As someone with dry acne-prone skin, I sympathize with her struggles! I’ve fallen into the trap of wanting so desperately to clear my acne that I’ll use too many actives, which damages my skin barrier and leads to more acne. Being patient and waiting to see if a product works is so hard but definitely the way to go. Still trying to learn that lesson myself. 🤦🏼♀️😋
Same here. I've been struggling for few months . I used so many actives that my normal skin turned dry. Now i have acne and dry skin. Could you share if something helped you

I feel so sorry for her. It seems like some of the people she's seen have misinformed her a lot. Now her routine is all over the place and irritating her skin.
It seems like her barrier is really damaged...I really feel for her, she must be so uncomfortable with the dryness of her skin. I think the moisturisers she is using just don’t cut the mustard...even the curology one. A moisturiser with ceramides, cholesterol and fatty acids, maybe with occlusives. The cerave cream in the tub or the Paulas choice omega moisturiser, to replace some of her lipids. I would layer a moisturising gel moisturiser or hydrating essence underneath. I think once her barrier is repaired she should revisit the Azelaic acid if she can tolerate a 15-20%...studies have shown that it can be as effective as differin or even tretinoin but with less side effects. Especially if she has rosacea. But I feel that cleanser is way too stripping also.
@Alishawlk I was talking about the Moisturising Cream. I'm in Australia though, so there may be regional differences in the formulation. It's the formula that is in the tub, but you can get it in a tube here also.
I think if she sticks to a routine for a while she can have results, she’s using so much and diluting a medication that can be actually working. Wishing her luck.
Agreed. After scaling back on products (opting for a few products that work well for me) and focusing on my gut/physical health I saw a noticeable difference in my skin.
I was on tretinoin for SEVEN MONTHS, and all I got was severe irritation and never had my acne resolve. I switched to adapalene every day and a benzoyl peroxide wash every other day, and that has been most successful treatment for acne. I’m only saying this because I think tretinoin definitely helps the majority of people, but not ever person.
Well for me it was the opposite I got adaplene and azelaic acid but I needed something stronger for my acne so my dermatologist gave me 1% tretinion and it healed all my acne
I'm starting to think that may be my case as well. I've used tretnoin cream and it was a disaster...purging like crazy for months. Then I switched to differin and my skin improved a lot. After a while I decided to go for something stronger and tried tretnoin again but this time in the gel format...is way better than the cream but I'm still breaking out a lot! I'm considering going back to differin but I'm giving tret more time to work..I'm 5 weeks in
Been down the dermatologist antibiotics track, and the natural healing skin influencer track so I feel her. Everything used to sting my face and I had inflamed acne all over with dry skin. The thing that helped me was an ultra ultra gentle routine and gradually introducing tretinoin. I use the la roche posay gentle facial cleanser and cerave AM in the morning and the same cleanser, curology(with tretinoin) and Avene tolerance emulsion at night. The key for me was ensuring that I didn’t have any irritating ingredients at all that could aggravate my sensitive skin and reestablish my moisture barrier. I look everything up on cosDNA to ensure nothing is comedogenic or irritating. Additionally, the topical tretinoin helped a ton but took several months.
I’ve had success with a similar routine. I use then I met you living cleansing balm, laroche posay toleriane foaming cleanser because the gentle one wasn’t doing enough, curology w/ azelaic acid, niacinamide, and cindamycin, the ordinary retinol, and cerave moisturizing cream. I do this at night and in the morning I only do sunscreen (cetaphil sheer mineral face 50). I started out with a more simple routine but this is what I’ve worked up to and it’s made a massive difference.
I feel like she’s jumping around a little to much. I agree on how she should stick with the tretinoin and cut down on all of the actives as well as including thick cream moisturizers Like the vanicream moisturizing cream
I'm so glad to see Dr. Ellis on your channel. I discovered her right after she started her channel in May and now she is my go to UA-cam Dermatologist to follow for evidence based guidance delivered in a clear and entertaining manner. She really earned my respect when one of her first videos was on why she doesn't use lash serums. Most derms pander to the big cosmetic companies, but with that video she showed she was willing to challenge them when the evidence shows there is problem with their products.
Thank you so much for having Dr Ellis on again! I discovered her on this channel, with her nighttime routine and I've since started following her on Instagram and UA-cam 💖
Im not a dermatologist and I could still tell that Nicole was doing too much on her face. Remove the actives and work on healing the acne first. I think she just fell into the rabbit hole of skinfluencers recommending stuff and she used it on her face like paint on canvas.
I’ve been where your at and one of the best things I ever did for my dry/acne skin is going back to basics. Also Trent is good but in small doses. My new doctor switched me from 1.25 to 0.25 and my skin finally changed for the better.
I feel for Nicole. I too was at a all time low in my mid twenties, when every product just burned. I remember, dreading washing my face and having to watching my nose crack, peel and bleed. My hear goes out to her.
Nicole, no one has given you suggestions for dehydrated skin. Some of what you’ve described is likely dehydration issues. A Cica toner like Cosrx is calming and soothing or super simple basic Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner could change things drastically. Kelly Driscoll here on UA-cam is amazing for hydration recs. Locking in dehydrated skin with thick moisturizer doesn’t fix the problem. My skin changed the most by focusing on hydration first, which doesn’t take much time at all. The rest of what they said was great but skin can feel dry from lack of water or lack of oil.
100% agree. When your skin barrier is ruined the right combination of hydration and moisture is critical. Even just adding a mugwort essence could do heaps to help soothe and nourish your skin. I have used really thick moisturizers and woken up with dry skin but there are some that are not as thick and still manage to lock in moisture all night for me. You could try the Purito dermide cica barrier sleeping pack. It's not super thick but is fantastic at locking in the hydration from my I'm from mugwort essence and that is enough for me most nights. Hydration is key to fixing your skin.
I've just started using the PyunkangYul essence toner after hearing so many great things about. I've also bought mini versions of the I'm From mugwart essence and the Cosrx cica toner. I'll give the PY a few weeks to see how it goes, then do the same with the other two.
@@kendallstark4302 PKY essence does wayyyyy better if you do have a toner underneath it. Without one, quite a few people report feeling dehydrated with it. In case it doesn't work for you as a standalone you can try pairing it with a toner.
Completely agree. Imagine, after years of suffering from bad acne, my face cleared just by using a light moisturizer. You can imagine how frustrated I feel.
Just watched this and wondering if you've ever done follow ups? Would love to hear if she downsized her routine, found a great derm and is setting results, even if it was less irritation, acne and redness.
I love Dr. Ellis’ videos and it was great to see her on the channel! As someone who is a skin care junkie, I feel Nicole in trying all of these things. But over time as someone with dry, acne prone skin myself the key really is to get back to the basics. We can never see results if we are rotating through all these different products. I would remove all oils until acne goes away. Stick to cleanser, active, moisturizer and sunscreen in am, and night, double cleanse, active and moisturizer and you are good. The consistency is key. You can start a vitamin c once the acne goes away to start focusing on anti aging. Stay on same products over long term to see. Wish you luck, Nicole!
I also have dry acne prone skin. Both Zinc oxide Sunscreens and Azaleic acid can be drying to me. So I use Korean Sunscreens, LHA based exfoliants, PHA based exfoliants, encapsulated Retinaldehyde to treat my acne and it worked for me.
I got to the point where I almost wanted to try accutane but then luckily I found out that really it is what you eat that causes acne. After cutting out dairy, gluten and all processed highly inflamatory foods not only did I lose weight but my acne is gone. I would still get sometimes but I never get any cystic acne like before. There are supplements to help with acne and overall health rather than those prescription antibiotics which will ruin your gut and later on you can develop a resistance and acne comes back. I've been there but thank god I did not stop researching and figuring out the ROOT cause of it. 😊
Depends on the person! I'm saying this as someone whose skin significantly improves by changing their diet, it doesn't work for everyone and it's not always a cure-all when it does. I still ended up having to go on accutane and I'm glad I did, because it really helped me. Glad it worked for you, just remember everyone's skin and body is different. Accutane is an amazing, life changing treatment for many people.
I have a dehydrated acne-prone skin. And there was a time when I was trying desperately to dry my acne and it just made my skin worse. And I also was trying different products at the same time, which definitely it wasn't helping. However lately I started using an hydrating toner containing rose water and also the puritos centella serum. As a cream there is a lipid one from beauty bey which is a blast and it really helped my skin not to feel tight at night. I have started to realise that when my skin is hydrated, my acne starts to clear up. As for treatments I just use one once or twice a week and that's a wrap. Imo she should focus more on products that are more skin barrier friendly and also HYDRATING. Hydration is key. Good luck girl! You can do it!💪🏻💪🏻
@@tajammalsaleem8803 hey, I dont really remember how long it took for my skin to get better however nowdays when my skin gets inflamed it's doesn't get as bad as it used to be. I tend to minimize the products that I use in my routine and focus on soothing and hydrating. I learnt that centella, panthenol and snail mucin helped with the inflammation a lot. The La Roche Posay or Avene Balms too. My sister is currently having the same problem and she said that those two Balms helped to calm the inflammation a lot. If I'm at home and have an inflamed pimple I like to put one those Balms on it to kind of releases that itchy feel. I tend to repeat this for a few days until my skin gets better. Your skin will get better eventually and be cautious with the use of exfoliants and retinoids. Sometimes they tend to inflame the skin even more and do more damage than good. Hope this helps, good luck!
As a medical aesthetician, I would suggest doing a series of chemical peels, every 4 weeks until her inflammation reduces and her active acne is under control. IF she suffers from Acne and not PD. I would only preform skin resurfacing on her once her acne is not longer active and that would help in reducing her scarring. Her routine should be simplified, I think she is doing too much and for not enough time. Her home routine should be: Ceptahil to cleanse or La Roche- Posay Toleraine cleanser, Purito Calming Essence Toner (optional, but I love it!), Finacea Gel 15% on affected areas (azelaic acid), Cetaphil moisturizer or Cosrx Comfort Cream, then a sunscreen for am. At night, switch the finacea gel with a Differin Cream and apply using the sandwich method. This routine has helped many of my clients, as well as my skin! I suffer from Papulopustular Rosacea as well as Eczema, so my skin is DRY DRY! When my skin flares up, I get super red, itchy, hot to the touch, white papules and pustules all over my face. Sticking to this routine has completely changed my skin!!!! I hope this helps!! :) All the best!
I don’t know if the chemical peels are a good idea. It sounds like her skin barrier is severely compromised. In that case, chemical peels can really damage her skin. They’re just too harsh. She needs to get her skin barrier healed before she applies any topicals.
@@BbGun-lw5vi I understand why you would say that! Chemical peels actually help promote cell turnover thus creating new skin cells to strengthen her barrier. But when I say a chemical peel, I mean a gentle medical grade peel with a low percentage. With no downtime or peeling. It all happens at a cellular level. A lot of gentle peels contain calming ingredients and probiotics to further heal the skin and repair a damaged barrier. In my career, majority of my clients have moderate to severe cystic acne and inflammation. And I will treat them with a gentle medical grade chemical peel. Most clients see significant reduction in active acne as well as inflammation after 1 or 2 treatments. I would send her home with a recovery lotion to further aid in healing her skin for the next week. It’s honestly the only treatment you can do for people with active acne and inflammation. Aside from using retinoids, oral antibiotics, and exfoliating acids.
I suffer from “ dry acne” Vitamin c serum made my acne worse. I stay away from Benzoyl Peroxide and Salicylic acid, which also worsen my skin since it made my already dried skin even more drier. What has work for me is a gentle cleanser, oil free moisturizer, sunscreen that contains Niacinamide and Adapalene at night only.
Biolage isn't sold in stores in Australia anymore. It was in Priceline. They were a bit hit and miss with their products. Products need to list all ingredients.
Weleda skin food (the rich creme) is literally a GAMECHANGER for lips. Dr. Sheerene Idriss turned me on to this “lip basting” trick & it works SO WELL. I let it soak in for a few minutes and apply any lip balm or petrolatum product on top. Softest, most hydrated lips EVER
I don’t feel like you gave enough acknowledgement to how much Nicole has tried. She’s trying the alternative therapies and products because nothing the dermatologist did for her worked. I can relate because I saw three different dermatologists for my acne because of moving and they each insisted on starting back at the beginning with the topicals. Spironolactone gave me terrible muscle cramps but did nothing for my acne. I wasn’t prescribed isotretinoin until the 3rd derm. It did work for me, but I feel so much for Nicole and I so hope she can find some help.
I feel really bad for her… because she’s going to get a bunch of new recommendations from this video (including in the comments) and the aesthetician, buy them all, maybe not stick with it for long enough and continue to have the same issues then feel like she has to change everything again and the cycle continues…
I agree with you that there wasn’t enough acknowledgement and that’s why she’s trying all these other things. But she really needs to go back to basics. She has way too many products she’s using.
She might need to use basic products - I bet the accutane did work she may have done damage by odd products causing it to come back . Also yttp is highly drying for many people ! I have normal skin and it breaks me out and my daughter too . Common sense . She says she has “dry skin “ that cleanser is for oily skin and has Fragrance. Stay away from Aquafor and vitamin c is highly acne prone too ! Take away vitamin b too . Acne inducing .
@@rosemartin4398 lanolin does work for some people. Im on isotretinoin and find that lip products with lanolin works so well for me. And same goes for moisturisers. Maybe not when I wasn't on isotretinoin and skin was more oily but definitely right now it works well
I can't tell you how important this video is for me. Could you please share how to get inflammation under control so skin isn't sensitive to products to help acne?
The whole point of this video was for Nicole to cut down on all the different “experts” she was getting advice from as well as products. I find it rude that ppl in comments are basically just doing that and disagreeing with the advice listed in the video. She has enough on her plate with deciphering through all this new information and this comment section is piling on more. Jeez it’s stressing ME out lol
Thats the internet but...we as viewers can supply our opinions too, don't forget the end goal is to help the girl improve her skin and if someone in the comments end up providing helpful info it's all good 👍
Struggled with eczema and dry skin and acne, all at the same time, for 3 whole years. Here are my observations, niacinamide is horrible for dry skin, zinc sunscreen is horrible for dry skin. Both these reduce sebum production. A thick shea butter and dimethicone based moisturizer is good for night time moisturizing. Adding equal amount of almond oil or olive oil to my regular foaming cleanser mixing it together in my palm and then using that to cleanse made the cleansing process super delightful. Cleansers no matter how gentle are meant to strip the skin off oils. Adding oil reduces the stripping process. Adding a glycerine based toner, I use sukin toner, found Hylauronic acid to be super drying unless in a humid city. After toning, few drops of almond oil onto the skin and then seal it off with a moisturizer. During the day, i use a vitamin c serum (sometimes), cant use any high percentage vitain c serums, moisturizer, sunscreen (chemical) Love the revolution sunscreen for dry skin (super cheap and super nice), has lactic acid and urea in it. Once or twice a week glycolic toner. Salicylic dries out the skin. It was impossible to find products without Niacinamide, Salicylic acid, Zinc, Hylauronic acid. That was the most difficult part. But once i cut out these ingredients, my skin started to calm down and heal. Gonna try out Urea based cream next to stay on top of the exfoliation game and combat dryness.
I’m so sad that spirolactone didn’t work for Nicole. I swear by spiro. Worked for me within a month. I also have dry acne prone rosacea skin. My derm didn’t prescribe me tret. She advised me to use differin and prescription azelaic acid . Key is to start slow and use the sandwich method.
This video was SO informative! Ladies thank you for sharing your expertise so thoroughly and clearly for us lay-people. I found this video to help my 13 year old with her dry skin + acne which I am so unfamiliar with, having dealt with oily acne prone skin. I thought - having treated my own acne for 20 years - I was knowledgeable enough to tackle a teens acne. But our routine has not been particularly effective for her. I was hoping to find a good moisturizer because her biggest problem right now is the dryness, she’s scratching inflamed acne and getting scabs and scarring because she’s constantly messing with her itchy skin. Anyway, I feel like I can find her some better products now and I’m also thinking I should go ahead and take her to the dermatologist if for nothing other than someone else telling her to use her products. As her mother, I don’t want to nag and seem as though I think she looks bad.
I have been searching forever for a routine for acne and dry skin! I suffer from cystic/hormonal acne and dry skin for soooo long, what would you recommend in a routine?😳😫
My advice to this young lady is exercise! Helps cell turnover and promote dewy complexion. Track her diet, watch for flare ups. Cut way back on the cocktail of topicals, seems to be overdoing it. Daytime, try CereVe Healing Ointment on top of hyaluronic acid, plus sunscreen. And finally use a retinol (not retinoids) with sandwich method mentioned in the video at night. I’ve been there, it was soul crushing. It will take months to clear up but it can happen!!!
I really hope Nicole gives up most of her products and uses the PC BHA in the a.m. followed by the Great Barrier Relief + SPF. At night she should use a low dose of Tretinoin or Adapalene all over her face followed by a heavy duty moisturizer like Skinfix Triple Lipid OR the new soothing gel moisturizer from Cetaphil. I have very dry middle aged skin and what works gangbusters for me is the Toleriane Nuit from La Roche Posay. And my tret is at .14% from Curology. Also, I prefer Tranexamic Acid over Azelaic Acid. The latter is irritating to me as well. Also I am not opposed to using Cortizone 10, as wow, that works fast in skin healing. And she might want to try some European Chemical Sunscreens, such as EVY mousse or La Roche Posay Invisible Fluid. Personally I find Zinc to be incredibly drying.
AND dry lips.. omg, sounds so uncomfortable 😢 I really feel for this beautiful lady. BTW this Triple Paste calms my skin overnight! Because of the ZINC! I have dry skin. I don't know if this will help anyone, but I make sure that every step I have, I use in a moisturizing form. Aquaphor is great as AN OCCLUSIVE, but that only helps if you add moisture first. Water based essence etc, then Moisturizer with Ceramides, then an occlusive. As an occlusive, I use Triple Paste with calming Zinc when I'm inflamed, and Cetraben Cream when I want something more comfortable. But first, I use the Thank You Farner Rice Essence with the Bakuchiol Essence that has Glycerin! For a Moisturizer, I use CocoKind Barrier Serum or the Eucerin Q10 Anti Wrinkle cream- both are super mild! The Eucerin is much richer, and I sometimes skip the occlusive with this, depending on the humidity as I'm in Arizona.. very dry! In AM I use my Essences, then a Serum if I'm going to use one, and I use a moisturizing KBeauty SPF! Zinc one if I'm inflamed, Organic one if I'm not. Good luck on your skincare journey, guys.. omg, I can feel her exhaustion and DISCOMFORT! 🥺 My heart is swelling for her! And everyone who can relate on a personal level! Sending so much love, to you all 💖 Good luck on your skincare journey, everyone. ✨️ Because a journey it most definitely is! 💖

Is her naturopath a naturopathic DOCTOR? Like does she have a N.D. Certification? Where I live it’s a registered and protected profession. The one I go to is great! She never tells me not to do things my regular doctor says but always gives me advice to supplement or help what my regular doctor gives me. I think it’s important that all the health care providers you see work together so that you have The best outcome. Also that morning skin care routine also gave me pause, and I’m no where near a professional! I hope these suggestions help Nicole.
We need the young people to educate their self. Skin Barrier is so important. She needs to leave the 10% Ordinary Niacinimide with Zinc is too drying. The 10% is the problem . At 4% is good. I use my Mugwort and Cica Toners . Start with Kelly Driscoll on UA-cam and your line.
Oh I couldn't stop wondering is that Mac's Uninterrupted on your eyes Girl? I love this on your skin too. It's my Jam too. Love the Wing too. Beautiful.
I feel for Nicole. I too have rosacea and acne but my skin is not that sensitive. I also have a lot of knowledge of skin care and ingredients. Into this since 7 years. Spiro worked wonders but again my acne was not severe. My advice to her, work on your barrier girl.
I am surprised at the array of products because it seems like none of her doctors have given her advice on what kind of products to use. Honestly most of her products look like the type that people who do not have practical or theoretical knowledge or experience with skin would recommend.
Lol, I use tretinoin on my whole face and I peel occasionally but without irritation. I do NOT get irritated by tret. I do get irritated by hydroquinone. I keep it simple just sunscreen, treatment, cleanser, and a moisturizer at night
Breaks my heart a little that she's struggling so bad but going to get nutrition advice from a chiropractor and naturopath...girl, get yourself to a registered dietitian/nutritionist who is actually qualified to prescribe you a nutrition plan! Getting nutrition advice from a chiropractor is like going to a hairdresser to get dental advice.
Hello guys i need help. Ive seen already 4 dermatologist and im still not cured. Ive taken accutane for about a year which resulted in severe hair loss. Ive used so many products which didn't work. I did a test which resulted in me having inflammatory liver, what the dermatologist said. She gave me a "bone repair pill" saying itll cure my inflammatory gut and. Ive soo much money..nothing happened. Im taking pills where it says the long term effects is infertility issues. Im lost.please help n suggest me with great prod.(ive used avene anti blemishes for acne, drank flax seed oil pills) nothing yet. Foes food really have this impact on my face??please helppp
I have to comment here, I have been in a similar situation. Although these dermatologists are knowledgeable and the tips in this videos are fantastic, I found it a little bit frustrating. Maybe it is just my experience, but it is a huge mistake to constantly look for “solid acne” products. The more products you use, the more difficult is to achieve the right balance. The problem is your skin barrier Nicole. It is completely damaged. I suggest gel for sensitive skin, during the day niacinamide and zinc serum, at night only light moisturizer. Treat acne only locally with salicylic acid (spot treatment). For some period stay away from foods that cause inflammation e.g, gluten. And you can eat sugar in general, just don’t combine it with fat. If you eat sweet food, avoid eating food that contains a lot of fat that day. Hope this helps!
I have to say, I usually really enjoy these videos, but I felt there was somewhat of a disparaging attitude towards Nicole using a naturopath. Personally, the best approach for the health of my skin and healing of my gut was a holistic approach: discovering I had histamine intolerance leading to inflammation; having a well balanced diet; using appropriate supplements; exercising and sleeping well; lowering my stress levels; and, of course, finding a suitable skincare routine. I really don't think a one size fits all approach ever works across the board, especially as acne is so individual.
Definitely don’t mix anything with your sunscreen: you need it to form a film over your skin. So wait 15 mins after applying moisturiser then go in with the sunscreen, otherwise you don’t know what level of protection you’re getting from it.
Yeah don't do that. Either moisturize first, or find a sunscreen that doubles as a moisturizer -- otherwise it won't work to the SPF listed on the bottle and may give uneven coverage
Who on earth “told” her to use or not to use these weird products and oils??? I mean these product combinations make zero sense. She’s working AGAINST getting rid of her skin problems. Yikes
I'm starting isotretinoín in september!!! I'm excited to eventually get reid of my acne, but i'm scared that it wont work or that it can give me some permanent side effects.... Help...😥
I did a 6-7 month cycle on accutane & it was the only thing that got rid of my acne. Ive had 2 pimples in 3 years. Use weleda skin food (origianl rich cream) on your lips! Let the weleda soak in a bit, and then top with vaseline or aquaphor! Also, sleeping with a humidifier is a must. I havent had any negative long term effects
Yes and also I found Cacay oil, which has three times more Retinol than rosehip oil, 50% more vitamin E than Argan oil ( I love argan oil for my oily whitehead prone skin and under eyes with aloe vera).
Completely relate to Nicole. Had the same issues and it was damaging to me wanting to go out and socialize etc. What worked for me was cutting out sugar, and acupuncture. I would also recommend Nicole getting an allergy panel. Nicole could be taking things that are supposed to be good for her body, that don’t necessarily jam with her personal chemistry. I’m sure Nicole already knows this, but make sure pillowcases/towels and phones and anything that touches face is clean. I used to wear clean socks over my hands while sleeping to keep my hands from touching face. I would cut all her products down to 5. A gentle fragrance free cleanser, a gentle toner (cica) and cica moisturizer and spf (apieu has a great one that’s gentle and affordable and spf 50). The weleda would be good for the dry lips but not the face, because of the fragrance. Make sure it is dry before going to bed where it doesn’t smear on face. Pumpkin oil is great for internal hydration, but make sure to get allergy test to make sure what you are taking is not irritating your internal organs. What works for a lot of people may not work personally for you. Chlorophyll capsules are great too. My husband worked in China and I lived and worked around the Korean community there, and the natural remedies there got my skincare back on track. It’s heartbreaking to try so many things and have them not work. Hope Nicole can get get her skin back on track. -Elisabeth
it’s really sad to see someone get taken advantage of like this. these naturopaths are scammy and it makes me so upset as someone who used to think those things as well only to find those “safe ingredients” like coconut oil would exacerbate my acne severely
Honestly she is not using any prescription on her routines. All of the products she mentioned are not as professional as a prescription. Except for curology. She needs to find a better dermatologist for sure and go simple.
For this sweet girl : Please Please Please Stop every active Treat your skin as sensitive dry skin, not as an acne skin Be carful with pore cloging products, yes, but leave acne/dark spots actives for a good time, maybe give it a good 6 mouths Avoid extreme diets especially vegan/vegetarian diets, you need good red meat Trust me on this, I've been there Edit: Please moisturize Please 🤯🤯🤯 This might be your problem actually It's what your skin needs to heal itself from acne
She didn’t even disclose what products the dermatologist would recommend to her to bring her skin back to normal from her extreme sensitivity? That’s the whole video about how her face is so sensitive and they didn’t even give her the answer to it ?????
She definitely needs to get her inflammation under control then work on hydrating her skin. Poor girl. She's experimenting with way too many products and it doesn't seem like she understands what her products actually do.
She probably needs to stick to a medicine like Spironolactone for at least 6 months to a year and tretinoin. And simplify her routine. She should use a wash and stick with it and add thicker moisturizer. I'm not her doctor but she is doing too much.
As someone with dry acne-prone skin, I sympathize with her struggles!
The Paulas choice omega + complex moisturizer is soo good ! & the CeraVe one !
Hey there! What is cerave one called?
You were using it everyday?
Well for me it was the opposite I got adaplene and azelaic acid but I needed something stronger for my acne so my dermatologist gave me 1% tretinion and it healed all my acne
@@prachiverma2605 That’s great! I’m glad you found the right treatment for you.
@@ArcherMillerFilmBoeuf thanks ☺️
YES. Healing your moisture barrier is often overlooked but should always be the first step
My heart goes out to Nicole. It took me a couple of years with medication to clear my skin. I would like to you thoughts on ZO skin Health products.
Omg yes please! I'd like to know about ZO skin health products too!
Yes this one and epionce
"I just want to stay young and beautiful forever" I have never related more to a sentence.
My favorite duo! Love Dr Sam Ellis 😍😍😍
@@annie947hey there! Which one did you use?
I reaaaally enjoy just watching two very educated woman talk 🥰🥰🥰🥰
I also have dry acne prone skin. Both Zinc oxide Sunscreens and Azaleic acid can be drying to me. So I use Korean Sunscreens, LHA based exfoliants, PHA based exfoliants, encapsulated Retinaldehyde to treat my acne and it worked for me.
I missed these series and love love love Dr Sam!! xxx
You can do it!💪🏻💪🏻
Hey, I'm going through the same, just wanna know how long before the inflammation goes down. It been 3 months I'm frustrated. How's your skin
The cerave acne cleanser has 4% benzoyl peroxide. It’s been a game changer for me.
Thank you so much ❤
More of this series please!
So glad this series is back, it's so helpful. Can she try Agnes RF?
I thought you forgot about this series. It is one of my favorite yehey!!!
girl, I've been there almost identically. Simplify, stick to the tretinoin, and hydrate/moisturize with ceramides.
Hey there! What moisturez do u use?
I’d love some more detail on a routine for clearing up periorificial dermatitis
Acknowledgement ? They did. They acknowledged that Nicoles problem was her trying way too much, and not sticking with one regimen long enough.
@@BbGun-lw5vi Ha! Well, I like you and hope you can come around some day.
Aquaphor has always worked well for my dry, acne skin, it was even recommended!
@@alisha1377 omg 😳 no way . It has lanolin in it .
@@rosemartin4398 lanolin does work for some people. Im on isotretinoin and find that lip products with lanolin works so well for me. And same goes for moisturisers. Maybe not when I wasn't on isotretinoin and skin was more oily but definitely right now it works well
@@IqraArshadBeauty my skin is normal and it cracks my skin : I use Vaseline for lips or other Shea type butters … aquafor is overrated lol
@@IqraArshadBeauty I actually just bought a biossance lip too I forgot , we’ll see how well it works . Squalane is a great ingredient.
Thats the internet but...we as viewers can supply our opinions too, don't forget the end goal is to help the girl improve her skin and if someone in the comments end up providing helpful info it's all good 👍
This is so good. Definitely taking notes 💕
sending her the best of luck!! hopefully her skin recovers and does well
Struggled with eczema and dry skin and acne, all at the same time, for 3 whole years.
Nicole routine is all over the place... So many products and feels like she's misinformed.
That Derm is stunning!
I have been searching forever for a routine for acne and dry skin! I suffer from cystic/hormonal acne and dry skin for soooo long, what would you recommend in a routine?😳😫
LOVE LOVE LOVE these videos!!!!
So relate to Nicole!!! It’s so easy to get so caught up in marketing of dodgy products… ESPECIALLY when you are dealing with long term acne 🥲
Sending so much love, to you all 💖
Good luck on your skincare journey, everyone.

What nail polish is Susan wearing?! Can you guys start mentioning those in videos please? Sooooo cute

I love her site. I use curology which I mix with the curology moisturizer to make it a little more gentle. I this a good/bad idea?
No hate to her.. but when she said “I also tried this” like 15 TIMES, I was dead.
I mix my sunscreen cetaphil spf 50 and moisturizer the ordinary. Is that not OK?
If you dilute your spf, you’ll use less and that’s not good. Just use the moisturiser then the spf
You ARE beautiful, Nicole.
Who on earth “told” her to use or not to use these weird products and oils??? I mean these product combinations make zero sense. She’s working AGAINST getting rid of her skin problems. Yikes
I'm from upstate New York I have very dry skin also💜
Would love see routines for different decades. So far everyone seems under 30.
Can some one explain for me the scandal behind her brand I juts knew about it
I'm starting isotretinoín in september!!! I'm excited to eventually get reid of my acne, but i'm scared that it wont work or that it can give me some permanent side effects.... Help...😥
It will definitely work, but you may have side effects and acne may return once off of accutane! This is coming from someone who's been on it 3 times

This girl is so lost….I bet if she just would have stuck with Tret for a couple years and trashed all that other junk she would have seen results…
How do people NOT know that rosehip oil is a natural retinoid? That’s why it is often so drying.
-Elisabeth
That lot😐
it’s really sad to see someone get taken advantage of like this. these naturopaths are scammy and it makes me so upset as someone who used to think those things as well only to find those “safe ingredients” like coconut oil would exacerbate my acne severely
Honestly she is not using any prescription on her routines. All of the products she mentioned are not as professional as a prescription. Except for curology. She needs to find a better dermatologist for sure and go simple.
For this sweet girl :
Please Please Please
Stop every active
Treat your skin as sensitive dry skin, not as an acne skin
Be carful with pore cloging products, yes, but leave acne/dark spots actives for a good time, maybe give it a good 6 mouths
Avoid extreme diets especially vegan/vegetarian diets, you need good red meat
Trust me on this, I've been there
Edit:
Please moisturize Please 🤯🤯🤯
This might be your problem actually
It's what your skin needs to heal itself from acne
Also go for Asian products
Pyunkang yul have good products that have very little ingredient list, which is good for sensitive skin
Nicole if you are from Australia can you message me I may know some that will help fellow Aussie here.
I wish Susan let the derm speak more
She didn’t even disclose what products the dermatologist would recommend to her to bring her skin back to normal from her extreme sensitivity? That’s the whole video about how her face is so sensitive and they didn’t even give her the answer to it ?????
She definitely needs to get her inflammation under control then work on hydrating her skin. Poor girl. She's experimenting with way too many products and it doesn't seem like she understands what her products actually do.
so many red flags in her routine. I think there’s a misconception that we need to use 10 products morning and night. it’s not true. 📢 less is more! 📢
❤️👏
This girl is stressing me out
It’s like this girl is trying to do everything incorrectly smh 🤦🏻♀️
She probably needs to stick to a medicine like Spironolactone for at least 6 months to a year and tretinoin. And simplify her routine. She should use a wash and stick with it and add thicker moisturizer. I'm not her doctor but she is doing too much.
She looks like she has sensitive skin and should use less products!
Curology : literally so overpriced . Such tiny ! They don’t last
