 on 27 inch late 2012 iMac (upgraded to 1Tb SSD internal hard drive, and 24 Gb of RAM), only needed to manually install the opencore patcher onto the Hard drive, as the popup never appeared! The iMac is Working perfectly fast and without any errors! Thank You Very Much
hi, did not work on my iMac late 2012, however could be because my hard drive its not SSD. my question is did you try with the old hard drive first or upgraded to SSD first? thank you

I used OCLP on my mid 2009 MacBook Pro that was collecting dust and it’s very much useable with Mac OS Monterey. Sure it’s not powerful in 2023 but 2009 hardware running strong in 2023 is something very special.
Thanks to the devs at OCLP.
Please don't use acronyms that people don't know. It's not hard to type out OpenCore ....

Got it running great on my late 2013 fusion drive imac. Alongside replacing the 3tb hdd with a 2tb ssd. Super fun project.
I know it was a while ago, but did you install Ventura to your original Fusion drive? Of to the added 2tb SSD?

What happens after I upgrade my MacBook Pro to Ventura, will I be able to update the OS using System Update?
Yes, further smaller Ventura updates can be performed through the System Preferences.

@@RBBSN Nope, no bugs. Although, I’ve noticed that Xcode builds are either very slow or not working at all, which I think is due to how slow the HDD is and that it doesn’t have much RAM. Hi Matt, the Ventura 13.2 works perfect on my iMac 27" Late 2013. Now there is a new update 13.2.1 available on the Systems Setting, would it work now if I just start the new auto update or rather fail as my iMac is officially unsupported? greetings from Poland.
Did you try it? curious to know the answer too.
@@arethusa71 Yes, tried now and suggest you don't do this. All the patchers are being deleted while installing update from original source. So graphics settings don't work, system needs to be installed again.
Great instructions. I successfully installed Ventura on my late 2015 iMac, but for some reason, it will not boot up without the USB installer stick inserted in one of the USB ports. Is this normal? Once I put the stick in, it gives me the option to boot up either from the internal HD, or the USB stick. It boots completely normal into Ventura on the internal drive, and once booted up, I can remove the stick. It just seems to need the stick in there. Just wondering if this is normal behavior, or I screwed something up when trying do the installation??
Booting without USB drive
Download OpenCore Legacy Patcher
Change Patcher settings as you'd like
•Build OpenCore again
•Install OpenCore to internal drive instead of the USB
Reboot holding Option, and select the internal EFI
Hope this is useful, at 21:55 he gets the pop up to install the patches that allow you to boot up without usb stick. I never got that pop up, so I had to open the OpenCore app again. Once at the main menu, click Build and Install OpenCore - the same thing you did to install it on the USB originally, but this time on the hard drive: Then go back to the video where Matt left off after he clicks OK on the pop up - and you should be at the same spot where you can follow exactly what he does.
Maybe you might want to reinstall it from the USB stick. The USB stick contains necessary boot files that aren't on your computer yet. When you first installed Ventura, there should have been a windows that showed up that would install those files from the USB stick to the computer, but maybe you closed the window by accident. There might be a way to get these files onto the Mac from the USB stick without reinstalling, but I don't know how to do that yet.
It's the same for me. At the very end, the last step was omitted, the window that should pop up does not pop up by itself, and therefore the booting is not good. I don't know what the solution could be.
This is exactly what’s going on with mine, no pop up came up after the install
Thanks You Matt Talk Tech !! Absolutely the best tutorial

why so long? I am doing it on a mini 6.2 but it stays stuck on a restart at some point and the screen slightly flickers...then screen is black and then goes again on the same progress level withiout making progress....any experience like this that it was taking 4 hours???
Congrats on your new place!
It works like a charm and IF YOU FOLLOW step by step the instructions you will have Ventura on a MacBook Air (2017)
