Thanks so much for the feature, siN!
I’ve played Engineer since I started in 2015 and it’s honestly been a blast. Advice for newer players? Even if all seems lost and your stuff keeps dying, remember that so long as you are alive everything can be rebuilt. Don’t die on Defense, your life is precious - if you have to abandon ship, don’t be afraid to do so to save your skin! Passive-aggression on Engineer is your best tool, learn to use it and learn how to work WITH your Sentry, not just for it.
EDIT:
There’s quite a few people saying that I’m building in the open too often. I do that when I “soft hold” a point: the Sentry provides more of a distraction than an additional teammate so that people waste their time on it rather than my teammates or myself. Hard holding I play in much more conservative places but when I want to waste enemy time while not committing to a point slapping a Sentry down usually does just that, that way I can retreat and set up for the long haul when things do inevitably go south.
Will keep in mind that
I first started playing as engi and I recommend it to newer players, because with engi you can be useful even with bad aim and you can improve with time.
Hi StAr. I had a few questions about these demo submissions:
1. Why did you submit a demo (the last map) where you only had 5 teammates, 3 of which were either Spy or Sniper? You were constantly on the backfoot and never had a chance to even build a second tele. There didn't seem to be a lot to learn from, other than "keep falling back when you're getting rolled".
2. Why did you keep putting a sentry down the major sight line near the 4th PL CP on the last map? Seems like a waste of time, especially since your team comp was pretty poor.
3. You have a great sense of knowing when to fall back and saving your dispenser. Why do you seem to put little emphasis on getting a teleporter back up?
4. Often times your sentry is getting destroyed and you don't pull out your wrangler to reduce incoming damage. Why? I figure the life of the sentry is greater than getting some revenge crits.
Thanks for your submission. It's great to see more engie mains out there!

TBH I record everything and was considering stopping rec but server filled up. Pier is a weird map in that beyond First you don’t really need a Defensive Tele.
I put Sentry on the van on Last because it keeps people from bombing our shed, which is really important. It also sees the most area so people can’t just bomb over and kill anyone defending there. Even if it goes down, you can just throw another one back up so it’s never really an issue.
On Badwater, killing the Soldier/Demo behind us and rebuilding Tele wasn’t nearly as important as holding point especially considering how little time was left. When you don’t have a lot of time to defend and people are throwing themselves at cart you should prioritize point defense over support.
I play such that I don’t Wrangle unless I need to focus a target or preserve a gun in a do or die scenario. Now that Sigafoo Save is gone and has been for years, tanking a shielded Sentry isn’t as effective when there are multiple targets around that it can kill just as easily un-Wrangled. It helps me preserve attention to fewer tasks as opposed to having to worry about building upkeep AND killing the immediate threat AND killing the people that come after AND not dying to anyone pushing me after Sentry dies. In cases of pushes like that, I tank Sentry without Wrangler so it can do the job of individual focus for me so I can devote my full attention to gamestate and keeping myself alive.

One of the most useful things you can practice as Engineer *is* aim. Oftentimes preserving your life comes down to scrappy retreats where you may have to fight your way out and being able to survive engagements is super important (my aim is garbage tbh but it’s good enough that I can survive most encounters provided I’m not caught by surprise).
05:52 "y'all gonna have a real bad day" that's line is so perfect when he have 30 revenge crit
or..." gonna have a bad time 💀" megalomania
you know this engi is something else when you see even his PDA is special
How?! 😮
this guy could go 100-0 and still be called an uncle dane clone
that's the TF2 community for ya, we that dumb
Is he not an uncle dane clone?
@@dyslexicbatnam1350star had skin in the game long before uncle dane even got his youtube shoes on
2:44 that random crit almost got him
5:06 had me laughing
I wish whenever you get crits from the frontier justice the engineer says "You done incurred my wrath, son"

2:43 demoman flying like a plastic bag
Bro really said "WEEEEEEEEE"
Hats off to people to still wear the engineer's cap cosmetic.
It's pretty amazing, that all it takes to win is an engineer on the team that plays decently and knows where to place stuff
but it is much better when they protect that engineer who knows where to put things in their place😜
hehe
9:46 Pootis on Fire !!
That scary crtt rocket at 2:45
Where in hell do you find these voice lines? because I absolutely love them.
Search for the official tf2 wiki, there you can find these voice lines under Responses and Voice commands.
real deal random crit 2:45 right there lmao
Very impressive. Half of the time he died because his team was too busy bickering on chat and he was defending that point alone.
The life of an Engineer
DAMN 2 COLLECTORS ITEMS I've been trying to get my hands on a collectors baby face blaster but that wrangler in red is such a mind changer
6:08 Bro that sniper was so damn stupid to run right into your whole team, WITH a sentry- just to kill one engineer.
Just played a pub with this guy! He was really good, go figure
As another engineer main this is nice
As yet another engineer main, this is indeed nice
As yet another another engineer main, this is very nice
Happy to oblige :)
I 4th this, keep moving that gear up fellow Engie mains! 🛠
As a fellow engineer main, I agree that this is quite nice
Engies like him taught me where to build, and when they weren't there I just tried to rely on my memory on the best spots and possibly try to play some of my own joker cards. Last one could have been when we needed to yank up something surprising.
The more "peaceful" it was the better, thats why I liked some custom maps more. Which were just about endless game and who just happened to have tougher team. They were nice to just chill out to the deep ice level, and then get back into norm games to get roasted, so I could serve everyone better.
6:41 напомнил Евро тур красной команды 1 часть
As a Medic main, it pains me to see the Medic ignoring the Engi's revenge crit calls. He's giving up free kills.
9:48 yo y mi compa saliendo de una pelea con un pyro xD
he isn't STAR_ but he is still great
9:11 A good Tool
Watching him place sentries at disadvantageous locations hurts me so much!
What locations? To be honest i think that every sentry spot he used had a good purpose
Oh look it’s my jag
For a 3.2k engineer, he sure placed almost no incentive to put down teleporters, which would've helped him with defending each point. Because his teammates took forever to get back up to the front line, he was constantly pushed back.
On the final map, I don't get why he kept building sentries that were visible down the giant sight line of the 4th PL CP. Such a waste of time. But he did have great instincts to know when to fall back and save his dispenser (arguably one of the most time-intensive buildings to erect).
Not saying I would've done a better job. I certainly would've done a few things different. One of them being, asking the team to switch off of 2-Spy, 2-Sniper when defending last on a 6 person team. Kind of an expected roll when you have no Heavies, Soldiers, or Demomen defending the front lines. Almost makes me wonder why they decided to submit that demo, because there were really not that many great moments, due to constantly being on the backfoot being on a far inferior team.
Maybe I'll just put my money where my mouth is and submit a demo. :)
I submitted because I felt like it was important to emphasize that no matter how hard you try, sometimes you just can’t win.
On Pier, you don’t really need a Tele on any point other than First simply because spawns are so close and the points are so congested for the defense toward Last. Especially on teams where you are dealing the majority of damage prioritizing your Level 3 is super valid, particularly if you have no real holding Classes.
On Badwater, the timer was low and I wasn’t going to risk losing the hold to rebuild Tele at spawn. Watching the objective comes first always, and I knew I could hold the point with little support at that stage of the round.
As for putting Sentries in the open like on the Van on Pier Last, one thing to keep in mind especially on lower damage teams is the Sentry’s AoE. Having it cover as much space as possible is super important in order to keep your other teammates alive, and getting it spammed out isn’t an issue since you can slam another one down. Building under shed isn’t great since it closes you off from being able to fight back without a retreat option, and even though the Sentry is often in the open it’s worth having it be spammed down than having the enemy team collapse on it and winning the push immediately.
Man this guys life 💀💀💀💀
*Taking notes*

fr I thought STAR_ was coming back to tf2
keep the work going!
i know this dude hes a friend of mine i thought about it where i saw nevermore
Ha ha texas man goes brrr
30 revenge crits is DIABOLICAL!
bro found out how to build a skill dispenser (costs 8 years and 3.2k hour play time)
Let's do this Texas Style~
Hey, buddy, what are you think about try battle engineer on DeGroot keep? Or soldier-knight (sticky jumper, mannthreats, half-zatoichi)?
Sounds nice
The Frontier Justice is a roller coaster of emotions, your baby dies, you hunt down the son of a bitch who killed your baby and you either get that juicy crit and avenge your baby or you wiff the shot and perish horribly.

That's my boy!
Freely gaves up turrets on by one on the point C, is this part of the strategy or?

I ain't that good at engineer :/
Thanks for price of items
Nice 😆
Margaret Thatcher escaped the underworld 😭
I liked his persistence in building sentries, but I noticed he's not very spy aware and is lucky to not get backstabbed. He should be looking behind himself constantly. He also was eclectic on when to use his dispenser to heal/get ammo and when he instead went for a health/ammo pack. He also left his sentry to die despite being behind cover/protected/healthy even when the sentry had no kills, was lvl 2/3, and was one rocket/pipe away from dying. This happened way too often. However, I like his audacity, and it worked in his favor. I also think his sentry and dispenser placement were very practiced & quick. Additionally, he put metal into a sentry when he didn't have guaranteed metal at the ready, which meant his sentry was only halfway to an upgrade, with no metal for him to repair it if it encountered a soldier or demo or a DF pyro. This engineer has some good sentry gameplay but I cannot in good faith praise his engineer gameplay.

The name Star is taken in the TF2 community. It's retired. Get a new one.
