I can't believe it took until this album for me to even hear of Haken. Instantly became one of my favorite bands. There is so much to love buried in their music that I can listen to the same song 3 times and hear something new every time.
Haken has become one of my favorite bands of all time. Dream Theater is my favorite band of all time and If there is any band that can be Dream Theater 2.0 it would be Haken.
DT has kind of run out of things to evolve... the last really unique record was The Astonishing but it received so much hate despite being actually a good album, just not for everybody.
@@elBanananas Astonishing's problem was that Labrie sang all the songs ... one knows that for a rock opera as big as that it was necessary to put other singers, especially a female singer ... it would have been much better and would have been praised from the critics if they had put a select group of singers ... but Labrie's ego weighed more ...
Overwhelming! It's been a while since I listened to Haken. Thanks for reminding me to do so. Also, please do yourselves a favour and teach to ' Freedom Of Fear-The Abstract Venom' or 'Purgatorium'. Or any other from them😀
Good song, but I miss Haken from the first three albums. Do you know Ayreon? If not, I suggest you take a listen to that project involving a lot of different musicians. Isis and Osiris is a great start. I know you'll love it.
The Vector album didn't do that much for me in the end. Listened to it a lot for a week or so as soon as I got my mits on the double CD which had really nice artistic presentation, but not really gone back to it since. The other albums however still get played a fair bit still during my working day (becoming a distant memory). Have you heard of Twelve Foot Ninja? They also bring a lot to the table, as do Persefone which I'm still hoping you'll do a review for.
I feel the same way, although Vector is hardly a bad album, I just don't find myself wanting to go back to it that often. Maybe it's because it is a bit too "math-y"? I mean, not that that's a bad thing by itself, I love Protest The Hero for instance, their sound is often "math-y" too but I always want to go back to it because of how sheer fun and hooky it is. Maybe that's it? Maybe Vector wasn't as "hooky" as Haken usually is?
@@DiegoDeschain Yeah definitely go with that, mathy but without so many hooks - there are some in there but they're not as memorable as Visions, The Mountain and even Aquarius. Not heard of Protest The Hero before but now I've just listened to them, yeah really good man. Really interesting mix of vocals and musical proficiency - hooked already lol.
@@DiegoDeschain Nice one! Not heard those yet but will in due course! The tracks I've heard so far were pretty short but I'm hoping they also dabble in the self indulgent. Fotress as a track name reminds me of the Alter Bridge song and album which are both unbelievably good. More hard rock than prog but top drawer nether the less. Cheers.
Dream Theater and Haken. Prog Gods and prog Gods to be. Absolute masters.
That Korg-y sound keyboardist make is so sweet and deep!
6:20 that back and forth riffage through the end is INFECTIOUS
I see you and your quarantine wordplay.

sons of apollo?
Don’t forget about Circus Maximus too.
For me Haken is the new Dream Theater. They keep evolving (as DT once did) where DT is pretty much static.

@@felipeandres8203 I have never heard of anybody complain about that lol LaBrie was incredible on that record
@@elBanananas The Astonishing is the worst record DT ever recorded, oh my god that album is soooo Booooring.
@@bjrnkarehilmen8406 The first one is for me after that is Astonishing but DT never recorded a bad album imo.
Looooove Haken!! First new song of theirs I heard in a while. Fantastic!! Great first listen.
The album will be released in 2 months! I'm so excited to hear what the rest offers. And I'll assume we'll get another single within a month :)
HAKEN is Life
i love how you just have 2 cameras just filming your head bopping. that's gold

i freaking love haken
First time watching your channel, but I see those Chapmans in the back and I love it! Lol I wanna save up and get a Ghost Fret Pro at some point.
I've had a pro ghost as well. In truth, the V2 Standards are almost as good as the pros now.

This album is looking fire as fuck though if this first song is any indication.
