I noticed you said the colors are bad, which is fine and matches all the other reviews on youtube. However, most other reviewers downloaded a custom profile list and adjusted settings in the OSD to make it clearer.
The main advantage of IPS vs VA is the responsiveness. Previous generations of VA displays had terrible response times that were compensated with overdrive, leading to noticeable overshoot that materialized through pinkish blur on moving objects (the effect is also known as reverse ghosting). But recent VA panels are much better and the difference with IPS is less noticeable in this area, if noticeable at all. But IPS panels are still a tad better when it comes to color accuracy, but it's nothing major for gaming, you won't notice the difference if you're not doing color accurate work. However, VA panels have much deeper blacks than IPS ones, leading to better contrast and more details in the darker areas. Plus, you don't get IPS glow on a VA panel.
Ips can never have better blacks than va. No matter how bad the va is. Because Ips has no such thing as black, only greys. But recent VA panels are very refined, and even ghosting is sufficiently diminished, making it overall a better choice for everything other than color accuracy.
@@adalwolf8328 ok, then buy two monitors to get the same width workflow and game immersion, with bars from bezels in the middle, I'm sure as hell not doing that.
I know that this is a really late response (it's been a year since your comment) but just in case people are still thinking about getting this, I have to say that they are a lot cheaper now. I bought mine for $399 as an open-box item and at that price I really like it. It's a head-turner if nothing else. If I had paid any more for it, however, I probably wouldn't be so happy with it. The colors are pretty unexciting and for me, for lack of a better word, it lacks depth or "sharpness". I was also in touch with Acer a couple of times because my system picks it up as a Generic PnP Monitor and I wanted it to pick it up as the Z35 it is so that I could install a Light Show made specifically for it, and they told me that systems would always pick it up as a Generic Monitor, which I still don't understand (why).
Thanks for the review.., I think I will buy an IPS panel. Every VA panel i have seen has washed out colours.., thought it was just me. HA. I can either buy the Acer Predator X34 for $1295.., or wait till the new 200Hz monitors release later this year. :)
Another awesome video!! Always look forward to your monitor reviews

Hi. More info on this would be awesome. The colors do suck, as does the "clarity' or sharpness.
hi, which of these monitors, predator X34P , Z35P , orAlienware AW3418DW, is best for gaming in your opinion?
if i'm not mistaken native resolution in this model is 100hz, if you overclock to 120hz will g-sync scale as well? or it stays 30-100hz
Why does bezel size matter? Also how can ips be preferable over va?

Actually VA panels often suffer from banding and black crush which means there is LESS detail in dark images than on IPS panels.

I disagree. I wouldnt call this sufficiently diminished: ua-cam.com/video/-gabcllrCE0/v-deo.html
@@BelisariuSF That doesnt look like overshoot. Looks like black trailing / smearing.
So you are trying to say that the acer x34 and Asus pg is still the kings on the market?
+Dmitrii Pretty much. Although the Alienware AW3418DW is en route and I've heard very good things.
They are ridiculously overpriced
@@adalwolf8328 how so? It's basically two monitors in one?
@@markozivanovic117 They aren't tho. One power supply, one speaker, one computer chip, etc. etc.

It's on sale at me for 1000$, i wonder if its worth to try it out..

€850 for me
its well worth it
just bought it for 750 euro, for eu prices this is great
I wish Acer would redesign their stand. It looks like it has rooster legs. Give it a reserved stand like Dell and I'd be all in.
