But as the Radiance Left Your Eyes
How Could the World Contain You
Go Softly Go Lightly Go Bold
And My Heavy Heart Found Its Wings Once Again
For There's a Mighty Captain in These Turbulent Seas
And Depart from the Weight of the World
The Static of Silence Ahead
Who Else Would Walk Through These Shadows with Me?

This was one of the best running documentaries I have seen! I followed every second of the live stream and every time they captured you there was an energy around you. This video just kept that story going and showed all the sides. You highlighted the highs and the lows and just captured it all beautifully! Well done and congratulations on your finish!
Thank you Michele! I’m glad you were able to enjoy the live video feed, you have a special perspective coming into this video. I’m so happy you enjoyed this, thank you for watching and thank you for your comment!
Wes wins the race to get his Cocodona recap video published first! The edit was almost as epic as the race, I’m sure 😉. Can’t wait to watch this tonight.
I'm excited for you to see it Jeff! One of the perks of having quit my job, I had a lot of time to work on the edit after I got home. :)
This was beyond words amazing. The fact you could not only complete this event but also film so you could share your journey with others is another level. So Inspiring!
Wow thank you! ❤️
Even though making these videos takes some extra effort and energy I imagine it's a good motivating factor to keep your attitude in check
when I need to reignite my Ultra passion. I watch this specific video, it connects with me in such a way that is hard to describe.
I’m happy this video brings you so much! 🙌🏼
I took up running at the start of this year aged 30 and I am so addicted with it I spend my time watching ultramarathon runs and I can’t applaud you enough on your efforts and how much it inspires me to run
Welcome to running Stuart! Remember to embrace rest days!
@@wplate Thanks for the reply Wes, yeah I’ve been trying to do as much research as I can to find optimal time training and resting, I’m of quite good fitness coming into running so I’ve had a decent starting point and I’m aiming for a 50K May of next year, any tips you’d give a first timer
@@stuartgunn5350 best advice I ever got: get a coach. Hiring a coach four years ago was one of my best moves.
And how much are you an hour? 😂 thanks Wes I’ll look into this
There are many many options, my coach works through CTS at trainright.com/
So many amazing people, including yourself of course, in this race! Well done and a simply astonishing journey! Thank you for taking us along with you!
Thanks for watching Chad. It was an honor to be out there with such incredible athletes.
It's on!!! Super excited to watch and relive this event. What an epic race 🙌
Hey floris I’m waiting for a new podcast episode , I love your show brother
Thank you for being a part of it! Team Wes really appreciated you. ❤️

Yeahhhhh....what a great film again...what an adventure you’ve had
Thank you for watching! It makes me very happy to know people enjoy these videos.
One of the best documentaries right here !
Thank you! 🙏🏼
The mental toughness it takes to get through one of these races is the most inspiring thing on earth to me. Thanks for the video. The Kerry Ward addition sealed the deal on me subscribing haha.
Thanks for watching Jason. I hope you watch Kerry’s video too!
Wow 🤩 that’s one hell of an achievement , absolute warrior 🏴✌🏼
Thank you!

Wow Wes what a brilliant piece of work. I've watched it twice now and still get emotional at the finish. Thank you.

Congratulations again Wes, and I absolutely love the video. I couldn't take my eyes off the Araviapa live stream during the race - so fun to watch as it was happening.
Thank you Anne!
This was incredibly awesome to watch. Giving me all sorts of inspiration

Beautiful! My second or third time watching this and I still tear up at watching you finish. Great job! I love your videos and your bright spirit shines through every race video.
Thank you Pat! 🤩 thanks for coming back to watch again.
You did such a great job documenting this incredible event, and of course in the race itself - amazing! This is so motivating, the ultra running community, beautiful nature and all the ups and downs along the journey
Thank you, Ruwen, I'm so happy you enjoyed taking the journey with us.
This was absolutely awesome. Loved it! Well done super inspirational. Thanks for this. Good motivation going into my second Ultra
Thank you, Tywin, I'm happy this video found you. Good luck on your training and your race!
Congratulations !!!
What a fantastic journey.
Your crew was spectacular and
that bass solo was killer.
Thank you Jason! That mini bass concert was so cool. Search UA-cam for Stereognosis Miles Jay to see more of his performances, He’s super cool.
Beautifully made story! And well fought! Congratz Mr.! Thanks for making these stories of yours! :)
Thank you. I love making these videos, and it very rewarding to read when you like watching them.
Awesome stuff Wes!!!! Your films are always amazing! Congrats on kicking Cocodona’s ass. Truly inspiring.
It was a mutual ass-kicking! Thank you, Shawn, I’m glad you liked the video.
That was a great watch ! Respect 🤜🏻
Thank you!
Fantastic film Wes, you are an inspiration!
Thank you for that kind comment!
Amazing video. Incredible accomplishment. So cool to see so much of this race. Great job filming and editing all this together. But mostly great job accomplishing such an incredible feat of endurance. Thanks for posting this!
Thank you Austin!
Thanks for the motivation I needed this morning watching this. My favorite point is when you have less than a mile to go and you decide to really pick it up. It just goes to show that we can always push ourselves further than our bodies think they can go. Congrats on the major accomplishment and thanks for sharing your jourey. I look forward to seeing more of your stuff as you have an instant new sub from me. Keep it up man!
I like to finish strong if I can. It was amazing how good we felt after so many miles, and it was fun to turn it on for a second on the way downhill. I’m glad you enjoyed this! Thanks!
Huge respect to you and your crew Wes. Thank you for taking us through your journey. Keep going..
Thank you! And thanks for watching!
This is really great. I'm so impressed with how positive you're able to remain throughout such a difficult ordeal. Really inspiring! Thanks for the wonderful film.
Thank you Matt! Bay Area running legend Chuck Wilson impressed upon me the importance of a positive attitude as I was training for my first 100. It isn't always easy, and because it isn't always easy, it has to be a decision to be positive. Doesn't mean low points won't happen, as this shows out of Sedona, but you can't let negativity take root and grow. Stay positive!
amazing journey so cool to see you do that, I just about teared up at the end for you because that is such an inspirational thing.
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it Brian.
A truly moving production! You can feel the emotion of the run through the video! You inspire me to be a better runner and creator every time you create art like this!
Thank you Daylan. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
What an amazing achievement to complete the race. Unbelievable!!! And an equally amazing job documenting and editing it into this outstanding video. Well done 👏👏👏
Thanks Damian. And thank you for taking the time to watch it. Projects like this have three major phases for me: 1. Planning. I print wall maps and study elevation profiles and watch whatever video I can find to get mentally ready. 2. Run the thing. In this case that’s nearly a week all it’s own! 3. Make the video. It’s a fun albeit busy and slight stressful way to stay in the enjoyment of the race as I relive it through the documentary I make.
It is hard work, all of it, but I love it.
You honestly amaze me every time I watch you race I’m so impressed by how positive you are . You give me so much motivation and I really appreciate you sharing your journey. Thank you Wes !!
Thank you Linda. I’m so glad you enjoy my videos. Good luck with your running!
Great video, Wes! Really inspiring and well made! Most importantly, you seem like a really great person!
Thank you. Trying!
Absolutely incredible! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Thank you so much!!
That was a very enjoyable video, Wes. Nicely done. And congratulations on your finish!
Thank you Wes! We talked about you a couple times, I wish you’d been out there. :)
Great video Wes, inspirational.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks Dave.
Crikey Wes, you are made of stern stuff. Congratulations on a great film and a huge achievement. In awe.
Wow, Rupert, thanks! I'm so happy you watched it. Thank you.
@@wplate It's been quite the run since we first met in the Business Design Centre in Islington!
So inspirational and really fun to follow. Amazing documentary alone, but to have done it and thought this through while running is even more impressive! Your energy throughout was amazing. Congratulations!
Thank you. These videos are fun for me to make, I love it that you enjoyed watching it. Positive energy makes a huge difference! Leah said that if I was positive 60% of Moab, Cocodona was more like 80%. I had my low points, but overall I kept it trending upwards. :)
Beautiful journey and documentary! Thank you for sharing the spectacular views and moods 🌞
Thank you for watching, I’m so happy you enjoyed it.
Amazing journey. Thank you for documenting this.
Thank you for watching Marie!
Incredible effort! I greatly enjoyed the film!
Thanks for watching, Patrick, I’m so happy you liked it.
Your commitment, grit and perseverance are so inspiring! I also loved seeing the support from your family. They are awesome!
Thank you Lesley! My family is so supportive, I’m very very lucky. :)
Great race man. Super inspiring. Thank you for sharing the journey!

Thanks Neil. I’m glad you enjoyed it. 🙌🏼
Thanks for taking us along on your adventure! Great video ! and subscribed!
Thank you for watching and subscribing. I’m glad you enjoy this content.
I'm more inspired to take on such an epic adventure! Thank you for sharing your vision, perspective, and taking the time to document this journey. Adding in the element of filming is a beast in itself. I want to walk/run/experience every mile of this earth more than ever. I appreciate you!
Traveling across the land on my own feet gives me a sense of connection to that place that feels very intimate. The places I run become so special to me, and to return or just drive by fills me with energy. The Cocodona course is a part of me now and I still feel it buzzing inside me a little. Such an incredible experience.
you and your crews are absolutely incredible, thanks for sharing with us
I’m truly blessed with wonderful family and friends. Thank you for watching!
Great video! And loved the words of wisdom from Kerry during your low point.
Me too! Kerry said when we paces runners, and those runners have a bad time, those were the words he would tell them. Lucky to get that wisdom from him.
Thank you for the journey. This was such a joy to follow.
Glad you enjoyed it, Drew, thank you!
Awesome! A great achievement and a great film! Congratulations! Mats
Thank you very much!
So wonderful. Heartfelt congrats! (Sun protection on point!)
I’m all about keeping the sun off me. Thank you for watching, I appreciate it!
This is an amazing experience. I really had an awesome time going through all the hardships with you, seeing all those beautiful sceneries that mother nature provides. The level of determination to keep going on for 250+ miles is such an achievement! Congrats to you, i am hoping to see more videos like this in the future!
Thank you! I'm glad you liked this film. I do enjoy documenting and sharing these experiences.
Wow, so amazing to be able to follow along! Congrats! This was very soothing and peaceful to watch. Such a beautiful course!
Thanks for coming along and watching the journey Kristen!
Outstanding work! You did such an amazing job on the video - not to mention completing the race. Thank you so much! If this race "takes off" they can thank YOU for such a wonderful and inspiring documentary!
Thank you very much, I'm glad you enjoyed watching. :)
Congratulations to you, your crew and all the other participants--what an epic journey--thanks so much for sharing!
Thank you and thanks for watching!
The way you carried yourself through this journey was inspirational man. Thank you.
Thank you Gareth. 🙏🏼
Fantastic achievement! Well done! Such a great attitude the entire time.
Thanks Mark. A positive attitude makes a huge difference. :) Thanks for watching, I appreciate it.
Such a humble way of showing an "out of this world" effort!! Many thanks all the way from The Netherlands
Thanks for watching Thomas.
What a massive effort! Lots of cheers from Norway.
Thank you!
The only thing that equals actually finishing the Cocadona was depth, breadth, and beauty of your amazing video. Than you for sharing it with us!
Thank you for watching, I'm thrilled you enjoyed it so much.
Great video Wes! Way to go man, that's a crazy race..... Seemed like you really picked it up once you and Kerry hooked up, so cool to see you running so strong on the back half of that race!
Thanks Chad! Kerry and I really enjoyed each other’s company.
Brilliant, thanks for documenting! Looks amazing, I’m used to running through mud in the cold rainy North UK. 🇬🇧
Glad you enjoyed it. Some of that English misery running looks interesting. I've enjoyed some of the videos of The Arc of Attrition and stuff like that. I'm not sure I'm tough enough for that.
Awesome vid Wes! Also, glad to have met you at Headlands last weekend. Congrats to Leah on her finish!
Thanks for watching James! I so enjoyed hanging out and chatting with you. Thanks for welcoming me into the Aid Station. :) Good luck at Mogollon, I hope it goes well. Hope we bump into each other again.
I haven't even done a race yet but I'm glad I've finally found my thing... I've been getting about 30-40 miles a week and I feel like it's really starting to click :). Started my running journey two years ago and I lost a whole lotta weight. Gained a little back recently. All of it doesn't really matter. Getting out on the trail and enjoying nature is so damn crucial for my level of happiness. Comfort truly is a lie.
Edit: EPIC job on the run and the capture of the experience!
Nice! These events are tremendously fun and difficult and awesome and awful all at once. Train smart and you can definitely do it!
What an incredible achievement. Another beautifully made film. So inspiring and engaging. Thank you.
Thank you Rob!
Wes love you video! I’ve been doing road races for years and I’m contemplating trail running definitely watching this makes eager to start.
I hope you get to try it! I think trail racing is better for your body anyway, less impact! :)
Thank you for sharing the journey
Thank you for watching!
Wow your races are so inspiring! We are towards the end of our training for our first ultra and your videos have been a great way to get in the right mindset! Thank you for sharing your journey and we can’t wait to watch more videos of yours!

Incredibly good documentary! 👏🏻
Thank you!
Thank you for sharing this amazing journey! 29:50 Sedona was my favorite! Beautiful footage!
Thank you for watching, I’m glad you enjoyed the video.
Great job Wes - for the video and for your run, which was amazing - 34th - wow!. You got so much footage and really captured the feeling of what is was like to be out there (in all that heat). I loved that you and Kerry sync'd up and were a support to each other. He's a great guy and is always Mister Positivity about everything. I don't know if you'll ever do this one again but you rocked it - well done - Congrats!
Thank you! This was a very special adventure, I am so happy I was able to document it and capture some of the memories. I love that I can share the video with you.
What an amazing human achievement. Both the race and the attitude of gratefulness.
Thank you. I feel so lucky to have been able to participate in this. Finishing it was a big confidence boost, I can’t help be grateful for the experience. :)
Amazing video--great job and congrats on the finish. I used to live in Flagstaff at the based of Mt. Elden and would run up there every weekend--it was awesome to see that it was included in this race, brought back some memories. Can't imagine running that many miles on as little sleep as you had. Super impressive.
Thank you! I stayed in Flagstaff the Friday night before the Monday race start and used the opportunity to climb Mt Elden on fresh legs. It struck me as not a terrible hike. Not easy, but not as hard as I expected. The second time I climbed it, six days and 242 miles later, it was more challenging. I pressed hard going up the second time!
That preview hike led to great Strava comments that led me to the best pizza in town. Yum!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for a great video!
Brennan, you’re welcome! I’m so happy you enjoyed it.
Truly amazing race and film. I have to do this race some day. You captured the beauty of that part of our country!
Thanks for watching! It is an epic event, I hope you’re able to run it.
Wow what a landscape all through this race. Amazing.
Truly amazing. Thanks for watching!
Great coverage of that very impressive trial. Joy to watch.
Thank you! I'm happy you enjoyed.
....well I am back watching this gem while I work. Pretty great!
🙌🏼
