Frayed ends of sanity is the most underrated metallica song
Idk man this song fucking slaps top 5 for sure
This whole album is just perfect.
07:23 love that riff. One of the best Metallica riffs ever written
Fuck yes this song. Riffs for days.
I think most of their instrumental songs are underated
That is my favorite song , never get enough respect!!
Yes! 🤘🏻
Awesome to see youth appreciate, discover and fall in love the music we grew up with
The majestic riff behind the solo is the best riff ever written by man, ever 🤘
Disposable Heroes is my fav!
The best song on the album and in my top 5 favorite MetallicA songs. 🤘🤘
You've never seen Wizard Of Oz? lol
The rythm guitar for the solo is absolutely genius, sadly most people don´t notice it
I have the official guitar transcript and definitely see the intricacies of the rhythm guitar parts.
Exactly. Glad others are starting to notice
There is a YT video of it. Bloody magestic.
It's kind of like the Battery riff a little too
Hetfield was just going off behind that solo. It's epic.
I love this song! I cannot wait for you to get to Dyers Eve. I do have a suggestion for the last two songs on this record. Play them as a double feature. Try to find a recording with both songs played back to back. All the feels in just two songs.
dyers eve hits so much harder right after To Live is to Die. not that its not heavy as fuck on its own
The later songs on Justice are so underrated, along with blackened. One etc. are great, but this, shortest straw, drool!
dyers eve came on when i was driving home from my grandma's funeral, i'll never forget that.
@@HellBrYngersorry about your family but that would be awesome.
the OH YEE OH YE OH UM at the start is from THE WIZARD OF OZ when the knights of the wicked witch are marching
well, the more you know!
Nah, it definitely were Oompa Loompa's LOL
Not that it’s a big deal but I always thought it was “Wee” not “Yee”. I guess I’m just hearing it wrong?
It’s “Oh wee oh, yo ho.” It’s from the Flying Monkeys of the Wicked Witch of the West from The Wizard of Oz.
Its from her palace guards not the flying monkeys.
The middle composition of this song is just solid af. Hands down of my top 5 all-time favorite moments in music is the lead up to Lars little fill and the papa hit comes with an out of control riff. AJFA never misses, can't wait to see your reaction to To Live is to Die or Dyers Eve😊
Absolutely agree. That whole section for me is the absolute pinnacle of Metallica.
Great reaction!!! To Live is to Die is one of my favorites. It’s a tribute to Cliff Burton
"Viking and Oopma Loompa" is the best description of those intro vox I've ever heard. It's so apt it makes me weep. Overstays it's welcome but I enjoy hearing it after so long regardless.
It’s an ode to the wizard of oz...
^ this. The flying monkeys in Oz
@@jsalvatori It was the Wicked Witch's body guards' chant as they marched on their patrols.
@@dtny2la thanks. Been a lot of years since I've seen it
Damn man . I still get chills hearing this song even after so many years . I still feel those feelings I had in my youth first hearing this song . This song has followed me around my whole life and meaning different things to me at different times .
And thar chorus riff makes me wanna go nuts when it hits !!!!!!
Same bro but I can say that for most of their albums😂
Metallica has too many songs and great albums. This album is very psychological and the riffs are so catchy. This album is one of mt personal favorites. The Outlaw Torn is my personal favorite, Spit out the bone also.
what about the new album? some great songs on it!!!
Perhaps my fav on the album also!
Always liked the Monkeys Chant from the Wizard of Oz in the beginning of the song.
One of my favorites on AJFA album.
You beat me to it with the Wizard of Oz🤘
Monkey chant? I'm pretty sure it came from her palace guards.
That's it, I couldn't remember..
I was thinking it was from the actual LOTR novel for a second. Total brain fart lmao
I think there was a running joke at the time that James looks like cowardly lion from the movie... It's pretty much a meme that they put it in the song... The thing is it fukking sounds really cool there....😅
@@jaysonraphaelmurdock8812 Yep. The palace guards.
Just letting you know that the chanting at the beginning of the song was the Soldier's March in the 1939 Movie with Julie Garland - The Wizard of Oz.
Also, once the main riff kicks in, the weird Cymbal effect you hear is a Cymbal shwell recorded and played backwards.
Me and my ex girlfriend used to mock the opening by chanting " All we own , we owe for ! " back when we were broke kids lol ! But no joke , I love this song and is one of the great ones that dont get talked about from this record very much . Having gone through terrible addiction , depression and anxiety later in life , this song means more to me now than when it came out . As I just loved it for the music then .
I think the chanting is taken from the Original 1930's Wizard of Oz movie.. It's what the castle Guards chant when they are marching in.. 😆

Love this Metallica track.. one of my all-time favourites! The Pumping Guitar Riffs from 7:20 on just hit hard!!
My favorite metallica song of all time lml
This album is underrated. Appreciate it more and more as I get older.
Are you from the Multiverse? Because here on Earth-616 this ISN'T an underrated album.
the only thing is that lack of bass. several youtubers fixed that online, doing their own very impressive remasters. I believe one of them is And Justice For Jason.
Under rated.... The single most over used term on all of the internet... This album is in no way under rated.
Its not underrated at all
When this album first dropped I was kinda meh. It has grown on me So Hard over the years and I can't even understand my initial aversion. This album is one Bad Ass offering from the Boys in Black!! I appreciate it more and more every time I listen!😊
Creeping Death would be the one I can't live without.
I can't wait for your reaction "To Live Is To Die" and "Dyers Eve" . Please, record two reactions together, you can't interrupt the listening there.
LOL you need to see the wizard of oz!
Imagine the thumbnail 😂
I did once as a kid but I don't remember much from it honestly.
@@lillyjanereacts it’s an old movie made to program kids minds. The movie has a lot of interesting facts.
Oh damn me to on Oz, I commented above lol
@Lilly Jane Reacts some good smoke and the movie would be a fun night for ya 😆
To live is to die and Dyers Eve next! These last three are BY FAR the best on this record, and possibly the best closers of any Metallica album!!!
So looking forward to Dyers Eve though.... wooooo boy.... that's a blistering song, musically and lyrically!
You gotta do a double reaction for To Live is to Die and Dyers Eve, or just listen to the transition between the two. HIGHLY recommend
I second this
That was one of the few Bass lines heard in the beginning.
Love this song. One of their best. Can't wait for you to get to To Live is To Die and Dyers Eve.
Cliff will live so long as there are Metallica fans but you take this album from start to end Jason is a bass god.
🐇
Dont know how much truth there is to this, but someone once told me that a year or so after the Burton incident, a band by the name of the Frayed Ends tried to recruit James to be their lead. It puts a completely different spin on the lyrics
The intro where it goes "wee ah oh! Wee ah oh, oh, oh!" Is from the wizard of Oz, the little troops. The reason they use it is because in the movie it conveyed fear to the characters, therefore would convey fear to the listener
The sound changed after Master of Puppets because of Cliff.
Tough to pick just one Metallica favorite, too many.
Gotta do the next two back to back. Epic
Anyone who hasn’t listened to the rhythm guitars isolated on this song should check them out. James’ rhythm guitar under the first solo break is insane.
great job! Justice is 100% the greatest metal album of all time...period. No matter the point of view this is the bar that all metal is judged by. And...they did it without a bass.
Play the next 2 songs back to back without interruption.
This song is FUCKING INSANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I never tire of hearing it after 34 years
This album is another fucking masterpiece
😈😈😈🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘😈😈😈
Absolute master piece! This is one of my favorite Metallica songs.
Can’t hardly wait for ‘Dyers Eve’!
The wizard of oz the flying monkey chant at the end
I love this album because it's so proggy, they switch it up all the time without losing the groove.
Also some of the best Kirk solos are on this album, wish he would do some of those crazy solos these days.
I never thought about it in terms of prog but you're so right. Side note, I remember reading this album was pretty hard on Kirk in terms of composing the solos. I can imagine why. That said, I think he did a damned good job.
Kirk has played soooo many great solos on so many great Metallica albums, except for one. We all know which album that is......
Artists will kill for one classic all time album. These guys have five….in a row. And everyone expects them to maintain that, it’s impossible. Post black album stuff is still really good, they just set the bar high not just for them but everyone who followed which is why they’re the GOATS
woot...my fave on this album!
Yep me too brotha 🍺🍺
same so far!
@@lillyjanereacts as for the "can't live without"...mannnn...Creeping Death or Disposable Heros...at least today...lol
The intro was taken from the Wizard of OZ
The Intro is from the Wizard of Oz. That Oh wee oh. we oh oh
This one, along with the shortest straw, are my favorite metal songs of all time
James' rhythm guitar behind that Kirk solo...
That combo is so satisfying such unhinged madness
This takes me back to a better time in my life.
Great song from the last Metallica album in which I liked the majority of the songs. I know you also like rap. This song may be a bit old for you but in the late 80s LL Cool J's I'm that type of guy had the same chorus that Frayed Ends of Sanity has. Its 'Oh We Love the Old One' and both artists borrowed it from Wizard Of Oz.
This album was my very first metal album. Load was my first Metallica album, but they were an alternative rock back at that point, but when I first listened to Justice, it blew 9 year old me's mind.
This song is about a person who is becoming increasingly paranoid and therefore on the brink of losing his mind. The sound that you hear starting at the 0:57 mark is James Hetfield himself. The arrangement of this song along with Kirk's badass guitar solo definitely captures the feeling of becoming more and more paranoid until the person's mind just snaps.
They never played this song in its entirety live until 2014 in Finland. Can you believe that?
It triggers some background stuff there, so that is why.
DYERS EVE🤘🎙️🎸🔥
I remember buying this the day it came out at Peaches in West Palm after school. Pulling in to the parking lot hearing the album blasting from cars pulling out and the store full of metal heads is a great memory! This album was an event for us. Metallica were becoming huge.
If I remember correctly, the lyrics were inspired by One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.
Spotify marked this as my most played song of 2022 :D the end of that solo is one of the most "metal stink face-ish" and headbanging moment I have ever heard
Can't wait to see you react to "Dyer's Eve" the last song on the album. The anger and aggression James unleashes can be felt to the soul. In my opinion the fastest and most introspective look into James' upbringing or any musician you will ever hear. I love it.
The beginning is from The Wizard of Oz.
What's your favorite Metallica song you ask? Trick question. The great thing about Metallica is that your favorites can change, every day, week, year. My favorite thing about Metallica is that I ALWAYS rediscover new favorite things about their songs even though I've heard them all hundreds of times. 🥲🥹
Such a good album !!! And so much of it if not all of it holds up today .❤ Glad you are enjoying it so much it's another milestone album with being the first album with Jason and going through the death of cliff
1 Of My Favorite Metallica Songs..Paired W/ 1 Of My Favorite Movies ‘The Wizard Of Oz’
The Intro “Ohhh..Weee..Oh….Ohhh..Oh!!” Is In The Scene Of ‘The Wizard Of Oz’ When The
Wicked Witch’s Castle Guards R Chanting!!
I really enjoy your Metallica reactions! Your perspective is always really interesting! I learned drums with this album, and I think it’s a great album!
That intro was the like the Guards from the wicked witch from the wizard of Oz. One of the best Metallica songs, top 5.
Favorite Metallica song? Oh, that's easy........ "Fade To Black". But, being honest, AJFA is an absolute banger from start to finish!
SPOILER: Kirk drops off after this album.. He still has a few good solos on each album after (except St. Anger of course..) but prepare to be disappointed after this album with Kirk..
Intro is taken from Wizard of Oz - wicked witch’s guard chant…
You NEED to react to Good mourning / black friday.
In my opinion, THE best Megadeth song ever. I won't give anything away, but you should definitely listen to it.
Unfortunately Metallicas last good album was the Black Album. Everything after that doesn't have the rawness of their previous albums, in my humble opinion. \m/
This is SOOOOOoooo HEAVY! To be honest, you listen to this, and then Lux Aeterna, and go HOLY SHIT where did you guys go? I like the new songs, but where is Metallica?
Dyers Eve is great and from the new stuff, Room of Mirrors is great
Metallica - The Frayed Ends Of Sanity (And Justice For All) Epic, Cool 👌🏼😉💯
love this album, can't wait for dyer's eve. if you thought battery, trapped under ice, and damage inc. were fast, just wait....
Hey Dave, you abandoned the Seattle live journey for Metallica's new album. Please continue the Seattle live journey
Master of Puppets and Bleeding Me are probably my all time favourite Tallica tracks.
Caught myself headbangin eyes screwed shut, forgot I was watching YOU. This is what Metallica does…lose yourself
Ahh yes, the famous "Wizard Of Oz" intro...
"Oh-RE-oh... coooo-kies... Oh RE-oh... coooo-kies..."
Look up Wizard of Oz castle guards. And you’ll see where the opening comes. The song might reflect on the movie.
Nobody seems to get the reference of the "Oh wee Oh" in the beginning.
Does nobody watch The Wizard of Oz any more?
ua-cam.com/video/rjBrkfX_XHw/v-deo.html
Dyers Eve is on your horizon.Getting the like button ready 😁😁😁😁
Can everybody QUIT saying “oh this track is so underrated” …by who?? The mainsteam?? Then you can just say that sh#t about every metal track. And who cares if tracks are underrated?! People that listen to this genre will not “underrate” them 🙄
I love how much The Frayed Ends of Sanity surprises you and the fact that you are listening to and commenting on And Justice 4 All and the older Metallica is freaking awesome
I see youz still reacting to old school metal..Fine How about react to Anthrax.. Testament, Suicidal tendency Other great metal bands in that time..
LOL that opening chant always sounds totally creepy. Almost like an invading army of demon soldiers.
Metallica song I can't live with? Gotta be either creeping death or harvester of sorrow
After that justice for all album try to jump to the black album through the never song.. 🤘🤘🤘
You said you are 3 albums in, this is metallicas 4th album, ... and justice for all released in 1988 after their hits master of puppets in 1986, ride the lightning in 1984 and their debut album kill em all in 1983
This is definitely my favorite album. There’s a b side cover track called the prince originally by diamond head. That’s the band that influenced metallica. Check that song out as part of your and justice for all experience.
Oh we oh whoooh we whoooh it's the wicked witch of the West's castle guards from The Wizard of Oz And I have loved this song since 88 when I first heard it, makes perfect sense after 30years of being both a military and civilian cook. The business drives you nuts.
I actually think "now that were dead" off of "hardwired... to self destruct" (2016) is a pretty good song, id be sad to never hear it again.
And Justice For All to me is THE iconic Metallica album (although MOP is actually my favourite).
Justice has on it the song that left me spell bound, causing me to pick up a guitar, and should have been the first indication to all fans that this was not just a one trick pony that was going to kick out the same shit album after album.
They had already shown that with transitions through the first 3 but if anyone hadn't figured it out by Justice then they have only themselves to blame.
4 decades later they are still developing and growing new music and new bases of fans - I am still in AWE!
It's awesome you've discovered Metallica. Now you know why they're legends, and icons of metal. One of the great bands of all-time. Blackened is my favorite. Justice is my favorite album! 🤘
Check out the great versions of AJFA with added bass! They blow the original studio version away!
Honestly for me i don't really have a favorite but if I had to choose i would say blackened wherever I may roam Dyer's eve
What Metallica song can I not live without? That would be "No Leaf Clover".
Try out tankard - wonderful life or demolition hammer - skull fracturing nightmare
Spit out the Bone would probably be my favorite Metallica song.
Another classic off the justice album 🙂
..Since yous afraid to react to new Mrgadeth... How bout react to ffdp the pride..
Justice will always be my favorite Metallica album. It’s so sterile and cold. Such a dark, dark album.
The intro is simply the band playing that cut from The Wizard of Oz.
