First time he swore in the name of his father Olaf for the duel with Thor (which he won unfairly). Second time he swore in the name of his ancestor Artorius that he will allow everyone to go and kept his promise to Thor. Shows Askeladd hate toeards his father
I'm glad you pointed that out because the first time watching it I felt like I noticed a difference in the oaths he made but couldn't put my finger on it.

Bjorn was furious, because he knows Askeladd the best. Bjorn is the right hand man, he understands him as much as it´s posibble with someone like Askeladd. And he understood that he was serious and Bjorn couldn´t accept that. He wasn´t ready to follow someone else so he interfered and went for Thorfinn.

Just realized they used the same song from here for the Snake vs Thorfinn fight.
I think thors death was well deserve since you cannot escape sin just by being leaving your past after all he killed thousands of people. But the only difference he died as a true warrior with peace on his heart
he just didnt have enough time to repent and repay for everything, but he was on the path to being a true warrior already. Thorfinn rn is carrying out his father's legacy and its so good. So saying the Thors deserves to die is saying that Thorfinn does too and that Einar shouldve choked his ass out in S2EP4
