Usually anime like this have great characters but an average plot or vice versa. But Vinland has both which makes it so dynamic. I’m definitely gonna start reading the manga when the anime ends. I love how most reactors assume Askelaad will say "you're my friend" but instead says "youre, MY ONLY friend". Makes it hit so much harder knowing that. You feel for Bjorn but also Askelaad. All his men betrayed him and the only other one with him still is Thorfinn and we all know he aint his friend.
This episode was sad, not in a cheap gut punch makes me cry sad... more like thinking about it an afterwards made me depressed, it was a heavy episode from Leif and Thorfinns hello to Askeladd and Bjorns goodbye

The things thorfinn did and do will backfire on him when he grows up tho.
AMV Neeto masterfully put man, Thorfinn has tunnel vision, he’s so focused on Askeladd to realize their was entire conspiracy to assassinate his father. Also, Thofinn is to childish to realize he’s becoming the very thing his father fought so hard to prevent him from becoming. Killing Askeladd won’t bring his father back, nor will it grant him peace.
It's not Thorfinn who said it, it was Askeladd, it's known that Askeladd doesn't take Thorfinn's motivations very seriously, that's what makes a good contrast between the two.

This hit the hardest because Bjorn really did see Askleadd as a true friend, a companion. But Askeladd's mindset of hating the Danes (and himself) dominated the most. As soon as he pierced Bjorn and realized his true intentions of truly wanting to be friends with him, that hit Askeladd the most, that regret of seeing things the wrong way. Now he's super pissed and Thorfinn is about to catch the meanest fade.

This show is so well done, I’m shocked that I care as much as I do for these characters especially after all the horrible things they have done to innocent people. Just a fantastic show all around.
So fun fact, Askeladd threw his scabbard to the ground because he doesn't expect to live the fight with Thorfinn. No idea if he actually dies or not, just there's no other reason to throw your scabbard if you think you're not gonna use it anymore.

Bjorn the way he died is why it hit. If he would of died during the fight when he took the Shroom it would of had less impact. That was mostly Thorkell and Thorfinn we had eyes on. This episode hit me too we all know Thorfinn is not dying. He is protected by plot till he does enough so i want it to be a stale mate or that will be another downer i feel we need Askeladd at least until this king is dead. Leif i have no feelings on maybe because i became so detached from him being out the loop so long. Damn it i like Askeladd he got so much Charisma.

This is actually the Prologue of Vinland Saga. The last episode the anime will cover is actually called "End of the Prologue" in the Manga. the actual "Vinland Saga" only begins after that.
For me, Bjorn's death paled in comparison to all the tragedy that already happened in the show. That coupled to the fact that I don't feel attatched to any of the characters involved, the most I felt is that the scene took too long to end.

exactly dude, I usually tear up with emotional scenes but this one was so... profund it hit me in a different way
Thorfinn keeps getting son’d over and over again. That “I’ll play with you” at the end made Thorfinn’s entire motivation seem so childish.
