  • In todays video we take a look at the Acer Predator Z35P 35 Inch #UltraWide Monitor. It has a 21:9 Aspect Ratio and resolution of 3440 x 1440p or UWQHD (Quad HD) as some like to call it.
    The Monitor has an input lag of only 4ms with a VA Panel and refresh rate up to 120Hz oh, and did I forget to mention its #G-SYNC
    The contrast is amazing with Vertical Alignment Panels!
    After taking a look at the #AcerPredator Z35p we have a quick comparison against some other monitors in the same £700/$850 price range and compare.
    We Compare it to;
    Samsung LC34J791WTUXEN 35" Curved UltraWide Monitor - Creator Focused QLED Monitor 60HZ (£549.00/$700.00)
    Alienware AW3418DW 34" Curved IPS LED Backlit Gaming Monitor
    120HZ G-SYNC 4ms Input Lag (£799.00/$999.00)
    AOC AGON AG352UCG6 35" Curved Monitor VA Panel 120Hz G-SYNC
    4ms Input Lag (£679.00/£830.00)
    ASUS ROG STRIX XG35VQ Curved 35" UWQHD Monitor VA Panel 100Hz FreeSync 1ms Input Lag (£749.00/$975.00)

    Very nice review. I have same monitor. But now is in service Acer. I had Issue with analog audio output 3.5mm. I hear only Hugh frequencies. And next Issue is the first row of pixels on top. There Are blinking.

    bought this in sept. 2020 in CAN, (hard to find + bad CAN$ = tres expensive), However I now have a 3080 to run it and It's finally in it's glory. Getting over 100fps in RDR2. Cyberpunk is the only game right now that puts this beast down to 50-60 fps @ full everything (RTX too). So I tweaked settings and now I'm sitting @ 75-80fps. This thing is a monster and you need a monster to drive it. I love it.

    I had an absolute nightmare of a time with one of these, it had really awful black smearing and backlight flicker with G-sync on. The screen would literally drop frames in-game for absolutely no reason whatsoever. Comparing it to my ROG monitor was night and day. I Spent MONTHS communicating with Acer and NVidia trying to fix it but didn't get anywhere. I was starting to think that that was just how ultrawide monitors behaved. Sold it on a £300 loss and bought the X34P IPS version. one of the best decisions I've ever made in my consumer life. The only thing I do miss are the black levels but I'd trade that in a second for this.

    Hows the ghosting issue? I think one of the key reason people pick IPS over VA ?..

    • @ApplicableTech
      @ApplicableTech  4 роки тому +2

      Although ghosting is present - its only noticeable when dragging windows around the desktop whilst looking for it. In games however, I think a combination of clever colour engineering and G-sync has masked it well as its unnoticeable. The colour accuracy is quite poor on this monitor - Possibly a consequence of masking the ghosting. It is a very good monitor for the price though. hope this helps 👍

    Hi to you. I like you play race sims ACC AMS 2 and so on, so what i would like to know is, how tall is the monitor without stand so using Vesa mount, top to bottom, as it is going to fit on my Simlabs P1 rig and i need to know if i can still mount it just above my DD motor. My current monitor is 14" top to bottom. Also will my RTX 2080 be enough to get max settings in game. Appreciate any advise before i buy

    • @ApplicableTech
      @ApplicableTech  4 роки тому

      just done some quick measurements - the total height of the unit is 15.2" - from the base to the bottom of the VESA mount is 5.2". I run the founders edition 2080 and was hitting 90-100 FPS on the highest settings for ACC. Its a sound monitor for Sim Racing but triples were better in terms of my own race time. I hope his helps - keep Racing! 👍

    Enjoyed the review. Came upon it accidently as I was looking for advice on another monitor. I've had this monitor for 2 years now and have enjoyed most games such as Witcher, Tomb raider and even Anthem. Recently though i've become addicted to Apex legends and have been looking to swap out monitor for a 24.5" TN or IPS panel with a 240Hz refresh rate. BUT: after seeing this review and weighing up costs i'm now undecided. If I had the space I would have both as an option but the z35 just takes the whole desk up. My rig is capable with an i7 9700 and RTX 2080ti so no problems there, and the RPG's look fantastic, but believe with the FPS BRs Im at a major disadvantage, Screen just too big and i loose focus.....Is anyone else having similar experience?

    • @ApplicableTech
      @ApplicableTech  4 роки тому +2

      you could always reduce the screen size to 2560 x 1440 through Nvidia Control panel when playing FPS's but would still be stuck at 120hz. "Even Anthem" brilliant!

    I had this monitor and it was horrendous. Constant, extremely noticeable flickering and awful black smearing. Sent it back for an RMA and was basically told that it was normal lol. the only thing I did like was the contrast ratio. I sold it and got the X34p IPS version.

      Do not use 120hz it's the root cause of that, just 100hz with overdrive to high

      the 34 inch is better because is IPS and this one the one on the video is 35 inches but it is VA. IPS is way better than VA just one inch less that is nothing. I will be buying the 34" i am a fan of IPS monitors.

    Ugh man, to be honest your review was not that great. I mean, seriously, what is that? Youre comparing some specs of the Z35P to similar screens and then youre like "I think it's also 100 HZ.... might even be 120 Hz... I dont know x y z but it should be" etc. Damn man either look it up or don't mention it, but don't give us your personal assumtion. I came here to compare between the Z35P and other models to decide which to buy and when you mentioned you would compare it to similar priced models I was realy excited, but everything you said was more like your subjective view instead of an objective statement. I don't want to hate you but please do better next time

      Not gonna disagree with that - was my third ever video and genuinely appreciate that you've taken the time to give very relevant feedback. I do intend to make another video about the monitor as I've started to notice some quirks that have developed over time - some of which have been mentioned in other comments on this vid. Again, thanks for the feedback 👍

    • @VeroloxLP
      @VeroloxLP 3 роки тому +2

      @@ApplicableTech Yeah, sorry man for maybe expressing myself a little bit harsh, but you definitely have the potential to make some good reviews and stuff, but as I said the fact that you were just reading out the specs mentioned on amazon and filling every gap with "might be/i think/should be" was very frustrating for someone like me, who is looking for a hands down comparison of those monitors in this price range.
      And by the way, please also include some measurements and facts that manufactures DONT mention, like REAL pixel respone time and thus motion blur/ghosting artefacts. Most "Gaming monitors" are being advertised with high refresh rates but cant realy display them without visual artefacts like coronas (google it :D). So in the end, many of these 144, 120 or even 100 Hz monitors only reach these refresh rates with high overclocking which looks awful. Thats what we need to know, finding out about the advertised curvature or refreshrate is easy :)
